Brag post time. Lots of people saw pictures of Malkin practicing and Fleury in his new pads but I just saw them in person during a closed practice.     I was down at the arena to get my security

Yes I agree that Crosby kids gotta go. Can I interest you in a phaneuf?

JapersRink ‏@JapersRink · 20m Really looking forward to Dan Bylsma being either an idiot who can't win with Sid or a genius who can win without a bottom-6 after tonight.

I guess CPZ didn't get traded on the NHL level, just in the ECHL. Keep his attitude away from our guys, I guess.Anyways, this is interesting:MikeColligan Mike Colligan#Pens only have Tim Wallace, Keven Veilleux, Joey Haddad, C-P Zabotel under contract as forward callups if players are suspended/injured

I think the only thing that saved Talbot from serious damage was that when Martin shook his mitts off, one went flying in front of Talbot and Talbot realized what was happening... I think you'll see Martin get 15 games. Should be double that. I think Gillies will get 6. Should be triple that, especially him taunting an obviously injured Tangradi...
That was just idiotic. How is he allowed to stand there? Doesn't the NHL have off ice security to escort him. What a goon he is. While the hit on tangradi was bad , I have seen worse. What they should throw the book at him for is like was mentioned hitting a guy that is hurt and defenseless. I still think the refs should of done a better job. Even calling the game after 2 periods. Or issuing severe warnings with respect to more goonery or fighting. Obviously things got way out of hand.

The refs threw guys out of the game. There comes a point when teams need to just stop. I would not be surprised if Scott Gordon also gets a fine or suspension.

This could be a major statement by the NHL. I'm willing to bet they dont do that, and none of the suspensiosn are eye-opening. And, the NHL needs to take some blame too. Everyone saw this coming after the last Pens/Isles game. The league in the past has sent an exec like Colin Campbell to these possible grudge matches and had them meet with the coaches and GM's before the game to tell them they are personally responsible for keeping things under control. Usually when they do this, the game is calm..

Get with the times. Jack Capuano (or something like that).

Anyone else conflicted between being "entertained" by this train wreck vs feeling some shame as a hockey fan?I take a lot of pride in my love for hockey. Hockey players are some of the best people in the world of professional atheletics, but damned if I dont feel a sense of wondering what the hell is wrong with hockey. We, and I use we on purpose, look like a joke when things like that happen. Its WWE crap, and when others not in the hockey world see this, Im curious to know that they think.Watching that Gillies scene of him mocking Tangradi makes me sick.

I wish they would make a statement. But they've always let me down, so why should this be any different.

I caught the two guys on Pardon the Interruption talking about the Montreal/Boston game and saying how it was a disgrace and that the NHL should be embarrassed. My first thought was "STFU you self righteous cunts...if this was basketball you'd be talking about how rare it is and how it's not representative of how the game usually is." They probably haven't watched a hockey game all year.I've given up caring what non-hockey fans care about our game. Unless I get a job in NHL PR then I doubt that will ever change.

You make a good point about the PTI guys, and I dont really care what the media says. And dont get me wrong, this isnt about getting Americans, or other non-hockey fans to watch the game. Its not about selling the game, but more about those of us who love the game.I might be making too much of it, but, the way hockey players act and the way the game is played says something about me when I pronounce myself a big fan, IMO. My closest friends dont really watch hockey, and to outsiders, sometimes its this crap that leaves a lasting impression, instead of the countless great playoff games. Also, no matter how much I know this is a rarity, fact is, this is a game I want my son to watch, follow and love. At some point, we're all gonna have to explain this crap to our kids.Lately weve heard great stories about Chris, Serge taking their kids to games. What if this was that game?I still recall the crazy stuff of the 80's that I watched as a kid, and I know the 70's were just as nuts, so maybe Im making too much of all this. Just ranting.

I still think any kid would enjoy this game. It would serve as a great opportunity to educate a kid on the emotions involved in a hockey game and how NOT to act.

I have no problem with a game or two like this one now and then, it's entertaining. I wouldn't like to see the entire sport degrade down to just being a thugs league, but one game like this here and there I think is great.

I'm a bit emotionally invested, so I couldn't find last night's game entertaining in the slightest. I actually was torn - I wanted Bylsma to make a statement and not bring the team out for the 3rd, but I knew the anti-Pens people would have a field day with that type of decision, and the players would never want something like that to happen. It ceased being a hockey game at that point, though, and I knew that if the game went on, more Pens players would be missing time due to injury. It sickened me, and I just sat there in disbelief as I watched Gilles taunt a helpless Tangradi. I couldn't believe there was that much of a lack of class coming from one organization. Capuano can say whatever he wants, but nothing will convince me that he didn't have a large role in what went on last night. His players were obviously on a mission to injure people last night, and it wasn't just one or 2 of the usual suspects. I think he egged his players on to "send a message" but wasn't responsible enough to define the message cleanly.I'm just numb - so much has happened to this team as far as injuries, and now they get into a bus accident of all things. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but still - a bus accident on top of last night's debacle? Where does it end?*edit* and I'm ashamed to add that if I was an Isles fan at that arena, I probably would've been standing up and screaming my head off in excitement...until I got home and absorbed the fallout of what my team actually did.

So how do all the bleeding heart Pens fans feel about having a total piece of shit Cooke on their team who has no respect for other players and intentionally tries to injure other players or at the very least does very dangerous things that are likely to lead to injury ?

It's actually a serious question. What the Islanders did is indefensible and a farce but is it really any worse in the big picture than putting Cooke on the ice.

Obviously Cooke is the flavor of the moment with his recent actions but if you watch as many pens games as I do you'd know that he's typically more of a pest than a thug. He does stupid things on occasion but usually doesn't cross the line. Having said that he deserved the 4 gamer he's on now and I'm hoping he uses that time to get his head straight on what his role on this team should be. The pens are going to need as many healthy bodies and they can get the rest of the way and really need to avoid these types of games. Bylsma wants his team to be tough to play against but even he didn't envision this.

I hate Cooke. Ive posted countless times how little respect I have for the guy, and I wouldnt miss him one bit if I found out he was banned forever. That said, I dont see how the Isles action is "no worse" than Cooke. Cooke's always an ass, but what the Isles did was without a doubt a team effort to injure, and stacking as many goons as possible on 1 roster. One loose cannon does not equal a team organized goonery.

sorry, but for many of us, this is not our first time upset with Cooke. This is just another one of his stupid runs, and he did this crap before he got to Pitts too.

Yes it was serious. I don't know what that means. But play this... http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames...-the-only-levelIt was my attempt to stop the flaming before it started. Cooke didn't play in yesterdays game so how is he even relevant to the discussion beyond the DP Brent Johnson incident? Even that's a weak argument because DP has admitted that whole thing was his fault.
