jjdylan 0
Because, what so many of the younger people on here that think they are democrats don't realize is, (true) republicans believe that the government should stay the hell out of peoples private lives and the democrats believe that you all are too stupid to make good decisions for yourselves so they want to do your thinking for you like an overbearing mother. That is all.yeah yeah yeah, typical republican response. Thats the line they take, untill a "moral" issue comes up, then they're the first ones in line to protect us from ourselves. SBriand 4
Didn't this bill originate in the senate?A Senator made the bill but the bill has to go through a process that ends up in the senate.

Cadam11 0
i wouldn't be so happy, remember how many people who pad our roles come from the states!I highly doubt that they will be able to enforce it that well, and if they do I am sure there will be plenty ways around it. MasterLJ 0
I'm going to keep playing anyway, **** 'em.If I can hop in my car and play the SAME ****ING GAME legally 4 miles down the road, then I'm going to play it online. The only thing that sucks about this is that the influx of newer players will not be as steady due to the illegal stigma. But word of this will certianly hurt the inflow of new fish that are just finding poker etc...I mean, look at the whole thing that went down with online file sharing and the RIAA. Your average person has stopped downloading music for free, but those that really want it can still get any music they want for free quite easily.
DonkSlayer 1
The meat of the bill says that it will be illegal for US Credit Card companies to knowingly allow gaming charges, it will be illegal to use credit cards to gamble online, etc.Unless you're betting on horses. Which is like playing keno. Especially if your horse breaks his leg. It also give the fed gov the right to "assist" banking institutions with tracking down violators of this law.I'd give it 50-50 to pass the Senate. The problem is, gambling institutions are SUPPORTING this bill. Casinos and horse tracks want it, because then to play poker or gamble, you have to go there instead of staying home. Goodlatte can say he is against all forms of gambling, but those supporting his bill think otherwise. I'm really, really pssed off about this specific fact.Meanwhile, I'm screwed sitting here in Richmond, VA, 6 hours away from the nearest poker room.I would say that if you still want to play online and this gets passed by the Senate, put as much as you can into a Neteller/Firepay account before Bush signs it. Kuge 0
Yes, but is it worth 10s of thousands in fines or going to jail over it if you get caught?Someone is going to intentional get caught and appeal this all the way to the supreme court until the supreme court finds this act unconstitutional. I really wish I had my thinking cap on to tell you which admendment...but I'm multitabling so bah.
Cadam11 0
how will this effect cashing out our online winnings? That is what I want to know. You most likely can still get a check sent to you. Unless they wont allow checks from their also.

Then it becomes a game of switching providers, IP addresses, poker sites, etc. The small guy will always be able to stay ahead of the big guy, but they could make it so annoying that it essentially kills it because the casual player won't bother.Backslider

Franky Bones 0
i think its time for the Million Online Poker Player march on Washington. This whole thing makes me sick. Nobody but "gamblers" will care. The rest of America could care less unless it directly effects them. 2006 and we move backwards with our personal rights/freedoms daily. What's that old saying? First they came for the drinkers and I said nothing, then they came for the smokers and I said nothing, then they came for the porn and I spoke up and it was saved, then they came for me... and there was nobody left to save me. or something like that.. you get my point..I still don't think it will pass the senate. That is where the real money goes. The bribes will hit the right pockets.. the right lobbyists will do their job. Last time this went before the senate they denied it. Jack Abramoff lead that campaign. Someone will take this one.
