sixhands 0
Instinctively, I would agree, except that I have this problem whether I lose $500 at $3/6 PLO or whether I lose $20 at 0.10/0.25 NLHE. I think it's the concept of being down at all moreso than the actual amount. It's some sick, twisted mental block. When I buy in or $100, it physically pains me to leave with $99. So naturally, the further I'm down, the more distressing it is to me because I don't want to leave until I've at least climbed back to square one.If I lose a few hundred, I'm not worried about missing meals and not having a roof, I'm worried about not being able to sleep because I failed so miserably. Obviously, it's not healthy, but I think it's a kind of single-session-o-centric tunnel vision. It only applies to cash games, too. I could drop the same amount in a series of MTTs and not bat and eyelash. But if I get crushed in a cash game, I reach for the hemlock.Help me. Tell me to never play poker again and I'll listen.I swear.Never play poker againI bet you had your fingers crossed when you typed that huh?
JMoney2681 0
not necessarilyI play within my roll but I am still pissed about losing, especially through a string of bad beats.mental attitude and tolerance has some part in this also.True, but he was just saying how it would suck thinking about wining back a buy in. If I lost $500 I'd be pissed too, but I don't play 500NL, so thats why, lol. If you play withing your roll it is less of a burden to lose a few buy ins in a session. Definitely is no fun, but it wont take it's toll on you as easily.Instinctively, I would agree, except that I have this problem whether I lose $500 at $3/6 PLO or whether I lose $20 at 0.10/0.25 NLHE. Tell me to never play poker again and I'll listen.I swear.Well if you are a bad player I would say never play poker again, but if you're any good, and want to be changing your habbits, you can. I used to be the same way. I'd go to the casino with $300 and sit 6-12 like a moron. Now I know better. Once you find that level where you are playin within your roll and you are comfortable losing buy ins you no longer will feel the way you do, I hope. I know you said even at lower levels you feel that way, but if you had a roll for that game too, maybe something is wrong then...

arpinology 0
everyone at some point or another has said sometihng insulting to another poker player on an online site. i have, i never curse, or call people names, but i do insult plays that were made. i just figure, if the boats/casinos wouldnt stand for it, then dont say anything.i used to play world championship poker on my ps2(the first one) and people with microphones would get fired up. lets just say, racial slurs are a plenty. my character looks asian, although i am not and my player has been referred to in my derogatory names for asians. JMoney2681 0
unless youre a loser. what a ridiculous thing to claim.Do you even play poker or just come on here to "look" cool? One of the key ingredients to being a constant winner is bankroll management, if you don't know this, then you're in trouble. If you play within your roll then losing a buy in or 2 should have little to no effect on you. Granted if you have some types of emotional problems and cannot cope with losses you are in for a little bit more trouble, but, I doubt that anyone playing within their roll will lose a buy in, and then from that moment on be "thinking about it all night and how he/she can get it back."So, what were you trying to say? Did you even read the whole thread? Probably not...

I could drop the same amount in a series of MTTs and not bat and eyelash. But if I get crushed in a cash game, I reach for the hemlock.Help me. Tell me to never play poker again and I'll listen.I swear. The most helpful poker book I ever read was Phil Helmuth in Play Poker like the Pro's. (yeah, I know it is first grade drivel, but it worked for me) Anyway, he said whenever he gets a bad beat he say's "Nice Hand" but what he means (and I'm paraphrasing here) is "You stupid f**k**G LUCKY *******, I am going to rip off your arm and beat you with the bloody stump". Now, ignoring the irony of the bad boy of poker giving advice on good manners, just being able to say FU mentally while I type NH, allows me to cool off enough to start looking for the opportunity to pick off his bad calls or set up the all in call when I flop another monster and win back all that I have leant him. You have to take the attitude that DN does in Re-buy tourneys, I'm just building up his stack so I can take down an even bigger pot later.

Inferno 0
not necessarilyI play within my roll but I am still pissed about losing, especially through a string of bad beats.mental attitude and tolerance has some part in this also.I agree completely. When I am running bad/not playing well, I will just play 0.02/0.04 tables for a couple days just to loosen up and relax. Even at those stakes, a few bad beats and $5 lost can be upseting. The mental beating you give yourself can be brutal sometimes.
