Hand #49Hand #49 - Jared Davis has JdJs against Michael Wehner's AsKc . The flop comes jc 6d 2s , and Davis flops a set of jacks. Davis bets to win the pot.Does anyone else think this is a terrible bet....You flop top set on a non connected rainbow board.... ya i think ill bet just in case he has a jack?? What can you hope he has made there that you have to worry about? Let him bet the turn then re raise him, you have the current nuts and there are no turn cards that are really gonna kill you.Why bet that?
Because you can't slowplay the nuts every time, you need to vary your play. There's much more to the situation than what you listed in that short paragraph.

Depends what the preflop action was. Possible he thought he was up against a PP and was hoping to get reraised. Could have been up against an aggressive opponent and figured the chances of his opponent calling or reraising was good considering how non-threatening the board is.

If he raised pre-flop, likely, then any bet is not always seen as hitting the flop, often it is seen as nothing but a continuation bet.I'm in this same hand with QQ, I'm thinking his bet is nothing and I'm re-raising to see if I'm good.

Or maybe they are tipping the dealer after the big pots? :club:
you may be on to something here. Dn does have that nice guy reputation and an Ace on the river like that certainly would warrant a large tip.

I agree, but he should have checked with that flop. No real draws on that flop, so unless the other guy has an over pair or the case jack with a good kicker, his opponent would fold. With the texture of that flop, he needed to check to give his opponent a chance to catch up with a free card.

QFT, if you c-bet against 1 opponent most of the time and then you suddenly check a flop it looks slightly suspicious no? And you have a monster, build a pot.

Makes alot more sence if you include the cards involved :club: not to single you out since all of the 3 or 4 people who posted it copied it without the cards too......

If you're going to c/bet almost every flop, you have to do it with the nuts too. I bet that out 99% of the time too.
Sometimes you got to show it and then open farrel. You HAVE to vary your play at this level
