aspects of poker you hate the most

Recommended Posts

in holdem when someone flips over one of the same cards you've flipped.... and slowly..... flips over..... the other......card....... revealing a hand better than yours.
:lol:In a PL Omaha Hi game tonight, I did that and it was hilarious :lol:Board 5-7-K-9-3He flips over a nine, I flip over a nine... he flips over an ace, I flip over a jack... he starts to smile, until I say, "oh wait, and I have 6-8 for the straight too":lol:It's a friendly game though, and moves like this occur pretty often :D We just have a good time.
If you did that to me, I'd kick your ass Then we'd have a good time :club:

thought of something else that annoys me even though it only lasts for a few seconds.low limit stuff again. the dealer will tell the players to flip over their cards at show down, and they all sit there like they are at a 4 way traffic stop, not knowing who should go first.

i hate when i really push tptk, and some idiot calls me down w 2 pr rivers me, then pumps his fist and says YES! like he made some incredible play, at those times its hard for me to keep the "hustler" mentality and tell the idiot nice hand, because then i get my favorite reply, I knew u didnt have much that hand. Just writing this makes me want to kill and maim.

Along the line of bitter old people...Old people stuck in their ways. I had one go off on me for raising in the BB after there were 5 limpers (I had KK). He said it was rude and it slowed the game down. I explained that I was making my decisions based on expected value within accepted poker etiquette, not forgoing edges because of convenience. He immediately cashed out, and everyone else at the table looked at me like I was the biggest asshole ever.
 Speechless

Dealers who don't attempt to speed up a slow table and or dealers who attempt to speed up a table that isn't slow. ie : Time and time again tellling the SB and BB to post after they have posted and or trying to get players to act VERY quickly. After a few times I can't help myself and I say " Please; you never have to tell me when it is my turn to act and or when to post. I pay very close attention"

well now im gonna add a new one after tonight.......playing against fish who answer "pot odds" when you ask them why they called, and yet they have no idea what pot odds mean. This just happened to mean in a 10 man home tournament with some friends. $40 dollar buy-in with a 50/30/20 payout structure. With 7 players remaining, its raised and re-raised and the guy on the SB calls with garbage because of supposed "pot odds". He hits middle pair on the flop which is no good (i have the dreaded TPTK), he opens for the minimum and i raise 5x the minimum, he calls because of his supposed "pot odds". Long story short, he hits runners for a full house. I cant believe how badly he played on every single round. Not only did he make bad calls, he checked the turn! And knowing that he wont fold no matter what, i check behind him. I have no idea why he checked the turn since i have a ton of outs with AQ and even more if i had KQ or QJ.

You guys have gotta be kidding.... isnt the worst feeling/thing about poker having a horrible losing streak? Running bad and losing 300bb+... nothing worse than running bad and then reviewing your hand histories and seeing you are playing how you always have even when you were winning.

Either variance or the players that don't understand variance and curse at fish for making a play that you want them to make every single time. So it's a toss up between feeling sick or feeling angry.

Just off the top of my head....The inches from complete senility old lady who sits at a 2-4 game, never looks at her cards, raises every bet blind, then turns over a winner like 8 hands in a row.

I hate the Young Punk that thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread....and I really hate when the Young Punk talks about poker strategy at the table....I really like......Cleaning out that Young Punk....
Bitter old people.
Old? I am 31 years old....I am talking about the Young Punks that come to the Casino becasue they just turned of age and of course....they dominated their home games...so they are going to "teach" everybody on the table how to play poker....
I don't like it because all the "old" (actually experienced) players tighten up, trap, and take all the kids money. They think that experienced players are that way all the time, and don't think these guys change up their play. Anyway all the yapping hurts the action, and slows things down.

OMG.We play a 120 dollar tournament once a month. There is this old guy that always plays. He is the worst player at the game, but he some how makes it to the final table and finishes in the money at any time.I mean... he limps in with aces... doesn't reraise when someone raises before the flop. Then he will wait until the turn to bet. He will also call all the way down on ANY board with ace high. He call a large bet preflop with any 2 suited cards. Yet he still wins.

trying to vary an agressive style with a trap by checking intending to CRand having ewer opponent get the most excellent.......and free.....card which of course dominates my made hand and damn near puts me on tilt.that's live play, on the internet I get driven crazy with how worthless raises are. raise 3-5x BB, lots of callers and get sucked out on a high percentage with Qrag, Krag, ragrag etc for two pair or the flush. I know they don't always get there but lately(variance I guess?)they have and it's almost got me to stop playing online for awhile.
I feel ya Wisky, I actually have given up online for a little while, its been making me quite angry lately  . So...now i've been living at the local cardroom more than usual and all is going well 8)

what i hate most about NLHE is the river. If there was no such thing as the river i'd have millions of dollars by now.  I can honestly think of only a handful of times I got my money in with the worst hand when i wasnt shortstacked.Second thing i hate is tourists from certain states, i wont say which, that come to AC and act like they are awesome.  And some of them are very good players but their attitude sucks, they constantly berate other players and constantly try to trap other players.  Not that that's wrong to do but you just see right through it.If they lose their stack watch out because an avalanche is about to follow, followed by a rebuy and tilt.  They will also appeal to the player next to them but hate the rest of the table.I should also mention these players fall into a certain age category and it aint young players, and it aint old players. The thing i hate most about poker is the crappy poker on tv like poker royale, celebrity poker and poker superstars.  WPT is ok but nothing beats WSOP.
What's with the secrets? Are we supposed to guess?I guess... Colonel Mustard, In the Poker Room, With the Jacks over Nines. :club:

sitting in seat 1 or 10 and the dealer makes me give him a hand job for playable hands.  Is that only in FL,  they tell me that is standard poker etiquette?
So what do you do for them to deal you a bad beat?
i can answer this one from experiencetoothy blowjobs.

there are so many things I hate I could write forever, but here are some:-- I hate everyone bitc.hing about bad beats. Everyone takes them and everyone will continue to take them. Deal with it within and shut the fu.ck up. Don't berate someone else whether they win with Aces or 3-9 offsuit. Take it like a man.-- This is more of a general hate, but everyone thinking they are good. Everyone who plays any sport thinks they are good. Golfers, whether they shoot 110 or 70, think they are good. Basketball players, whether they have any sort of game whatsoever, think they are good. I, like everyone else, is guilty of this in some way. It is an unsaid fact that to be good at ANYTHING, one must think they are good, but it does not need declared that you think so. If you are good at anything, it will be noticed and discussed without having to say a word about it. In short, I guess people need to be more humble and let their play do the talking. You can think you are the best player in the world, but keep it to yourself. You can think you are better than someone else; and you may be, but there's no god damn need to belittle someone because you play 3-6 and they play 1-2. Keep it to yourself because no one wants to hear it. Nothing is better to me than hearing someone admit the weaknesses in their game, hearing how someone played this hand so poorly, or hearing someone admit the best they've ever shot 95 but that they can't wait for the day they break 90. Having humility and being humble are the most underrated things on earth.-- Bragging. I'll be the first to congratulate someone on their first pot, first win, etc. no matter what the level may be and I also love hearing about someone who won a tourney and having them tell the hands, etc, etc. I do not consider that bragging. I consider that taking pride in what you have done. What I hate are the clowns who try to brag about their bankrolls, etc. No one gives a sh.it.-- I hate everyone who rips on pros. They could not care less what you think and neither do I. You can critique their play or anything else, but do it like a normal human being.Peace........

Very well said, excellent post. Your 2nd and 4th points are two of the best things I have read on this site, particularly the point about humility.

Everyone needs to lighten up. Sure i still get mad when i take a two or three outer on the river (i get a lot more angry online, but that's different), but you have to look at the game in a different way if you really want to make it a major part of your life. In live games i think it is very important to joke around, and not show too much anguish when a fish sucks out on you with a stupid hand. Be courteous, and keep them happy and coming back for more. Telling people how bad they are is not good for anyone, just play your game and have as much fun doing so as possible. Even in a bad session i try to remember as much of the positive aspects as possible, while still obviously running over my plays. Bad beats happen, if they didn't then poker wouldn't be nearly what it is. What fun would it be if the best hole cards won every time? What strategy would be involved? Sure i give the guy at the 3-6 table with sunglasses a laugh when i see him, but it's all in fun. I try to enjoy every minute i'm at the table, and so should everyone else there.

I hate that whenever I manage to convince myself that poker is more skill than luck I sit down in a homegame with all beginners and some dude that started off the evening with a lesson from me in what the small and the big blind is, finish off the evening with all the chips. I HATE THAT YOU CANNOT READ FISH IN A HOMEGAME! I mean, I am a consistently winning player online, but in a homegame this does not matter, even in the longrun. The reason is that some people for example dont understand that they have the option to fold instead of calling with their queen high when I checkraise them with nothing. Why dont they understand that I am representing a strong hand? This is one example why poker is always more fun playing with "good" players. At the same time it makes me wonder what poker really is about. My theory is that in a homegame we are talking about 10 % skill and 90% luck, while in a tough game with players who kno their sh-t, we are talking about maybe 40% skill 60% luck...This is my biggest poker conundrum. Thoughts?
