  1. This forum, and it's creator, used to be so interesting. Over the last few months however, the forum, along with the creator, have proven themselves to be only prima facie interesting. They both appear to be comprised of entities which lack actual self confidence, and thus must reassure themselves of their self worth through typing their attempts at philosophical inquiry into said forum. These individuals hope to affirm at least a quasi-positive feeling of actual self-originated substance to their "opinions" through the amount of people which show interest in said typed comments. Here's a
  2. I'd rather see Time Warner cable not **** all of us poker fans by switching the a channel that isn't included in the basic package. I live in Orange County, anyone else have this problem?
  3. Whoever said that you can't beat the market in the long run is obviously not very learned in the art of value investing. Why don't you ask Warren Buffett whether or not the market can be beaten in the long run.
  4. Even if the "Nashville being in a weak division" logic DOES apply to Detroit, and certainly it would seem that it does, they are still 8 points better than the top teams in the East, and well ahead of the Stars in 2nd in the West as well. So at worst they are just as good as the other best teams in the league I would think. That is a really weak division though I never thought about that being a point inflator for Preds and Wings......It is clearly by far the weakest divison in the Western Conference.
  5. I agree that playing the Preds was preferable before this happened, but now it is EXTREMELY preferable. Or, as runthemover put it, a "golden ticket" seed. Although any golden ticket that leads to a second round matchup with the Detroit Red Wings is more like a silver or even a bronze ticket. We'll see.By the way the Ducks just spanked the Canucks AGAIN tonight and officially clinched a playoff spot, and stayed 3 points ahead of the Sharks and moved 4 points ahead of the Avs with all having 4 games remaining. They are also now 2 points behind the Preds with Preds haveing 4 remaining as well
  6. With Vokoun out for Nashville, 5th place in the WC is ever so much more valuable than it was previously. Nothing is guaranteed in the playoffs, but a Vokoun-less Nashville is a much more highly desirable first round opponent as opposed to Calgary or Dallas. The Ducks are obviously in the drivers seat, but 2 out of their last 5 games are against teams battling for the final playoff spot in the Canucks and Oilers, and 2 more are against the 3rd place Flames, although with the Flames having not much to play for that might not be bad. It's gonna be an interesting and VERY IMPORTANT stretch run.
  7. No Way. I bet that given the chance, Brian Burke could come up with the science of logic in a better way than Aristotle did. Yeah, he's that good.
  8. Here is the list of people I most admire in world history, which I compiled using extensive and complicated econometric models, designed to measure their total contribution to the well being of all subsequent human beings who encountered their works of genius and ingenuity or any form of extension of said works of genius and ingenuity:1.) Ducks GM Brian Burke2.) Aristotle3.) Leonardo Da Vinci 4.) Ayn Rand
  9. There aren't that many people on earth who could ingest 50 beers over a 24 hour period, if any. The only way to do it would be a tactical attack where you got a bunch of sleep beforehand, woke up at like 9 am and then drank exactly two beers every hour or so coupled with plenty of decent food and water to go along with it. The thing is by hour 15 around 12 o'clock that night, when you were 30 beers deep, things would get a little tricky. Things like not passing out.
  10. GOODNIGHT KINGS!!!!! It feels good to not only (all but) eliminate your cross town rivals from play-off contention, but to humiliate them while you do it, breaking open a tie game to score 4 goals in the 3rd period and win 6-2. The Kings aren't completely screwed, but with the Sharks having 3 games in hand against them and the same # of points, this is what will most likely happen. Either Edmonton or Vancouver, and most likely Vancouver, will succumb to the Sharks over the next few games, and the Sharks will take over either 7th or 8th seed, with either Edmonton or Vancouver in the oth
  11. 500 is the buy in, not the blinds. The blinds are 5/10 most likely. Compare THAT to the 300/600 blinds on HSP on GSN.
  12. Yeah it is always boring when a 7 seed SWEEPS the 2nd seed Detroit Red Wings, including a win in game with 5 overtimes. The Wild series may have been boring depending on what kind of hockey you like, but Giguere's performance was RIDICULOUS, as Thriceknurd pointed out, and this was maybe one of the only instances where a goalie can make the game exciting all by himself. Anyways, that was then, this is now, and we are a completely different team with a lot of young playmakers as well as veteran leaders. Unfortunately Colorado and San Jose both dodged bullets tonight and won by slim margins,
  13. I would say that the Ducks have a legit chance of catching Nashville in the 4 spot if it weren't for the fact that Nashville might have the easiest schedule I have ever seen over the next couple of weeks. It's something like Chicago, Columbus, Chicago, St. Louis, Phoenix, Minnesota, etc. The Ducks have one of the toughest for sure, with a bunch of games against good as well as desperate teams trying to catch them. We go LA, Dallas, LA, and then Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and some others not necessarily in that order. We will certainly pick up points in a lot of these games but I can't
  14. THE ANAHEIM MIGHTY DUCKS ARE CLEARLY THE HOTTEST TEAM IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE....BAR NONE!!!!!! I live 10 minutes from the Arrowhead Pond and am a huge Ducks fan, so I am biased, but were I not, I would still be forced to admit this. The most points over the last 10 games of any other team other than the Red Wings is one thing, but the way that they are doing it is another thing entirely. This 6 team race for the final 4 playoff spots is intense, and the Ducks are right in the thick of it and kicking *** more than any other team involved. Big wins over Dallas, Colorado, Nashville, and
