SapphireTiger 0
I see a lot of advice given out...yet I'm not quite sure to whom I should be listening. There's a lot of bad advice and misunderstandings on this game, and I think everyone who posts on here should know who is giving the right advice. So my question is, What's your specialty? What game or aspect of the game do you believe you're most knowledgeable about?I ask this question so people can pay special attention to your specific post when you give your advice.Although I realize that some people may believe they have a specialty even though in actuality they severly misunderstand their so called "specialty," I do believe that the responses in this post will help a bit. Catamo 0
You may not want to listen to any advice i have, as im only 16 and have only been into Texas holdem for about a year now. However, Im Very good... Plan to be pro, and i believe Im a natural at it because ive always been a very Strategical and Mathmatical person. That being said, I excell at NL Holdem. Ive spent many many many hours studying it, playing it, watching it, and reading about it.What can i say, Im Addicted.
allinbluff35 0
if you guys could get as specific as possible that would be great(i.e. NLHE Online Cash games postflop play especially value betting)just an example...if people want in depth analysis of hands and certain situations then that's how they need to present there hands. Most people don't do that here, so I'll provide a quick comment on the hand history because that's all they provided us with except for "he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary that I noticed" blah blah blah. Then you weren't paying close enough attention to his betting patterns, what hands he was showing down, what hands he was raising/reraising as opposed to calling with(was this person doing this in position or out of position), and how many hands you've played with that person to really understand how this person is playing. Most hands that people post here for NLHE cash games are so cut and dry it's unreal. Again if people want to take the time to post in depth analysis of hands that go into a higher level of thinking then post them in strategy and I'll toss in a comment or two. Guest
I don't contribute much in the way of content. I'm always good for some silly dry witted remark. But you wanted to know about poker knowledge.I consider my speciality to be razz. Which is great. But no one ever asks questions about it. And since you wanted specifics........everything about it. I'll never toot my own horn about anything except this. Moderately ok at the following things: Omaha 8/ob, getting better at 7 stud and stud hi-lo, limit holdem, no limit holdem........
wannabe 0
Pot Limit Hold em... anything and everything..
Chiggleslap 0
i started off playing nl hold em, but since i became serious about the game and started building my bankroll playing limit hold em, i must say that limit hold em has become my best game. but i must also say that all the hours i've put in at the limit tables has vastly improved my game at the no limit tables. a lot of skills learned in limit can become very effective at the nl tables if you adapt them appropriately to the game.i primarily play limit online and reserve my nl play for live games. i find it much more difficult to play nl online than in live games, probably because of the immense importance of playing the player in nl.then again, it's easier to play any game live than online... unless you have a terrible poker face... Vade 0
Seems lame, but my specialty is helping others improving their game. It's just who I am...I always try to help people.I'm better at theoretical plays then I am actually at the table. It comes down to consistency and patience, which I hope comes with time (believe it or not I've only been playing poker since March 04, playing seriously since October 04, and playing cash games since....March 05   )I always try to give as good of advice as I can, often others disagree with me, that's how I learn
Guest
actually... in cards...I win lots playing gin with the older guys... and am just about a breakeven player in holdem... and have been making at a decent clip playing stud...but my specialty is running restaurants... Ktiger48 0
My specialty game is pot-limit omaha. I have made more money playing pot limit omaha than all of the other games combined. I am also turning into a solid NLHE player. My general poker strengths are sensing weakness and pouncing on it and also recognizing betting patterns (the biggest tell). I am very adept at knowing how much to bet if I want someone to fold or if I want to keep them in the hand. So, in response to the op's question, if people wanted my advice, then I am a really good resource for PLO and how to structure your betting. I am also a pretty good NLHE and Stud8 player. Never ask me anything about LHE (I seem to have a mental block for that game).
Vensula 0
my forte is casino low limit (3-6, 4-8)before i had to get a real job to put the wife though school i was playing 4-5 nights a week making an average of around 200 a night...
HangukMiguk 8
PLHE in cash games (on smart betting, I can figure out what to bet into the pot, to get the max amount possible out of the players on showdown)in tournaments: NLHE (Heads up play really, you don't want to get me heads up in a tournament, no other real specialty here, I just make the majority of my money this way) & Stud (Reads, I see your up cards and can pretty much tell you what you have, but rarely play it in a cash game, hence why it's a tournament specialty). DrawingDeadInDM 0
I consider my speciality to be razz. Which is great. But no one ever asks questions about it. I thought I was the only one . Razz is my game...even though it's tough to find a game in my home town here.Okay at limit hold 'em..okay at Omaha..Don't like Stud, even though it's a great deal like, Razz..eh..just one of those things. Razz is my game...even though it's tough to find a game in my home town here.Okay at limit hold 'em..okay at Omaha..Don't like Stud, even though it's a great deal like, Razz..eh..just one of those things.I actually won a seat in the WSOP on Full Tilt through one of the "Race for the Bracelet" Razz satellites. June 29th Razz tourney. w00tSorry. had to boost my ego for a sec. Its been a crappy day. I run into the same problem though. No one in our local game has ever even heard of Razz. Those kids are largely raised on the WPT and only play NL Hold'em. Makes it easy to mop up in our Wednesday home game. "I saw such and such a pro make this play last weekend on the WPT event". Silly impressionable kids......
DeckMechanic 0
I play best shorthanded. Whether it's limit or pot limit it just suits my game. I think people assume they need to loosen up loads with 6 handed games but usually loosen up too much.
dn683 0
I just finished universtiy, it's 11am here and I'm still wasted. Nothing I say is of any value. I play the tightest game imaginable that although profitable really is'nt much fun. On the plus side me and a friend went heads and tails on last night on a girl i've wanted since 1st year. So if any one wants advie on how to suggest a threesome i supose i could be some help.
Fourhead 0
Easy.My specialties are:1. Raising preflop with pocket KK, getting called by A4 and A6 offsuit and flopping ace, rag, rag rainbow.2. Disciplined preflop play and checkraising players who will bet 100% of the time they're checked to.
akishore 0
i have no real specialities. :? here are the games i play, in order of most knowledgeable to least knowledgeable:- limit HE (not as good as wrto/kdawg, but i beat the game fairly well)- PL HE, and to a lesser extent, NL HE (much better live than online)- limit omaha hi/lo (great game, but i'm still tweaking)- PL omaha hi/lo (i'm working on it, but i think i have the theory down)- PL omaha (again, i'm working on it, but i can hold my own)- PL five card draw (a lot of luck in this game, but i think i have an edge)- limit deuce-to-seven triple draw (i'm still learning...)- limit seven card stud (now i'm getting weak...)- limit seven card stud hi/lo (and weaker...)- limit razz (...and now i'm a fish)- ring game play (yum)- heads-up play (loads of fun and extremely psychological)- short-handed play (i'm learning...)- medium-handed play (yuck)overall, i'm definitely a cash game player. i hate tournaments, but i play live SNG's from time to time and online MTT's occasionally. i'm trying to improve my tournament game, but that's definitely on the back burner since cash games are so profitable.oh yeah, i remember--my speciality is bonus wh0ring. :-) aseem
