what did daniel want to do with his life

Recommended Posts

I wanted to be a Golf Professional when I was younger, so I became one. Now after 14 years, I want a career change. Be careful for what you want because you might get it... lol. Just being nutty! As for DN quitting poker and do charity work for the rest of his life cause he is rich..... Dumb statement. I am sure Daniel does plenty for charity that he doesnt speak of. I am a devout christian, but I am not becoming a priest. We do what we can for charity when we can, we do not have to quit doing what we love. Barry Greenstein does plenty for charity & he is rich. I dont see him joining the Red Cross anytime soon.God Bless

A million dollars really isn't all that much money in these times.....you would retire with a million dollars? Honestly? And do nothing else to supplement your income? Best of luck.Pro athletes don't give to charity? There's a broad generalization..... lots of pro athletes give tons of money and time to charity. They just aren't in the headlines because most people don't care to read about it. You want a great example? Look at Dikembe Mutombo's charity work in the past.....Just because one acquires wealth puts them under no obligation to give or work to charity, even though the world would be a better place if they did. As much as I would like to see everyone give back, they are not obligated to....

Most true benefactors do not go around and tell people what they have donated and to whom. Stating your donations or charity work on a consistent basis usually comes off as self promotion instead of genuine service. Many celebreties in all fields, including sports and poker, donate time money and resources with little or no fanfare. However, there is one thing that is often overlooked on how celebreties contribute to society and that is to the economy. Celebreties lend their talent, skills and likeness to all sorts of venture capitalism. These ventures employ people, helping to keep our economy healthy. A decade or so ago, book sales were low and new authors had a hard time finding an audience. Oprah started her book club and new authors had a voice and the book industry was pumped with sales. With the advent of the internet, people were worried that books would disapear. Keep in mind, thriving businesses generates taxes to help those who need help. The poker boom has rejevinated the playing card business and has created many other new businesses as well. Money is not one sided. Everything is much more complex than if I had a million dollars I would work for a charity. It is really no ones business what someone does with their money. You never really know who is donating to what.

Daniel should help disabled people. Why doesn't he help disadvantaged people across the country instead of going from Casino to Casino ? Seriously. What's the point in having 5 million if you already have 1 million ? Go help children that were born deaf or without eyesight. I would probably do a lot of charity work if I was rich but I'm not and so that is why I play poker.
You know what I would do if I had $5 million? I would mind my own fucking business. Actually, I would do that even if I was just an average Joe who was posting on an internet forum. Just something to think about.
LOL, you know with all the crap talked on this site, i love it for posts like this one, it makes everything worthwhile, good job :club:

The ONLY way that anyone can say "Daniel should stop playing poker and do charity work for a living" is if someone has made millions upon millions of dollars playing poker and quit it to do charity work. If you haven't done that, what you think he "should" be doing in life is meaningless. The original question is an interesting question (What did he want to do before poker), but I think he's addressed this before.
Hijacking for a moment,Custom,Is your new avatar the lead singer from Nickelback.....if so then....................................WOW!

I heard on TV how Scotty Nguyen used to work at McDonald's and Burger King before finding poker and hitting it big. Now that's quite a story. What did Daniel want to do with his life ? Also, why does Daniel keep playing poker ? Poker causes me so much stress that if I made 1 million, I'd probably give it up or just play for fun at the .10/.25 NL games or something. Or I'd do some charity work or something.
How about:1 - He still plays because he enjoys it.2 - He wants to be the best in his chosen profession. Why do you think the top business men/women in the world go to work everyday. There are lots of very rich people who continue to work because it satisfies them.

Yeah, I think the world would be a lot better if professional athletes weren't so selfish and gave some of their salary back into the community to help sick people. I'm not talking about Daniel, though not everyone else. I was hoping some of you would reply with, "Your post is worthless because Daniel IS doing charity work but no one has replied like that so I assume he isn't. " I don't do charity work because I am one of the sick people. We aren't talking about me and I don't claim to be rich. First of all, if I was rich, I wouldn't make a website where all I talk about is being rich. I like Daniel Negreanu and that is why I'm here but I think it would be nice if he helped some people every now and then. No, I'm not kidding. If I made a million, I'd never work again and I'd probably help people but I sure as hell wouldn't try to make a few more million because that's completely pointless.
After reading your first post in this thread, I was really trying to get through the whole thing before responding, but after this nonsense, I can no longer restrain myself. First of all....Daniel needs to answer to himself and his conscience, not anyone else, and certainly not you. Secondly, I don't know where you live, but 1 million dollars to last you the rest of your life if you are only in your 30's is not that much. He has to pay for housing......my house is worth $500,000 and I assure you....it's not that great.....1800 sq ft is adequate for my family of 4, but it's no palace. DN has to pay health insurance for himself and his family for life, as well as disability insurance, life insurance and the other benefits that many of us receive from our more traditional forms of employment. Lori and DN haven't started a family yet, but my husband and I are planning on college expenses of up to $250,000 for each of our 2 children by the time they get there. That is 1 million gone....and DN hasn't bought any groceries yet. I think it's wonderful if you make a million and decide to donate all of it, but that does not give you the right to judge others for choosing to safeguard their family's interests . I have no idea of all of the charities DN is involved with. I do know he has arranged for this site and donates some of his time to us. He gave several members of this forum a wonderful opportunity to meet and play poker with him via the logo contest. Watching DN on tv got me interested in poker. I have a very stressful job. The entertainment he has provided on tv, this forum, and getting me interested in poker has made my life more pleasant. The effect you have on your fellow man is not just measured monetarily.
