As far as players I have met in person and how they were to me I would put these is there as top 10 NO order.Daniel Negreanu --- Never played withDan Harrington --- Never played withChris Moneymaker --- Never played withFreddy Deeb --- Never played with onlinePhil Hellmuth --- Have played with online and livePeter "The Bandit" Evans --- Have played with liveMattias Anderson --- Have played with liveAnnie Duke --- Have played with onlineDevilfish --- Have played with liveJames Woods --- Have never played with but a super nice guy. He and I hung out after lasts year's WSOP and went shopping at the Gift Shop (Please no Homo jokes tyvm) and actually helped him buy some clothes. It was so funny as he was clueless to what size to buy for himself. I made a short movie of him getting us some icecream out of the fridge at the Gift Shop. He thought it was funny watching himself which I thought was strange considering his movie career but insisted I e-mail him the movie clip after I got home. 8)
Wierdest. Story. Ever.

Everyone has left out Marcel Luske. Over on TaoPoker.blogspot.com he has a thing where he asked marcel to talk to a cancer patient on the phone and Marcel did it and has asked about the guy every day after that. Marcel was the guys favorite player.
uhh I believe he has been mentioned here more than several times. I'm more in shock that only one person has mentioned Paul Darden. I live in CT and play at Foxwoods regularly and have run into him once or twice. he is a class act and very friendly. Everyone else at the poker room feels the same way about him. Raymer is also a local nice guy and all around neat person.
Barry G, was in on that phone call. Him John Juanda, and Phil Gordon Really are the best, they donate tons of money, and, are basically using poker for philanthropyAlso, almost any vietnamiese player is charitable. Seriously, that's not just being stereotypical.

1. Phil Gordon (tie)2. Chris "Jesus" (tie)3. David Williams (really cool and down to earth)4. Erik Sidel (very humble)5. Phil Laak (funny dude)I don't have Daniel on this list because I have met him on a few occasions and came across cocky to me. Seems like he expects everyone to know who he is.........Also, Phil Ivey has a tough character, but once he warms up is actually a cool guy. Believe it or not, Chan is also a very nice guy as well. Spent some time talking with him in Vegas. Nice guy.

Nice to be thought of in this way but unfortunately I have my character flaws and nasty side too.On the plus side, however, there are very many decent and noce people in poker.Recently my best freind flew over from the UK for a couple of days and played in a Bellagio daily $500 tournament which he was fortunate enough to win. (Got incredibly lucky and it was his first ever live tournament). On winning he came up to me and said he was suprised at how many decent people he had come across during the tournament as he had expected most of them to be the sterotypical degenerate smoking gambler type.In recent times it is extremely heartwarming to see that most people are coming to realise that the overwhwlming majority of poker players are throughly decent human beings. And on a final note, I along with many others from time to time enjoy trying to wind up Phil Helmuth, BUT the bottom line is that despite his tantrums at the table he is a genuinely nice guy and a very decent top class poker player who always makes himslef available to fans and does a lot of good work for charity.
Thank you Harry for standing up for Phil... I'll be rooting for him to take down the Omaha bracelet today!Good luck to you in the rest of the 'Series and may you take down a bracelet soon too.

My wife and I stayed at the Wynn for their Grand opening weekend. Fabulous place, I highly recommend it. I never did see DN and the lovely Lori but many others did and said he/they are the real deal. Good for you DN. I did run into Liz Taylor though!!! Very friendly lady. Man did she draw a crowd...and seemed to just revel in the attention.Anyway, played mostly at the Bellagio and Wynn. Bellagio has a VIP room, and while waiting for a piddly cash game I sat near the door minding my own business. Out came Jen Harmon on her way to the toi-toi, who easily smiled and said a quick hello. She is adorable. Also in the room was T. Brunson who said nothing and looked angry. Hmmmm. At one point out walked Johnny Chan and he looked like he wanted to kick my ass. Wow. Later out popped Freedy Deeb, who was playing and could be heard swearing like a drunken sailer. Hilarious guy and said hello no problem. Those are the only people I encountered there that I can remember.I did play with Raymer at the Casino Arizona this spring. He was in town for some legal convention thing and sat in for a while at our $5-$150 game (the closest thing you can get to a no limit game in AZ). He played very well and was an easy going sort who had no problem shooting the bull with us. He bought in for $300 (the limit) but left with over a $800 a little over an hour later. Very nice guy. Sadly I never did get a hand good enough to go up against him. Probably just as well...That about sums up my brushes with poker imortality. Anyone else?...

Harry Demetriou and Daniel Negreanu are the only 2 pros that I have had contact with and that was through either chat, PM or email. (Yeah, I watched Layne play a few times but I never said anything in the chat room.)All I can say is that I was impressed that both of them knew about my infatuation with Layne Flack and gave me a heads up on Flack's career (i.e. magazine appearance, etc.) That blew me away. Harry and Daniel will always have a warm place in my heart. I also want to state that I play with a group of 50 plus people each week through league and home games. I have always felt welcomed. A year or so ago, they were all strangers. Now, I call many of them friends. It is great how such a competitive game can bring you in contact with all sorts of people. What's better, is the relationships that are formed through this contact. Thanks Harry and Daniel for the kindness you have shown. Thanks to all the poker players out there who show class and grace while talking all of my money! :club:

I would imagine any top 5 list made by someone on the inside would include Juanda. I have some friends that attend WPT and WSOP events (mostly as spectators/side game players and to try to satellite in), and everyone seems to respect and like Juanda. He's also incredibly gracious to amateurs as evidenced by him asking my friends how they were doing everytime he spotted them. They also had dinner with Seidel and Juanda after John asked me friends to join them when he spotted them at the buffet. In short, super nice guy.

Most of the pros are nice. But isn't that the case in life? People be they famous or not are cool as long as you treat them with respect. (unless you live in NYC) Of course there are times when you're going to meet someone and they aren't going to be "cool" or they are going to be a real "jerk" But they might be having a bad day. It happens from time to time. Remember until recently these people lived normal lives. No one knew who they were. And now they are getting crushed with attention. A pro might be nice to 99 people and rude to just one persona and it's that one person who tells everyone what a jerk such and such was. Too bad.
