Event 5: 2500 Nlhe Short-handed

Matusow Hits RiverMike Matusow and his oponent are all-in on the flop (9spade5diamond3diamond). His opponent has two pair, and Matusow has top pair and a flush draw (9diamond8diamond). The turn is the 2spade and Matusow needs some help on the river. He gets it in an unlikely way. Matusow doesn't hit his nine or a diamond, but instead the board pairs five's (5club) negating his opponent's second pair. Matusow takes home a nice-sized pot and is at $31,000. He exclaims that's what makes a great poker player, going in with the worst hand and hitting the river. can someone please explain this hand to me? What two pair can his oppoinent have if a 9 or a 5 can't help him? I'm assuming the guy had 9 3 and the guy doing the coverage is just an idiot.
yea that would make sense so that they both have 9s and 5s but mike has the 8 kicker the other guy has a 3 therefore mike wins

Negreanu Goes All-InDaniel Negreanu ($62,000) from the small blind raises and is called by Steve Banks in the big blind ($20,00). The flop comes 10spade7heart6spade. Both players check. The turn pairs the board (10spade) and Negreanu leads out and bets $2,400. Banks raises $3,000 and Negreanu immediately goes all-in. Banks is thinking of making the call, and Negreanu says, "I knew I'd get you sooner or later." Kid Poker is now stretching and smiling and talking about going to his chiropractor. Banks folds and Negreanu turns over his Aclub7spade. The chip-leader says, "I knew I had you." Banks says, "If I knew you had that, I would have called." Banks is at $12,000 and Negreanu is in a playful mood punching the air and posing for a picture after building his stack to $70,000.

It's good to see him doing good, but sooner or later he's going to get caught if he keeps this up.

Ever think he's making reads and putting people on hands and not just being a reckless loose-cannon?!?!? Plus, he has had the best of it when the money went in everytime.

20k cant hurt him. I'm assuming nobody at his table, make that nobody in the tournament can hurt Daniel so hes pushing them around. Hes playing the big stack to perfection. Go Go Daniel! :club:

You all scared me for a minute. I got home from work late, turned on my computer, clicked on CardPlayer to see if DN or anyone else interesting was doing well, saw DN is chip leader ..... and I couldn't find this thread! For a few moments I thought that you had abandoned the railbirding. Then I found this thread. Whew! All is right with the world again.I've got lots of catch-up reading to do! :club:

In one exchange, Deeb turns around and yells, "Hey, Donkey!" When The Mouth answers back, "Don't talk to me!" Deeb gets a good laugh out of the crowd when he points out that Matusow is the only person who answered...

Dont defend themThey gave an update every 45 minutes when DN and Mike Sexton were HU. Was that hard to track?
Yeah, we sure had a lot of time to kill between hands, um I mean updates (as evidenced by our lengthy thread). :club:

Thanks. I really couldn't find it for a good 10 minutes -- and couldn't believe nobody cared that Daniel was doing so well. I think it is great that the community of railbirds will start and maintain a thread even without it being pinned and without updates from DN. That's one of the things I like about FCP. (Sorry to get schmaltzy, guys.)

Negreanu Rakes In Another PotSeat 1 raises to $800 and is called by the small blind and Daniel Negreanu in the big blind. The flop comes AspadeKheart5diamond. Seat 1 bets $1,500, forcing the player in the small blind to fold, and Negreanu calls. The turn brings the 6heart and it is checked around. The river is the 5heart, Negreanu bets out $3,800. Seat 1 calls, but mucks his hand once Negreanu shows Aheart4heart. Negreanu now has a stack of $81,500.

I will defer to your superior knowledge of the players.
tought crowd is right...but why did you put dutch boyd in bold?
Dutch Boyd Doubles UpWith a board showing A97, Dutch Boyd flips over 99 for a set pushes all-in and is quickly called by seat 4 who shows Ak for top pair off of the flop. The turn and river are no help to seat 4 and dutch doubles up to $48,000.
