  1. i don't doubt that. i do wonder about the person who did it, though. not making any assumptions, but there have been many incidents like this where the perp was a minority.
  2. i figured this would be about this
  3. apologies if this kind of thing has already been posted. i haven't been on this site in years probably so i don't know what goes on around here. also, this might be in the wrong forum, i dunno.received the following email:DefecatingDeer, endisorc has sent you a new personal message titled "We are interested in your nick-name". You can read this personal message by following the link belowi was surprised by that. what's interesting about my nick? i didn't even remember what it was!and the PM i got:Greetings friend DefecatingDeer !I am interested in your nick-nameWe collect some nicknamesSelecti
  4. from what i read, he called off $1400 pre-flop with 69o against mike's AA, flopped the nut straight, mike hit top set on the turn, and I guess he went broke. don't understand that preflop play and he got absurdly lucky with that kinda flop. it's a shame MM didn't outdraw him on the river. hassan would've deserved it playing the way he did.
  5. dunno what he does live, if anything, but he's played 100/200 on stars and 300/600 lowball and LHE + the big NL games on UB. he's hit and miss from what i've seen. he'll either win big or lose big, rarely anything in between. complains constantly lol.one thing does intrigue me, though. why doesn't he play any big online tournies like the stars $500k? or even the higher buy-in party SNGs? that Tony G guy (the really obnoxious and abusive guy from a couple of the WPT episodes) has said he's made $150k from those things. Phil's clearly light years ahead of someone like that, so why not take a cha
  6. My statements were entirely about limit hold em, just to clarify. It's not a game I particularly like, and it's probably my weakest game, but these people are bulletproof. I'm exaggerating, but their thinking (or lack thereof) is just amazing to me. "It's only one more bet." "I know he has aces, but maybe I'll catch a third deuce on the turn." "Hey, a diamond on the flop. I got three of those now!"The game itself frustrates me. I wouldn't call myself a "live one," but I'm not a good LHE player and I can't neutralize these people like I can in a game like PLO or Stud8.
  7. .. they've actually gotten worse. Not worse in a "kickass, I'm gonna get my top pair paid off by a busted gutshot" kinda way.. worse in a, "this guy is not folding. EVER. and neither are the other 6 or 7 people here" way.I always hear how you want these calling stations in your game. I don't. I played a $50 heads-up match recently with a guy from Sweden. Great player, great game. I like playing against people who know when to fold.. or at least know HOW to fold. For me, the games are worse now than at any point before. These guys play with just reckless abandon. Doesn't matter if you're a 90% f
  8. If people listened to Yuv the way they listen to smash .. I could actually make sense of this place!
  9. I like the play. The steal from the CO is nice (open-folding always makes me feel dirty), you got your money in as a big favorite, and you just got unlucky. I think you made the right play from start to finish and you were playing to win. As people tightened up, you got tricky, but all you can do is make the correct plays regardless of the eventual outcomes. Good stuff.
  10. This is beyond silly. You mistook nationality for ethnicity. That's pretty bad.must've JUST beat me to it
  11. I don't know if Barry's ever been known as a limit specialist, which seems to be what you're implying. They play a PL game and he loses. Something makes me doubt this is the first time he's lost. However, he has four top-ten PLO tournament finishes, a variety of wins/high finishes in no limit events, a 5th-place finish in a PLHE event, and of course his no limit deuce win. For him to do as well as he's done and to continue to beat the best in the world he can't rely on his math skills alone. I wonder how many threads have been devoted to how he looks. I'll be honest, though: I'd probably be in
  12. I think my posts here are generally okay. I don't waste my time insulting other posters and most of my posts are fairly intelligent. I did use a qualifier in my statement for a reason, though: I just might be wrong!I based what I said on this:http://www.thepokerdb.com/player.php?id=5893vshttp://www.thepokerdb.com/player.php?id=4757Maybe he's won MILLIONS I don't know about. Johnny Bax: Total Winnings: $117829Total Final Tables: 39dblgutshot:Total Winnings: $348725Total Final Tables: 10Apparently, those are just results from one site but I think dblgutshot is more impressive. Why? dblgutshot sc
  13. I appreciate this a lot. I don't live anywhere near a casino so I'm always dying to play any mixed game. Full Tilt has HORSE tourneys but I can't stand Razz. Let me know if you come across any other sites with games like this.
  14. im with Yuv on this one. he's known mostly, if not only, to people who pay close attention to online poker, people who only care about tournaments, or people who know how badly Chan destroyed him. i wouldn't have a single idea who he was had i not read about him losing to Chan. there's a world outside of tournament poker, and i think the rankings on pocketfives are VERY arbitrary. unless im wrong, hasn't his tournament success actually been rather limited? hasn't dblgutshot done MUCH better? why no praise for him?saying he's one of the best "all around card players in the world" is beyond absu
  15. Dude, I was outraged when I saw that! I was gonna post just to ask that very same thing. Shame on you! Who doesn't like a bouncing, huge-boobed asian girl?*shakes head*
  16. Couldnt say it better myself... Limit's rather addictive once you get into the math real heavy...I'm with ya here. Honestly, I was more of a NL/PLO player for quite a while, but as I investigate the math more and more I find myself playing limit ring games exclusively and leaving no limit to the tournament format.
  17. I posted a long reply to someone else asking about heads-up play:http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...3823&highlight=Not sure if that's of any help. I try, though.
  18. I dunno if you're talking about hold em (or no limit specifically), but my strategy is as follows and you can apply it to just about any heads-up game, limit or otherwise, doesn't matter. The general ideas work across the board.I think there are 3 big keys to playing good heads-up poker: aggression, deception, and hand-reading skills. That's true of poker in general, but a premium is placed on those things when it's just you and someone else. You're gonna be playing a lot of bad hands, so you're just gonna have to be smarter and trickier than your opponent. If you have your opponent beaten psy
  19. Daniel's got it out for the jews.JUST A JOKE. lol.Maybe there's some resentment coming from one or both sides, who knows. All good poker players have big egos (don't bother arguing. if you're good, you know it) and they clash sometimes. Not a big deal.
