doox 15
Rick DiPietro's insanely long contract. It actually bumped Yashin's off my personal top spot, but at least the Isles are consistant.

If he develops as well as everyone expects then he will be underpaid in the latter part of his career. If he gets injured...well, that's what insurance is for. Plus, the cap room would be available if he's on IR.

fryer98 30
I'll add Brad Richards ($7 000 000)This was my frist thought.Gonchar'ss was the worst for the 1st half of last year, but it's looking like a solid sign now.

I'm just saying this based on what I saw from him in the playoffs last year.I think he cashed in bigtime with his play last season. IMO $4,000,000 is an overpayment for McKee especially when you facter in he's also signed for 3 more seasons at $4,000,000 per.
Fubar The Sperm 1
Being from Ottawa I'd have to say Gerbers 3.5 million is pretty bad. Didn't seem like a bad idea at the time but I bet Ottawa wish's they had that money back to maybe keep Havlat or sign some one else.

ajs510 122
The only thing worse than Columbus paying Sergei Fedorov $6 million and Adam Foote $4.6 million this season is the fact that they have to do it again next season. Fedorov - 15G, 20A, -7Foote - 3G, 8A, -17Just sad...

Speed Limit 0
Clemmenson, Brodeur's backup. They should just give some homeless man some bread and some goalie pads, he'll never see action anyway.sw

ajs510 122
What's Zherdev making? It's too much. His cap hit is $2.5 million, which will be a bargain if he hits the stride he's projected for. Definitely pricey for a guy who's scored 23 points all year though.
WestcoastCanuck 0
I think Mckee is a bit overpaid, but it doesn't fall into the same category as the other contracts, IMO. St. Louis was in a position where they had to overpay a little bit to attract good free agents. For what Aucoin has done so far, his contract is awful. It didn't look that bad at the time he signed it, but he really hasn't done much.I haven't seen anyone mention Samsonov yet. I know he only has one year left, but he stinks.I think Bulis is overpaid at 1.1 million...

ajs510 122
Ryan Kesler 1.9M 48GP 6G 10A +1I Hate Bobby Clarke. No one forced them to match the offer, just think, right now he could be yet another Flyers player who isn't living up to his potential.
WestcoastCanuck 0
Kesler got off to an awful offensive start, but he was really starting to turn it around before his injury. There was no way, IMO, the Canucks could not match the offer sheet. He is getting paid a bit to much, but I wouldn't lump him in there with the other guys mentioned. He also clearly has the potential to get better (while being paid around 1.9 mill for the next little while), something that can't be said for guys like Theodore or Aucoin. MapleLeafpoker 1,462
What do you think is the worst contract in the NHL right now?Ed Jovanovski ($7,000,000)Jose Theodore ($5,5000,000)first, I dont get the Jovo contract. Is that right, or is that a front loaded thing? They gave him 7mil a year?I think Jose is one of the worst, just because of the complete waste he has become.as far as overpaying a UFA, McKee, Mogilny come to mind.

It actually bumped Yashin's off my personal top spot, but at least the Isles are consistant. My opinion is that this was a great deal. I will bet that this will be a steal for the Islanders, but the one problem i foresee is DiPietro wanting to renegotiate once he becomes grossly underpaid in the future.he is already one of the better goalies in the NHL, and still very young. Vertigo 0
Bryan McCabe - $7.15 mThat sickens me.Edit: I realize it's staggered, but still gross.
doox 15
Well, maybe it might provide him with long-term security and the Isles with a long-term, lower-salary goalie. Then again, a lot can happen in 15 years, and it's just ridiculous to put that many years into the agreement. Since the topic is worst contracts, I'm not necessarily approaching this one from a team-only perspective. I think it's bad from the Isles P.O.V. but even worse from DiPietro's.
