Shizant 0
Do any of these casinos that you guys play at have valet parking? I always park in the valet so that I don't have to walk to my car. Most of the time they will have a security guard at the front door, also I always tip the valet guys to keep my car close. I also do have a player box at the casinos I play often at.You guys are worried about a decent win??? The worst is if you walk out of the casino after a tournament win or hitting a bad beat jackpot.Edit: Started the reply before I saw these other posts...
WowThats 0
Some years ago two of us were leaving a casino, in the parking lot, we were approached by a man with a 6 to 8 inch knife. He wanted our money and watches, I had $40 cash, I told the guy there was no way I was giving him my Rolex, he could have the $40 but not the watch. My friend was acting scared, he told me not to argue with the guy and to give him my watch. I told both of them no F-ing way all the guy has is knife "the bad guy now has this puzzled look on his face and his getting mad", I tell the bad guy he is welcome to try to take my Rolex. As the bad guy and I square off, I start rotating my arms , my friend yells he has $500 cash he can have that if he lets me keep my watch, The bad guy backs off "I could see in his eyes he was scared".My Friend tells the bad guy he is going to reach into his back pocket for the money, "I tell friend not to give him anything this guy is a *****". My friend tells me to "shut up". All of sudden my friend is pointing a 45 at the bad guy, now the bad guy's eyes are as big as silver dollars, he drops the knife, my friend orders him to lay face down on the ground which he does. I grab the knife and proceed to deliver 10 to 15 kicks to the face and torso of the bad guy. My friend says to the bad guy "now give me your wallet and cash" he gives us $60 cash and his wallet. Now I'm pissed I deliver a few more kicks to the face of the bad guy and take his sneakers. We start laughing as we walk to our vehicle. Not that it is any big deal, if your wondering "I use to teach hand to hand combat to the military and police departments". In the car I have to listen to my friend berate me the entire ride home... we still laugh about this episode.

benhoug 0
Doesn't it draw more attention to you to get escorted out by security? I mean, anyone smart would just figure you have a ton of money on you and follow you home, then you're really screwed...I thought about this, but I wasn't worried about "someone" following me, I was worried about 1 dude who seemed to have a grudge against me 'cause I stacked him. I live about an hour from the casino, and I took a goofy route home to make sure someoe wasn't following me. I'm beginning to think I was a little paranoid, but I guess better safe than sorry.I think from now on Valet is the way to go. This avoids all problems.

tallytownFSU 0
When I won my tourney on the boat earlier this year, When I cashed out the money on the first night, I had security walk me to my car. Nothing happened. The only time anythings ever come close to happening, is I was at Bank of America in Tallahassee, and withdrew 10k, and some bum in the bank saw me do it. So Im walking outside, and this bum goes "hey man can you help a guy out?" I used my standard line of "Hey man, I only got plastic on me." Next thing i know he grabs my arm and whispers in my hear "I know you got some coin man, don't **** with me..."So now im scared.Luckily, im about 10 feet from my drivers side door. I shove/tackle the guy onto the concrete and run and jump in my car. As he was running to my car, I threw it into gear and off I went.Yeah, im an idiot i know.
nutzbuster 7
Doesn't it draw more attention to you to get escorted out by security? I mean, anyone smart would just figure you have a ton of money on you and follow you home, then you're really screwed... I'd say best bet is to park valet every time and just get your car and get the hell out. When I cashed the wsop event I was nervous as hell, Steve was there and he told me to throw the cash in my bag and just keep it on me the whole time. Later that night at the RIO my friend came by and got like 20k from his safety deposit box and just stuffed it in his pockets...we were paranoid as hell, it would have reeeally suck to get robbed, but I figured getting security to follow us around would be dumb, didn't want to attract some negative attention....Funny sidenote, when we got back to the hotel my friend put his cash in the room's safe, next morning he's rushing to get to the airport, checks out of the hotel, gets in the cab and realizes he left the money in the safe. That would've sucked more than getting robbed .If I have a good amount on me I go to the car in a very round about way, pausing often and fake lookng confused and take a good look around, then make my way out often taking a long route. Once outside I am on high alert, often pausing to look around as I walk. Prolly look like a ****** but who cares. If I see ANYONE I avoid them by walking out of my way, across the other side of the parking lot lane or whatever. I am very careful.Once I'm in my car....good luck following. I drive like a freaking maniac.
FourFlusher 0
You can always call a cab, even if you're parked...have him take you to a coffee shop or somewhere. Come back in another cab in a few minutes.

Havent heard too many issues with this at the casinos i play at in the falls.

burgerman 0
Sounds like you made a good move. In the future you might consider either making a deposit with the casino and wiring the money into your account or getting a check from the casino for most of your winnings. Cash is non-refundable and easy for unhappy people to try to get from you.I have only requested a security guard once to get from the dice table to the cage. Lots of $5,000 chips. After that, no problems since I deposited the cash and wired it to my account while at the cage. Took about 20 minutes total.Best --Burgerman

You're probably talking about Resorts Casino. A lot of riff raff there. Way way more riff raff at the old Trump casino down the street. You definitely made the right move. StrippersNBlow 0
Really, the cost of living is higher in St. Louis??? Surprising. No, lol. It was 3am and I was dead tired after a 14 hour session. It was supposed to be a thinly veiled insult that 10 bucks here was worth more than 10 in Chicago. The cost of living here is ridiculously low, and probably the only reason I don't pick up and move tomorrow. I used to valet park at our downtown casino here just because the parking lots don't even have a single security guard, and aren't owned by the casino. Then on back to back nights, after 6 months of no issues, I had my bag of Combos(they're a better alternative than JackintheBox at 4am) stolen. Then the next visit someone went through my center console and stole a full sized bottle of cologne. It wasn't the value of either item that bothered me, but the fact that they were going through my things. Basically I didn't want them to search better and find something next time that I couldn't report.
JeremyG 0
A poker friend of mine cashed in the main event last year for $28k. He decided to take it in cash and then he realized he had like $12k in his pockets already, so he's walking down the Strip with $40k in cash.We all have to realize while $40k is a lot of money, you'd be very surprised how many people are carrying that much money around. When I had my great night at Caesar's last year, I walked out with $2200 and my wife had around $600, we almost got security but our car was like the 3rd one away from the door and the whole garage was so busy we figured nobody would try anything with so many people around. FourFlusher 0
I read a story a pro wrote, can't remember his name now. He took down a tourney in downtown Vegas late one night, his box was across the street at Binions or one of those. He had like $45 grand in his pocket and left to go to his box. The first thing he sees is two thugs drinking beer and eyeballing him. Of course, they jam him. He just screamed, "Leave me the fu.ck alone, I just lost $25 in there!!!"They thought if the guy was crazy enough to get loud with two thugs over twenty-five bucks they better leave him alone. He made it.You know, if you turn over a table you get security to your car and it doesn't cost anything. TightLikeA... 0
No, never really worried about getting to the car and never had any problems. I would be more concerned about people following you home and that the security escort might make people think you have won 10k+ or more. Some of the regulars at the 20/40 games I play in are known in the community (dentist, lawyer, business person, whatever) and it does not seem to bother them walking out up a few grand after having won it from some of the local grubby 20 year olds who might know their names and for whom that might be a lot of money.I never buy in for more than 20BB but its not unusual for some people to drop 3k in blacks & purples on the table in addition to the reds they buy in to play with. That seems unnecessarily risky to me, even if it's a low risk.

What does everyone else buy in for in LHE games???I always buy-in for 25BB....I've bought in short for 20 a couple times, but that was back when I was playing low stakes and I hadn't brought enough for 4/8, but there was no 3/6 game going so I had to buy into 4/8 for 160. As far as security, I've thought about it a few times. The most I've ever left with is like $1k and I'm definitely a bit scared and paranoid walking out. If I ever had more than that, I'll probably get security.
No_Neck 0
I use to play poker at a bingo hall on an indian reservation in upstate new york. It was kind of sketchy they use to have armed guards on the roof and they would escort anyone to thier car with assault weapons. Sigh I miss the old days.
