  1. Playing in pretty loose 1/2 NL on a riverboat in Iowa (1st mistake). I threw in my last $24 with Jd Jc in mid position.Guy calls from the big blind and turns over Jh 9c. Nobody else entered the pot.Me - "J9 off, nice call."Guy - "You implied my odds?"M - "I did what? You mean you had implied odds?"G - "Yeah. After you implied them I had to call."board came Js 9h 8h 4h 3h... Kinda saw that coming after that response.
  2. You hear about the new Horseshoe opening in Council Bluffs? There should be a lot of money to be made there. (not to rub it in or anything) I'd suggest you do soemthing else with your time until 21. Unfortunately, I just moved to Omaha and I feel your boredom pain. How you've lived to be 19 is beyond me. I'd tell you to come up to the Shoe and say hi but I seriously doubt I'll still be dealing there when your 21. Meanwhile, if live poker's your thing, find a home game. I hear about a ton of them all the time around here. Should be easy. Good luck.
  3. Standard precedure for shuffling in a B&M is:riffle, riffle, box (3 times), riffle and lastly cut. Thats pretty random considering there isn't any certain number of cards that are being placed between another certain number of cards. I'm sure there are dealers who dont shuffle as well as we would like them to, but I think your missing out on what the definition of random is. Those tables are a joke. There are people out there that actually believe that this is the future of poker. Half the table has their eyes glued to the screens while the other half is signaling to one another. Great id
  4. You're not? I thought the only three professions in Canada were:A) LumberjackB) Hockey PlayerC) Mountie
  5. Looks like your doing pretty good.I missed the registration because I got wrapped up in a 2-4 game.Good luck.
  6. Not trying to get a tipping thread started or anything, but...Next time your in a B&M ask a dealer what their hourly rate is. I get paid $3.13/hr. + Tips. I try to do the very best job I can and hope to get tipped accordingly. If I screw up, I don't get tipped. No love-loss. Dealers do more than shuffle and deal. If you have ever been in a room where a situation arose, you know what I mean. Anything you can offer a dealer is GREATLY appreciated. You don't have to tip every hand. You don't have to tip at all. Dealers know when a player is stuck and I know that I, personally, don't expect to
  7. What, exactly, are you doing right now? How many humanitarians do you think post on this site?
  8. Just remember that you are better than them. Sometimes I like to imagine running a box cutter accross their neck. If that doesn't do the trick I get up and go outside, slash their tires and take the bell of their handlebars. Does it for me every time.
  9. I tried the whole "all-in in the dark" thing last night in a home game trying to shake things up a bit. (all-in, pre-deal, $140 in a 5-5 n/l) Thought I'd just get $10 in blinds and ended up getting called by 4 players. I took down a $700 pot with A5o but I still think moving in the dark sucks.
  10. My wife has a Mike Matusow doll. Well, actually it's a blow-up doll with a Full Tilt shirt that she calls "Big Mike". The other nigh..I've said too much.
  11. Please explain. I play on stars, and i love the software. Very clear, easy on the eyes, huge time bank, you get to choose your own avatar. I like it far more than party or pokerroom. Haven't played on FT, so i can't compare. But why do you think the stars software sucks?I think the time bank on stars is the worst part of their site. I can think of a lot of things I'd rather do than wait for over a minute while some knucklehead hollywoods his 83o before folding. As for FT, turn off the avatars and kill the chat until the high school crowd goes to bed and you will have some of the best soft
  12. $10?? The most I've ever seen was in a low limit room in Florida and that was $5. Most rooms in Vegas rake a max of $3. The same can be said about the rooms in Mississippi. If a room is raking any more than that... don't go there. Until recently, casinos didn't like having poker rooms because there wasn't any money in them. Now they surround the rooms with craps tables, black jack, 3-card poker and video poker. Compared to what they get from these games, they still don't get anything from the poker rooms.
  13. Kinda takes the whole idea of winning a bracelet down a couple notches.
  14. Ah, the melodic sound of ignorance. Most dealers (outside of Vegas) get paid below minimum wage. They take home what you give them. If there wasn't a dealer you would be getting hands dealt out at an astonishing rate of 12 hands/hr. Dealers are there to keep people from cheating you out of all your money. They are trained to control the game, spot colluding, and make change when needed. If the dealer can't do his/her job, don't tip. If a dealer is capable and knows what he/she is doing, tip accordingly. Otherwise, keep your sorry, no tipping ass at home on the internet or I'll make your knuckl
