  1. Hey...you're the nimrod in there putting more money in with nothing on the flop when you MISSED completely. AK, no matter what you may have heard, is not a pair. It is worse than 2,2. Got it? You overplayed AK...simple as that. Not a bad beat. Your mistake began when you called pre-flop. Learn to play and quit your bitchin.
  2. Play Poker Like The Pros just happened to be the first book I read on Poker, because it was one I found at the library after I got hooked on TV poker back in 2003. So Phil has long been a favorite of mine, even if he IS a bit of a crybaby and a bit of a braggard. Hey, sometimes when you are trying to build confidence in yourself, out of a deep need to be loved because you didn't get enough respect or whatever, you come off sounding like an a** hole to people, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a great tournament player. :-)
  3. So sorry to hear this. I never had any children, but have two dogs I love very much, and I know the toughest day of my life will be when either one of them has to leave me. I don't look forward to that day, but in a way, it's nice that we can save them the pain and suffering of a long, slow, painful illness. I WISH we could do the same for some humans. When I get run down at the end of my life, I know I'd want someone who loves me to put me down and send me off peacefully.
  4. Funny...if you live in VATICAN CITY....you can play poker online. But in the U.S. and Canada? Sorry, no dice. LOL!! The frickin POPE can play poker....but YOU can't.
  5. What a drag...didn't even KNOW the guy. I'm kinda sad now. I'm gonna go somewhere and sleep it off.
  6. Yeah....I remember MY first beer.
  7. I'm folding AQ like the readheaded stepchild it is. Listen to T.J. AQ is the DEVIL!!!!!!!!!
  8. They nearly had a Phil/Jennifer week when they had Gordon, Ivey, Tilly and Harman. They should do a full on Phil/Jennifer week. Could be:Phil LaakPhil IveyJennifer HarmanPhil GordonPhil HellmuthJennifer TillySweet game there.
  9. I just saw Moneymaker scalping low numbers at the Deli.
  10. I read this whole thread and no one mentioned the little hissy fit between Phil G and Lindgren on Poker After Dark?? I was hoping that would go to biatch slappin...but no such luck.
  11. Well, heck, NUDIE question does sound better. Let's start a new thread.
  12. Biggest mistake was going to a HIGHER limit when you didn't have enough roll to play the limit you were in...AND you were steaming. You should have gone down in limit, but only as the 2nd choice. You REALLY need to learn to walk away, and not throw more money away after you've suffered a loss. Next time, build at a lower limit for a while, so a couple bad beats don't take your whole roll.
  13. Phil Gordon is actually responsible for me finding poker. I started watching Celebrity Poker Showdown when it first aired...more for the celebrities than anything. Phil was interesting, and got me interested in poker. I went to the library looking for books and ended up with Hellmuth's, but then I eventually bought Gordon's Black book and thought it was a great read...about how he got started...as well as some good tips. Then picked up the Little Green Book when it came out. I would also recommend Phil's DVD where you are "inside" his head while he makes decisions at the final table of a tour
  14. Let me echo what has been said. BEST book I have read in quite some time. Poker or not. It is very well written and I couldn't put it down. I was sad at the end, just like Daniel, but my sadness was because it was the end...and I wanted more. Highly recommended.
  15. Wow. There should be a poll somewhere. What was the first poker book you read. I have to agree with a LOT of the posters. Yes, this was my first poker book. Wonder why that is? Well, for me...I think it was because it was what I found at the library. And I knew who Phil was from TV. If there's one thing Phil can do...it's marketing. LOL!
  16. Could NOT agree more. If Canada were further South, a move would be in hand. I just hope that we can somehow turn this country around, but I don't see it happening. The far right is going to keep taking over and we will lose more and more rights. It's just sad.
  17. I have to agree.....to me, Mike is saying, "Yep Sammy, that's what I think also...good old Phil Ivey is bluffing you...so you had better call." It's pretty obvious, and like you said, he would want those chips in Sammy's hand rather than Ivey's. I think it's exactly the type of thing Matusow would do and I think it sucks.
  18. Well, I'll go out on a limb to disagree with a lot of the posts and say, a lot of people think Moneymaker sucks because he does. I'm sorry, but he didn't play all that well in the 2003 ME. He got LUCKY and sucked out a lot of times when he made a bad call. It's like watching episodes of "Rob and Amber Against all odds." Rob is the same way. He makes it to heads up at the PokerDome because he was an idiot who put his money in with 99 against QQ and then sucked out a 9. Like Moneymaker in 03, Rob is more lucky than good. Moneymaker may be a better player NOW....but when I watch the ME from 200
  19. I've seen Mike Sexton in the crowd a few times at those old WSOP events. And he was probably thinking..."that Vince VanPatten guy is a TOOL...I could announce better than that."
  20. Duh.... The Dude likes his CREEDENCE. And no frickin EAGLES!!!! I've had a bad day and I just really hate the frickin Eagles, Man!!!!!!
  21. If we wanted to sit around and take each other's bankrolls.......
