It really feels like you all aren't holding yourselves accountable for tilting. The easiest way to prevent tilt is to sign off when you feel it coming. Everybody feels it coming, the anger/hate/frustration/I'm looking down at 73o but I absolutely hate the UTG raiser so I'm going to float him and win this pot no matter what feeling. Just sign off and it goes away, and over time you can increase your tolerance. Tilting easily accounts for some of the largest negative disparities between players' actual win rates and their true win rate, yet it's the most overlooked error in poker IMO.
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I always know when I'm starting to play bad, and 90% of the time, it gets worse before it gets better. My problem is that I always tell myself I can just start playing good, and that my image will make me more profitable then usual. It's a great excuse when all I want to do is keep gambling so I can get back to even. I do tilt less often than I used to, but a couple times a month, it still bites me in the ***.

I don't think you can benefit consistently enough from a metagame standpoint to justify putting yourself at risk while tilted. The lack of clear thought can cost you money, and the consequence of getting more tilted means a legitimate chance of a big move down in stakes or BUSTO.Also, I :club: August, the finally not run awful month7600 hands~$1150Ship it.

Oh yeah, I totally get that concept.......when I'm not on tilt. Unfortunately the table image vs. subpar play concept is one of those decisions that goes away about as fast as my ability to fold top pair against an overbet raise once I'm tilted.

I've seen both you two around here. And we should be able to razz each other w/o the obligatory "I'm kidding"at least, that's my preferenceright, dikfors ?( then again, I have BR self control ,so I tend to be less defensive ...ooooohhh oh no he didnt .... )
what's a dikfor?hahahaha
I dont know how you guys blow up like that.I feel anxiety just thinking about sitting in a 10/20LHE game with $25k sitting in my accounts.
see you're playing some more 5/10 tonight - good luck.i'm in the same boat - i still get nervous playing 3/6, even with 1000+ bb's and 20K hands. i guess that's why we play limit.
Actuary "Needs a title"How about Gen Strat downer?
The SNL last week with Debbie Downer and Steve Carrell playing a similar character was hilarious. You should use his name (i forget).

Well, I already got almost all of my blowup back. I made $400 playing SnGs today, and then I went out and played live tonight, and found that (surprise, surprise), that 1/2 NL game with the $300 pot limit was a lot easier to concentrate on when the money actually mattered. I finished up $900 for that session, meaning that I've gotten back $1300 of the $1700 I lost. It's good too, because the county fair's this week and I love to bet the ponies, and also one of the regulars from the casino is planning to try to get a 5/10 home game going next weekend which I don't really have the roll for, but still really want to take a shot at. Oh yeah, I also have some non-gambing expenses as I need to license my car this week and make my first payment.

My goals are to play atleast 100 sit n gos. 50 MTT or more. Play 4k hands of SHNL, and Im trying to play more stud so the number of hands is yet to be determined. I dont want to put a number on what I want to win, trying not to be "result" oriented. Its tough not to focus on what I expect to win.

I had a messed-up night at absolute last night. I was up 19.24BB/100 across multiple 5/10 sessions last night. But, add-in my 3/6 and 2/4 and I was actually -.70BB/100. I had a 120 hand 2/4 session where I won 0 (zero, no, zilch) pots.Winning $315 never felt so...confused.-M

Oh yeah, and my offer to MSN while playing at absolute still stands. Strictly no cheating. But, maybe some mentoring so we can review each other's hands and all improve. mjd-im@surly.org And plenty of name-calling when we suck-out on each other, lol.-M

anyone have advice on which tables to play?(short handed, full, turbo, regular)thanks
the 6 Man standard are beatable.2nd pays 120.3rd in Full pays 1002nd in Full pays 150.I think getting in Top 2 in 6 Man is a better value. It takes les time too on ave.Downside, harder to play more tables.Play seems worse overall as well. Now, the caveat: I play very few $50. And no Full $50I'm doing well in them, just prefer lower risk. But the above is true for $5-$30's and no reason to think the play is not worse in the 6 Man there too.
