  1. Seems like a good spot to make an excessive raise at the river, I actually like the way you played the whole hand, maybe just raise a little more at the river if you have read him as an ATM.
  2. Few quick points. What about the reverse implied odds? Flop comes TJQ and he has QQ or AK... and when you flop a set and get it all in and get sucked out on. From memory in Sklansky's No Limit Hold 'Em Theory and Practice this exact hand is basically discussed in depth, you raise with jacks and get re-raised by someone you are sure has aces, even with perfect information in this situation it is mathematically correct to fold when the re-raise is big enough.
  3. It is generally a flush here and you should fold the river, it sucks, but you played the rest of the hand well
  4. His lead on the turn is really weak, I agree with the other poster that said you don't want to over-do it here and lose him. I'd take my time with it and raise it to about $15.
  5. I'd bet the river, your hand is pretty well hidden and if he does have a set he is going to struggle to get away from it. Additionally, the passive guy caught between may have picked up some sort of marginal low or high hand he feels that he could call with.
  6. It is a tournament, you need to get a hold of some chips, you can't play timid because you are worried about someone having quads. Chances are that at the low limit level one of these guys has a pair in the hole that they aren't going to be able to get away from so make them pay.
  7. Surely a true democracy is one in which it is compulsory for everyone to vote and the opinion of every single citizen counts, whether they believe it should or not. I know there will be a chorus of people who will say they should get a choice, but seriously, we are living in an increasingly apathetic political world when many people can't be bothered or don't have time. The sooner the US forces everyone to vote, the sooner the weight of true public opinion comes to the fore.
  8. I don't believe that limit hold 'em makes for a good tournament game, there is good reason why limit hold 'em tournaments are dying. I don't necessarily agree that limit cash games are on the decline. There has been enough of influx of new blood into poker that even if a higher proportion are playing NL there is still overall growth in the game.
  9. Yeah, the buyin is in AUD. E-Dog = thrilled that the USD is in such bad shape, Daniel not so. Hopefully, that can change with Daniel doing well in the ME
  10. Get off our Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, it's equally as annoying as USA, USA, USA. I think Joe Hachem further proves that Australia, a nation of a mere 20 million people, produces the highest rate of sporting success per capita in the world. This victory caps off a great 2006 in which we have outperformed all expectations at the football world cup, taken out the womens basketball world championship, won the ICC champsions trophy and the ashes in cricket, our golfers have won major events and sit firmly in the top 10 and numerous other achievements, too many to mention. We finished 4th at the 2004
  11. I don't like to play the "must accumulate chips" approach, because everyone else is thinking the same thing. Let them gamble, let them eleiminate themselves, be willing to bubble a lot, but also be willing to finish in the money 50% of the time using this style.
  12. Unless you have been raising a lot of flops, bluffing or betting in a similar paired board situations I'd just call. Hopefully, they make their flush or straight and are silly enough to over commit on a paired board.
  13. As you mentioned it was a draw heavy flop, so I'd continuation bet the flop and go from there. When the button bets the flop you are given an opportunity to check-raise which I then would have taken. In all, the turn is a nice safe card, the majority of the time you are ahead in the hand and I don't hae too much of a problem getting all the money in here.
  14. I think calling is your worst option on the flop, with no reads folding is not an option so you much re-pop the flop. However, at $25NL, I wouldn't even trust that if he comes back over the top of you he has you beat, so that somewhat nulls the effectiveness of this play. Sometimes it is harder to play against lesser opponents in that respect. Anyhow, I see keep the aggression/lead in the hand, don't give it up and it can help you avoid some of these situations.
  15. Without any reads to the contrary I can muck this pretty easily pre-flop, the strength of this hand is murky even if you hit the flop and to find out if you are good it is going to cost you. Raising with a pair in the hole, mid-range suited connector or AK I'd make the call and see a flop, simply because I'm more comfortable with my hand if I hit the flop obviously. I probably even muck AQo in that spot, unless this guy has been constantly min-raising, raising me off hands or bluffing.
  16. It is a horrible move, the games are going to become like Bodog, raise in EP and get called in 7 spots.
  17. Is there any FREE Omaha and Omaha/8 stand alone odds calculation software? Looking for the Omaha version of something like Poker Stove... At the moment I'm using web site based calculators and they can be kind of annoying. Thanks in advance...
  18. I don't see why anyone would object if there is no money involved. Certainly a lot better than 7 years old playing video games like GTA.
  19. Or, in my experience of $5 tournaments, a flush draw.
  20. I wouldn't expect the same the luxury of not having my blinds stolen to be afforded to me, so I would happily eat away at my opponents stack while hes gone.
  21. This issue has been annoying me for sometime, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, what annoys me is the people saying that Daniel is over the hill and past it. Who the hell are they? Only a handful of players in the world come close to rivaling the play that Daniel is capable of producing... let alone a bunch of poker tryhards (myself included) posting opinions on this forum. I guess the reality is that when someone is down, people love to sink the boot in.
  22. Themes, styles and skins Instant replay hand history Request tournament summaries by email Badugi, Triple Draw, Pineapple and other such games (provided the new network is expected to have the traffic to support) Marketing effort to try and make the new network the official home of Omaha 8 poker. I am sure there are a lot of people here that would love to see well populated Omaha 8 games. Resizable windows or at least options of a mini/compact view or something
  23. So do we actually know what other sites are on this network?
  24. Serious!? Thats totally lame. It creates games that are way looser (look at Bodog), but I kinda preferred taking down pots unopposed Hopefully we can rally and get this changed.
  25. Firstly, having rules for yourself with regards to how much you deposit and such shows you have little faith in your ability to self control in the first place. Secondly, depositting $30 to a site to play $25NL is far from optimal, you need 10-15 buyins for NL. Thirdly, it seems like you are playing very high variance poker, which isn't a bad thing, but when you have such a small bankroll, its not advisable. Under such conditions I think it is better to play a more conservative game and take more of a slow and steady approach to your poker bankroll.
