But controlling crime on your streets is somethign you, as a nation, could make a priority if you want to. However, you choose to spend more money on the military and less on police/intervention programs. Maybe if the US would get to the root causes of crime on their streets, mainly poverty, there would be less need to take out your aggression on countries that have, frankly, not really bothered you that much except to not sell you their oil cheaper.And don't go blaming foreign countries for acts of terrorism by their citizens, or have you forgotten the internal terrorist Timothy McVeigh? What country do you blame him on?I wouldn't choose to blame him on any country. I'm not saying that I think the majority of any of the countries in the Middle East are evil, either. I wouldn't make a blanket assumption, like that. I agree, to a certain extent, with what Doug's saying. I just find the manner he's saying it in fairy ridiculous. He calls me pessimistic, fine. I'd love to find the Eutopia he thinks is possible. I'm amused by the fact that he doesn't think that there are people in this world who are bred to hate Americans, hate Jews, hate Gays. War sucks. I am open to discussing it. I'm fed up with people sitting on their arses, willing to take government money for not working, complaining that they can't find a job. Every frickin city in this country has a newspaper full of classified adds looking for workers. A lot of people in this country feel that work is beneath them. It angers me greatly. I'm a "white collar" worker with a "blue collar" mentality. You do whatever it takes to earn a wage and live within that. If that doesn't suit your lifestyle, then do something about it. Quit complaining to the government that it's their fault. And the politicians need to stop catering to that mentality and start cleaning their own house. The poverty is self inflicted in a significant amount of cases. Yes, the politics in this country tend to keep the less well off people at that level. Politicians feed off of it. It's sad.
