NEtwowilldo 0
In his latest blog, DN was talking about American Idol. He said "Is it wrong to say that the four black girls blew the other girls out of the water?" To answer your questio, Daniel, No. I was watching the show Wednesday night at my friends house, as the recap was going on, we were like, she was good, she sucked, sucked, good, etc. Then we we were like so basically to sum it up, all of the black girls were good, and all the white girls sucked. So in case anyone gets on your case about another racist remark, I'll just agree with you first. Zeatrix 0
Allthough I agree that is is very unnecessary to group people after the color of their skin I guess it just sometimes is easier to do that.I haven't watched the show but I imagined it is much easier to say "the black girls" than "girl A, girl B, girl C and girl D". I have the opinion that there is no such thing as different races, only different genes, what the word race is used for nowadays is just to groups people with similar genes that affect appearance together. Calling a group of people black people "black people" should not be any different than calling a group of really tall people "tall people", but it is.

What's the difference? People need to get over it and quit making a big deal over nothing. Daniel could have said Black, non-caucasian, African-American and people would $hit all over him either way.The way people deal with these thing is why racism will never go away. People tip toe around race like it's a disease, which makes it an awkward situation.

People tip toe around race like it's a disease, which makes it an awkward situation. That's my point. The unecessary part was the prerequisite of 'I hope it's not wrong' or 'Is it wrong to say this' just brings up the issue of race again, granted this has been a topic of discussion, but I don't think this discussion would have started in the first place if he merely stated "The 4 black girls are the best of the bunch" (alliteration)This is taking to the other extreme, where it has gone from not even realizing that race would be an issue to now 'walking on eggshells', the optimal point would be to somehwere in the middle, not DN personally, but as a society, where race isn't something we think or worry about when we say something but the simple fact that 'the 4 black girls' is the most succinct way to articulate who one thinks the best singers in the tv show are. It's not about racism, it's about race being an issue at all. Naismith 0
I gave up on Lost early on when I lost my faith in the writers' ability to pay off any of the questions with intriguing answers. When the show ends, it might be one of those shows I watch entirely on DVD or my iPod if enough people convince me that the climax was worth it.
ohen 0
One could even argue that there should have been more than 7 black contestants in the final 24 and the judges as well as the producers have deliberately kept the number of black contestants to about 25-30% of the field for ratings purposes.Just go to any black church and you'll find at least one, if not more singers who can blow a lot of the white kids in that Final 24 out of the competition. Of course some people now will say whay I just wrote is racist. LOL!
Rodney21a 1
I think Orson Welles was 25 when he directed Citizen Kane. Unbelievable.Orsen Wells was forever hounded by his success. The film's main character, Kane, is a composite of several historical individuals: newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, the reclusive aerospace and movie mogul Howard Hughes and the Chicago utilities magnate Samuel Insull. Some say that Mr Hearst and the others used their influence to cause the ensuing career problems. His movies were re-cut by studios with the footage forever lost. Check out some of Wells' other films like A Touch Of Evil, Othello, and The Trial.
Jordan 1
being pc is fun...did you know that saying "that disabled person" is not PC? you should say, person with a disability. Seriously.idk, i guess they (whoever they are) think that you are defining the person by their disability...or in the case of "black person" or "white person" you are defining them by the color of their skin..i think it's a joke...you are just saying what is kind of easier to say?. anyway...i read that "disabled" example from a book in school and I thought it was interesting...primarily cause i never thought that a disabled person would take it that way (offensively)...i mean, hell i'm disabled in my own right...i am legally blind.i dont know...i think in cases of people with disabilities, they'd rather you just not worry about how to say it, but rather everyone just treat them like a human being... cause despite their disability they are still a functioning human being and are just as of worth and value as the next person.and i the same applies with race. i'm a white guy...you might be a black guy, or asian, or whatever. i dont think much of it... (to me at least) just treat me as you'd treat yourself and vice versa...- Jordan

nutzbuster 7
Citizen Kane is a fantastic film, when you consider how great the story was and how cutting edge and amazing "look" of the film is. I mean this was made back in the 40's! It was SO far ahead of it's time. A few interesting (...or not, lol) factoids about American Idol. My sister knows the little 17 year old Jordan Sparks! Apparently her parent is a colleague in the Real Estate office where she works. Pretty cool. Obv they (we) are hoping she goes deep in the competition. Everyone is very excited, the girl has some pipes! I have little doubt that a woman will win this year, they seem much stronger than the guys so far.Another thing related to idol......Sylvia and I were vacationing in Maui 2 years ago and ran into Simon and his girlfriend (same one as now btw) poolside at the Four Seasons. He is a very nice guy and LOVES to talk and take control of the conversation. He went on and on about the industry and what not to us and another couple hanging out there. Really cool guy. He hung out there all day, for 3 days straight, talking to us and whomever (not really getting hassled at all actually). I really liked him and ya gotta respect his honesty, even if a bit rude at times.(btw, we'll be going back to Maui for a week (Aug 31st thru Sept 7th) staying at the Fairmont this time, if any FCP'rs might be out there the same time. Golfing at Wialea and snorkeling is the plan, perhaps meet up for a drink?).Peace!
