Daniel Negreanu Is An Uninteresting And Insecure Person......

Superfluous vocabulary aside, isn't the simple solution to just not read his blog or forum if you don't think it's interesting?

I think it's a little f'ed up that you discussed IP addresses; I feel like that's giving away a bit much info. Not that I don't agree with a negative assessment of the OP.
I disagree. It's not like he gave out his home address or even the IP. He just gave a reason, with backup, as to why he can say that the guy is not someone else with a similar name. What's the harm?

Yeah well...people come and go around here all the time I'm sure. Some go to great pains to make sure their exit gets noticed. This is attention seeking behaviour, and usually relates to self-esteem. Hence the irony of OP's "look at me please...I'm leaving" post.

Because he released personal information to the general public without that person's permission. You just don't do that sort of thing. It can certainly be inferred by the OC reference in Nate's profile, but still. It's kind of like "hey, you're a moderator, you get to see things that regular posters don't for a reason." What if I didn't want anyone knowing where I was from, for whatever reason? For instance, say KDawg worked at BankofAmerica instead of being a moderator here, and said "Oh, it can't be that Nate, b/c his bank account information is based in LA." Would you be ok with that too? It's the same principle.

This forum, and it's creator, used to be so interesting. Over the last few months however, the forum, along with the creator, have proven themselves to be only prima facie interesting. They both appear to be comprised of entities which lack actual self confidence, and thus must reassure themselves of their self worth through typing their attempts at philosophical inquiry into said forum. These individuals hope to affirm at least a quasi-positive feeling of actual self-originated substance to their "opinions" through the amount of people which show interest in said typed comments. Here's a clue, both to those with 7 trillion posts, and to anyone who tries to affirm their self worth through an electronic communication forum. You are looking in the wrong spot for your self esteem. Suffice to say I hope you all- and particularly Daniel due to his visibility- find actual self esteem someday. The world will be a better place for it, and in an exponentially more important case for each of you- so will your lives. The real question now, for each of you, becomes.....WHO IS JOHN GALT? Since I won't be visiting the site anymore after this post, I wish you all good luck in your search for the answer to this vitally important question. Goodbye.Just in case you come back after your "last post" like so many others have, I'll note for your benefit that the bolded section above is exactly what YOU are doing. And just in case you think that what you wrote in philosophising, I advise you not to confuse making blanket statements (which you seem to have a knack for) with philosophical inquiry. And please spare me the Ayn Rand reference. I too went through a Rand phase - for about a week. Trust me, get over it, you'll feel better.Incidentally, John Galt was an Englishman who founded the town of Guelph, Ontario. Which happens to be Gavin Smith's home town. What a nice little oblique reference - but it's likely you were unaware of it.
i really like how the forum is "comprised of entities" - made me want to rewatch Ghostbusters. But yeah, all us pseudo-intellectuals go through an Ayn Rand phase. Many of us also use it, and our larger vocabulary, to rationalize why we are better than people who are more successful, interesting, etc. Then we get over it.Love the Guelph reference by the way. I go to school in Guelph and a friend of mine just interviewed Gavin Smith for an article for our school paper. I wanted to post it, but could't find an online version unfortunately.G-RY-PHON and then an S oh yes, cause we are the best

Yes you are right. Thanks to that slip up I was able to narrow down the identity of the OP to one of the millions of people in SOCAL. Give me time And I will know his exact entity and I am so going to his house, ringing the door bell and running away before he gets to the door. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! His uppance will come!

Man, some people shouldn't be allowed to read certain books without a certain intelligence level or at least an ability to think critically... Apparently in the wrong hands, Atlas Shrugged can be just as potentially poisonous as Mein Kampf...
well, in all fairness, Ayn Rand shouldn't be subjected on anyone

The strategy forums have helped me out a lot, and seriously I don't know what to do with my spare times at work without these forums. For whatever reasons of creating this website and forums I just want to say thanks to DN. this guy's IP is from SoCal, Nate tha Great is from chicagoHow do you happen to know the IP of a 2+2 forum poster?

I gave no personal info out at all, I just said where the location was coming from. Your really making a mountain out of a molehill IMO. In no way did I direct people to the OP and just stated a region where he lives. Considering that Daniel read my post before you making yours, I'm pretty sure that he has no problem with what I wrote. I didn't provide any sensitive information

I don't know the IP of Nate Tha Great, I just know that he lives in chicago. He is one of the main guys at baseball prospectus. Actually, he's written some very interesting stuff and one of his articles is up at ESPN.com(his name is nate silver)

Atlas Shrugged was so naive. But it a necessary phase to go through to get your grown up card. Good luck with the Socialism phase. But I am from SoCal and let me defend SoCal by saying not everyone is this shallow.Only about 75% of us. The rest moved here from the midwest. But the Botox makes for a good poker face since we can't give away tells when your face is frozen..so we got that going for us.And yea that was kinda not cool to give off info that isn't available to everyone. Doesn't Phil Helmuth live in SoCal?

I've read posts simililar to the OP's a lot over the years. I have pretty thick skin so they don't bother me at all. Frankly, deep down, I feel a little bad for the guy. You see, and this is just a little theory of mine that is based on life experience and nothing else, I honestly feel like a lot of "smart people" hate me, or have a problem with me, because people understand me and not them.
In this instance. I am going to have to guess that this bolded portion is quite a stretch. What is your views on people who THINK they are smart? And search for self-esteem by putting down others on the internet with big words? That would probably be more accurate. But good point overall. :club:

Ok, I respectfully disagree. And though I respect DN very much, his opinion/lack thereof will not affect my principles on this matter. Hope they don't affect yours either.

When the original poster learns the difference between "it's" as a contraction for "it is" and "its", the possesive form of "it", I may give his apparent erudition some credence. That itself is a give-away; he is essentially illiterate, and spent some time thumbing through pseudo-pop-psych self-help books, a dictionary at his -- excuse me, "he's" -- side, to compose a superficially meaningful diatribe that is nothing more than a feeble attempt at denigration of those who have something meangingful to say in this forum. So, to you, I answer, after some consideration of how to express my opinion in the briefest of forms: Bite me!

dude i'm not sure what you're upset about. he didn't give out any personal information that wasn't listed in his location bar. i live in calgary, but i'm not worried that someone is going to track me down based solely on that info. socal isn't even a city on its own. i could say i live in westcan. i'm not sure how this has something to do with principles. if he gave his street address and phone number, then you have something to worry about. but he wouldn't/didn't.

I just don't think it's appropriate. I'm a big right-to-privacy kind of guy. This is on principle, not because I think the information will be useful in tracking this guy down. I'm not mad, not :club:. Just sayin. Move on now~

his location says "the real OC", which, unless my geographical information is incorrect (which it well may be) is in socal. right-to-privacy is fine, but he stated his location. but whatever.
