what's the biggest pot you've ever won?

Recommended Posts

I was reading an old thread in the forum for DN's results, and somebody posted the biggest pot they'd ever won. I thought it might be kind of an interesting topic so I decided to post a new topic here.Anyway, I won my biggest pot ever last night playing NL 400 (2-4 blinds) on PartyPoker. I was going up against a maniac who was acting even more manaical after I bluffed him out of a $900 pot and showed. Anyway, here's the hand:#Game No : 3001948782 ***** Hand History for Game 3001948782 *****$400 NL Texas Hold'em - Tuesday, November 08, 08:08:32 EDT 2005Table Table 71387 (6 max) (No DP) (Real Money)Seat 6 is the buttonTotal number of players : 6 Seat 1: elena1976 ( $673.33 )Seat 2: iggymcfly ( $886.63 )Seat 4: The_North ( $448.40 )Seat 6: KashaKnish ( $1543.35 )Seat 3: RattbagHero ( $586 )Seat 5: anhhai40 ( $417.80 )elena1976 posts small blind [$2].iggymcfly posts big blind [$4].** Dealing down cards **Dealt to iggymcfly [ Ah Qd ]RattbagHero folds.The_North folds.anhhai40 folds.KashaKnish raises [$15].elena1976 folds.iggymcfly calls [$11].** Dealing Flop ** [ Jd, As, 6s ]iggymcfly checks.KashaKnish bets [$30].iggymcfly raises [$60].KashaKnish raises [$130].iggymcfly calls [$100].** Dealing Turn ** [ Jc ]iggymcfly checks.KashaKnish bets [$150].iggymcfly calls [$150].** Dealing River ** [ 2h ]iggymcfly checks.KashaKnish is all-In [$1218.35]iggymcfly is all-In [$561.63]iggymcfly shows [ Ah, Qd ] two pairs, aces and jacks.KashaKnish shows [ 4d, 3s ] a pair of jacks.KashaKnish wins $656.72 from side pot #1 with a pair of jacks.iggymcfly wins $1772.26 from the main pot with two pairs, aces and jacks.

nice hand, played a bit wierd though. Ill give my thoughts on your hand before telling mine (no converter as it happened live). Analysis: i wouldve played it a bit differently. Looks like villain is the bully as you say he is a maniac and he is by far the chipleader on the table. Unless you were trying to play your AQ slow to induce action from this maniac in the chance that you hit your card, i dunno why you wouldnt raise him preflop (i certainly would). On the flop i would raise him as well considering i probably have the best hand and if not i want to gather info, but a min raise in this spot is a bit odd. After he re-raises you i would certainly flat call him. The turn comes a J but thats not as scary as it looks since i doubt he would re-raise on the flop with just the J, id just call here as well. On the river his huge bet seems odd, the pot holds about 650 and he goes all in, giving you a bit more than 2:1 on your money. Thats a gutsy call.As for my play: 2-5 NL 300 max buy-in, playing 9 handed. I'm sitting with about $800, big stack holds about $1,000. To make a long story short, im holdng 6 2 offsuit and i call the whole way knowing that i can take the pot on the river as the only guy whos betting the pot is the only tight player on the table (everyone else is a calling station). I had a good read on the player behind me that all he held was an average hand (mid pair). So on the river the 1st guy bets and i put in a very nice raise, i take down the $1200 pot with 6 high - i believe the board was something like J 10 5 3 3 with 2 hearts and 2 diamonds. Of course when i make that big bluff on the river the tight player sits and thinks about it for nearly 3 or 4 mins while im dying for him the fold. He folds and shows AJ while saying "i know your hand is good".............and i show my 6 high while saying "only if i raise it". Felt a big rush on the hand as i dont stone cold bluff very often, especially like that.

No, I've only been playing the 400s for a week or so, but in the other thread, someone was playing a 5-5 NL game and bragging about winning an $800 pot, so I thought mine was pretty good. Also, I forgot to mention some details of my flop play on the hand. First off, I'd been consistently either flat-calling or giving a decent-size raise when I had a hand, and I figure he'd read a minimum raise as something that was trying to move him off the hand. Also, when I raised, he hesitated a short amount, short enough that it wouldn't be fake hesitation or trying to move me off the hand, but more like it was an actual decision that he was trying to cover with a quick raise. Without that tell, I don't think I could have followed all the way through. Finally, I said I was bluffing a few hands earlier, and that was made him more maniacal not that I was bluffing that hand.If you want to see the bluff, here it is:(I tried to use the converter, but it just screwed it up. Tourney play - final table - 7 players left, on the button, I am the #4 stack very close to average. One mid position limper (#6 stack), the cutoff limps (#5 stack) and I have Ah 8h and raise to knock out the blinds and hopefully squeeze the mid limper out. With position, I hoping the cutoff misses the flop and without too much risk I can pick up a nice little hand. Normal raise 3x BB.To my surprise, both blinds call and so do both limpers. 15BB pot now. The flop is Jh 4h and 9c - pretty much missed me, nut flush draw, but it'll be hard to get the odds to draw. SB - checks (slowplaying JJ and a flopped set.) BB - checks (Kc Qc) Mid - checks (9h Th) 2nd pair, flush draw and backdoor straight. cutoff - checks (Kh Qh) yep a 3rd heart flush drawButton - check (I'm not going to bluff 4 players, or even semi-bluff) The turn 8h Yeah, I hit my flush, but this is where it gets fun. SB - decides the free card was not a great idea, and he has to win now. Bets pot. BB- foldsMid hits flush and straight flush draw - raises to about 1/3 of his stackCutoff - hit 2nd nut flush and with J on board and KQ in his hand doesn't think it likely the A is out there suited. - re-reraises All-InButton - I have the nuts at the moment and its raised to me - I go all inSB wises up and throws away his set.Mid likes the 2:1 odds and calls. I have both allins covered, the river is a blank and I knock out two final table players, pick up a monster pot and become the new #2 in chips. 7th to 5th wasn't a big difference, but I did win the tourney, and this was the critical hand that gave me enough chips to do it.

I once won a 300 dollar pot in 3-6-12 limit. Not the biggest pot I've ever won but very big for the game I was in. It went like this. I had K-J off suit, there was one raise pre-flop and 4 of us saw the flop of K-J-9 with two diamonds. I bet out and get two raises behind me, I capped it and had three callers. The turn was a blank and the betting was capped again by three of us (one person was already all in). This is where it gets interesting. The river was the K of diamonds. I bet out twelve and was raised by one of the remaining players with money. This put the other guy all in and now it's back to me to reraise. I reraise 12 more and the initial raiseer calls me and raises 8 more (he was out of money as well. Now I am the only one with any money left in front of me (although it wasn't much). At this point, I am flying high because I think I have the nuts so I recheck the board and realize that 10-Q of diamonds beats me and I am almost sure I am beat the way these guys were going at it. The first lady who was all in after the flop had flopped a K high straight. The second guy to be all in had caught an ace high diamond flush on the river and the final guy to go all in had Kings full of nines. When I turned over my Kings full of Jacks, he threw his hat down and started cursing uncontrollably. This hand was a long time ago but I remember it being about 300 dollars which was one of the largest pot I had ever seen in that game. Strangely enough, it may have gotten even twice as big if anyone had any money left.In the grand scheme of things I've won pots three and four times this size but for the size of the game and all that, it was one of the biggest pots I had ever won.

About 3 months ago I was playing in the 2-5 NL game at Harrah's in St. Louis. I bought in for the max of 500. First hand I post the BB, get Q-3 off, flop trips and hit my boat on the river to start to build my stack. Eventually had my chips up to 1100 when this hand comes up.I am dealt 7-7 on the sb. Immediately to my right was "fort chips." The guy must have had 4k in chips. One early position caller, Fort Chip calls, and I raise to 50, hoping that one of them will dump. They both call.Flop comes 4-7-J, with the J and the 4 being hearts. Early position checks, Fort Chips checks and deciding not to slow play my set, I bet 100 worried a bit about hearts. Early position folds, fort chips calls. Turn card is a beautiful 4. Fort Chip checks and I fire out 250. He calls. River card is the A of hearts. I know my hand is good. There is no way Fort Chip doesn't raise pre-flop with J's, A's or 4's. He was too much of a maniac. I started to do a silent "please let him have made his flush." I bet 400, he raises me, putting me all in....I call instantly. He turns over the K-8 of Hearts. I turn over my boat, and rake a pot of close to 2300. It took me an hour to stop shaking.

In actual dollar amounts, it wasn't much. But in BBs it was pretty good. Playing $2-$4 7-stud online 4 handed.I get dealt rolled up 10s. Player A brings it in showing an 8. I call, trying to slowplay my trips. Player B raises, showing a Queen. The one other player at the table folded. Myself and player A both call.4th street looks like thisA: (x-x)8-5me: (10-10)10-9B: (x-x)Q-2B bets. A calls. I call (slowplaying again).5th street:A: (x-x)8-5-8me: (10-10)10-9-4B: (x-x)Q-2-KA bets. I call. B raises. A raises. I call. B caps. Everybody calls.Same thing happens every round from there on out, including the river. I catch a 9 on the river and win with 10s full of 9s.What did the other guys have? A had 8s full of 5s in the first 5 cards. B had rolled up Queens and didn't improve.I got lucky as hell to win that one, but it was a fun hand!

2.7k. It was 5-10 blinds and I was in the bb with QQ. maniac raises utg, call, sb pumps it to 160. I call, maniac calls, limper calls.Flop comes Q 4 9 but 2 spades. SWEET! I ended up allin on flop vs limpers 56 suited. sb had AK and bet 450 then folded to all the action. Turn was a spade, buit the Q of spades so MHIS with quads and i take down the 2.7k pot.

The biggest pot I ever won took place about a year ago at the Taj. I was playing with 1/2 NL and Rob Boyd(Duch's brother). I was the only person at the table who knew who he was. He was playing like a maniac. It was great for the table. Well, 2 hands before my big pot, I doubled up off of Rob when I flopped a set to his open ended draw. I made quads on the turn and he caught his straight anyway on the river. I was now sitting at $450. So, 2 hands later I get dealt AA in the small blind. UTG raises to $12. UTG+1 calls, Rob calls and an older gentleman makes it $35 in late position. I decide I want to be heads up with the older guy so I raise to $100. But UTG and UTG+1 both call. Rob agonizes over how much money is in the pot and how he only has to call about $80 more, but he eventually folded. The older man called too. The flop came 6 high and I knew I had the best hand, so I put $150 out there. This was enough to put them all in. Well they all called and we flipped our hands up. I had AA of course and UTG had tens, UTG+1 had eights and the older man had QQ. I was happy when the turn and river were blanks. I took down about $1000 on that pot. Rob told me later that he had nines and wanted to call to see if he could flop a nine and bust me.

Sat down with 2,500. Within first 30 minutes i get dealt K9 offsuit. I limp in late position, we see a flop four handed. Q J 10 rainbow. No one raised preflop, so i feel i am good here. BB comes out with 75, i cold call, button raises to 225. SB folds, BB calls, i call. Turn is a blank, BB checks, i bet out 400, Button calls, BB calls. At this point i am putting BB on a pretty big hand, either the same hand as myself, or 89. I think the button has a pair and a draw, Q9 or KJ or something. The river is a very bad card for me, the 10. Possible fullhouse out there, but no one has really played like two pair because i feel they would have protected it more on the flop and turn. No raise preflop, so i don't put anyone on a flopped set.As a defensive/value bet, i bet out 300. Button moves all in VERY QUICKLY. BB folds with tons of angst, and i contemplate the 1500 more to me. Because he had the move so quickly, and was staring me down while leaning forward, i made the call and he mucked.Pot Size: $5,615

This biggest hand I've ever won came in a hand of Omaha the very first time I'd ever played it at the casino. I had been killing the 1-2 NL Holdem Game and had my intial buyin of $100 to just over $850 and was getting ready to go. At the time the table was down to about 6 handed and the other 5 all had about $300 left each and decided to switch the game to PL Omaha. Now I'd only ever played it once or twice but was kinda interested and figured I was running good so I'd take a shot. Well after about 3 or 4 hands I look down at see AAJQ single suited on the button. Now I don't know a lot about Omaha but I knew this was a quality hand and decided to raise the pot after 2 limpers with the position. I think my raise was $25 so not exactly pot but close enough. Well everyone calls which concerns me until the flop hits: AA2 with 2 spades (Gin! as DN would say). To my amazement the BB fires out a $50 into the $125 pot and Everyone proceeds to call, with quad Aces I just call figuring if someone happens to hit their gutshot straight flush good for them. The SB actually folds leaving it 4 handed with about $325 in the pot and the most anyone else has is $225 left. The turn brings the K of spades and the BB goes all-in as do both the players inbetween for all around $175-$225. I instantly call and look to see what everyone else is holding with board of A :D A :club: 2 :) K :D 3 spadesSB: 22KQ - has 2's full of Aces1st limper: KK109- K's full of Aces2nd limper: Q :) J :D xx- nut flushMe: AAJQ- Quad Aces baby!Well when the river came a blank I raked in about a $1300 pot and ended the game in the making as the only other guy at the table was now terrified to play me. Sure did make me like Omaha a lot more after that :-)

The biggest, cash game, pot I've won to date came at the Rio during the WSOP. Playing a heads match of 10-20NL with a 2K freeze-out.Just over an hour into the session a hand came up where I flopped top pair, my opponent flopped middle pair, the turn brought me two pair and gave him a nut flush draw. The river makes his flush but fills me up. I get called all-in for a pot of $3,965.I don't remember exactly how the betting went down or I would include it.
