I would say Doyle Brunson won more money on the poker table than anyone else. I mean the guy has had 5435 years without a losing year. So even if he made 10k a year he is still a brazillionaire

What about Phil Gordon and Paul Phillips? I name them not for what they've won in poker but they're sucesses in the business world. Paul Phillips made several hundred millions if not billions when he sold he took his company public.  Phil Gordon was invovled in some computer tech company and made something like $300 million when it went public I believe.Any thoughts??
Horowitz, sold Go2Net to InfoSpace four years ago in a $2.7 billion stock deal....i dont know how much paul phillips got from this deal...he was the chief technical officer...but who knows how many shares he had..
The executives within a company typically own a relatively small percentage but large compared to most other holders. Bill Gates owns maybe 10% of Microsoft shares now. That amounts to a fair amount of money since the deal was in the billions but if I had to guess I'd say his share was< 5% and he'd probably be in the tens of millions. Then the tax man gets his chunk. He'd probably never reveal his finances so it's all speculation. Beal is probably the most well known billionaire who regularly plays poker against pros and his net assets are in the billions so I'd go with him until someone like Warren Buffet or Bill Gates shows up a the poker table wearing sunglasses and a t-shirt that says, "I used my lunch money for this entry fee."

I don't know about poker, but I've heard on many occasions he's been seen in the "High Limit" rooms at casino's turning the blackjack table into a $5 table and going at it $5 a hand.

Dumb question, at least, dumb answers. It's turned into who is the richest guy that happens to play poker for fun or profit. If Gates entered a tennis tournement, would he be the richest tennis player?Ok, he prolly would be, but....

its weird that paul phillips made a behind closed doors chop when he went headsup with mel judah if he has 2000000000milion dollars, the difference between first and second would be nothing to him
He probably made the deal based on what the correct decision was to do at that time as a poker player. The amount of money he has is irrelevent.

maybe he was being a nice guy because mel judah asked him too....and what was up with his outfit and overall look at the HEADS-UP championship last year? looked like a crazy mountain man
