digitalmonkey 929
I was just thinking if Montreal signed Hamrlik for 5.4mill/yr, does that mean Souray is getting somewhere around 6-7mill? If so, thats a ridiculous number. Way too much for Souray, I cant imagine SJ giving him that much, but i could be wrong. He would be a good fit there, but 6mill+? That will hurt them too much long term on that team.Career stats:Souray: 506 games in 8 seasons (63gms/year) 66G - 120A - 186P - 0.368 pts/gmHamrlik: 999 games in 14 seasons (71gms/year) 131G - 374A - 505Pts - 0.505 pts/gm Hamrlik's 1st game as a Hab will be his 1000th NHL game. 7s7c 0
I think they are after a centre. If the price is right I think Bertuzzi would be worth a gamble for a power winger.P.S. I guess that confirms that Souray has turned down at least a 4-yr $22 million offer. You don't want Bertuzzi. He got the Eric Lindros disease only in reverse, ie) his career/game didn't change after he got hit but rather after he delivered one. He is now a useless player on the ice if he isn't scoring which is often. I don't know what you would consider the right price but after watching him go from a devastating power forward with an edge to a shell of himself who looks lost and timid I don't know to what degree I would even take a small risk on him. I don't think there's any magic pill he can take to regain that edge.

coesillian 0
I didn't say it wasn't affected..I imlpied that it shouldn't be. Would the french fans be happy with a last place team full of Quebec born players?A team Quebec playing in the NHL would be quite the force recon with.

LOLHamrlik was better when he first came into the league than the last few years. Souray was fairly usless til about 2years ago, and now an offensive dynamo. In the world of what have you done for me lately, Souray is just more able to ask for a bigger contract, so I have to assume that he will get more. But I think neither is worth it. If Habs get Yashin, then they get #1 and #2 of '92 draft!
WestcoastCanuck 0
For what it is worth I thought Hamrlik played really well for the Flames. I think he played at least a small part in Phaneuf's success.

coesillian 0
What do you think of that for 4yrs and 5.4mill a year? 5.4 mill is alot. We do need the help on D, so I guess this mean no for Sourray. Are we going to pay 16-18 mill for Hamrlik, Sourray and Markov, I hope not. Let him go and go find a goal scorer!
coesillian 0
A Quebec all-star team, yes. So would an Ontario all-star team. There are some great Quebecers out there and its too bad there aren't more of them in Montreal. Toronto doesn't care who is on there team, a team of Ontario born players wouldn't mean as much to Toronto as a team of Quebecers would to Montreal. Here we are signing another european who's name is missing a vowel. Lets go get a Homeboy!

coesillian 0
Smoky for 1 year worth 2 mil, no trade agreement. He'll be good to have around as the rookies get some experience.Bonk is gone to nashville.
digitalmonkey 929
Habs have signed Brian Smolinski according to TSN. Bertuzzi is now a Duck.Gainey must be on crack-cocaine.Why must Gainey be on crack cocaine? Is a 1 year contract a big committment in your opinion. He's a replacement for Bonk or Johnson. You can't carry cap space over into next season so you may as well spend it. I have no problem with a 1 year contract.

coesillian 0
Ryder is asking for arbitration, so if he gets a 1 year contract he would then be a UFA next season. Hmmm. Do we want to lose another big player for nothing. I think Gainey is going to try to trade him and he can pakage him with a prospect or goalie to get a big name centreman for Kovalev. coesillian 0
I don' know who this guy is, sounds like a third liner, and I don't like him one bit. Is he just going to take up a spot of one of the rookies. Why sign him now, can't we find players like this anywhere across the league or in our ranks. What are his attributes, sound defensily/experience/leadership? I hope Bob picked him up for a good reason, he said he was done shopping and now picked up a guy so he must have a good reason. Maybe its because the price is right but you get what you pay for.
coesillian 0
at least he'll stand up for our players, seeing as Souray is soon gone nobody lefthas any balls to stand up for saku. Kostopoulos plays a "grinding" style of ice hockey, plays well in the corners and is not afraid to play rough and also gets into the occasional fight. Many Kings fans like Tom Kostopoulos because of his playing style. He never ceases to give up on a play and will not be afraid to pick a fight. Kostopoulos is known as the team joker in the dressing room. He once sewed someone's keys inside their pocket. [1] The joker stories from the team are not limited to this; in fact there are numerous other stories that have surfaced around the team.assets: Likes to play a North-South game and is strong along the wall. Defensively responsible, he's also a potential captain down the line.Flaws: Has limited scoring ability at the NHL level, and doesn't do enough in other areas to keep a regular job in "the show".2004 aticle about his first years with the pensI guess this is the Murray/Downey replacement for the fourth line, those guys aren't comming back right. They should give Ferland a fair shot instead. Man oh man, I sure hope that Digital is right about a possible trade in the works.
doox 15
Before I saw that article from 2004, I had completely forgotten that guy was ever a Penguin.
Belanger25 3
Kostopoulos is a great addition to the Montreal Canadiens. Now he wont score pretty but he will give it all on every single shift and not only that he can fit in on every line. If you need a quick replacement on a top line he can easily be thrown in as the lines checker. As he is very smart with the puck and can often make a great pass. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-g1kR7R5KWoHe can drop the gloves as shown above. He wont take on anyone who is considered a heavyweight but he is not afraid to get into a fight and stand up for his teammates. Tommy K PictureBest of Luck to you in Montreal TK! Belanger25 3
He was an assistant captain?I did like his time in Pittsburgh. For a couple of games he was one. After the Norstrom trade and with a few people going down he was like 7th in line. Then again the Kings had 6 different A's at the end of the season.
