Remember When I Said Poker Jumped The Shark?

what is wrong with todays society?? Why do Gays always think someone is out to get them???
Have you not read half the posts in this thread? All the homophobic gay bashing you see here is pretty common in online poker. How many times have you drawn out on someone to have the say "suck a dik" in the chat? It sounds like a decent enough idea to me if there are enough GLBT poker players to populate it. The idea of making it more "social" with profiles and such is also not a bad one.Oh, wait sorry ... This is go ghey. Queer people make me question my own sexuality and so I don't like to be exposed to them. What a horrid idea.

They're not comfortable at straight tables so they make gay tables for us to not be comfortable at. Wouldn't it make more sense for all to just get along? Complain about labels and being treated differently, then go and seperate yourself more by creating a place "just for you". Way to keep the cycle going.

What gay bashing? It's gay bashing to use the slang "gay" to dissapprove of something? Whatever. Grow some skin. Saying suk a dik is bashing? Isn't that what gay men do? This isn't the way I want to start my posting here, but some people and their "sensitivity" really get me.

I don't think a poker site for GLBT has anything whatever to do with politics, or trampling on your God given right to make fun of buggery. It's simple marketing. The creators of the site have just figured out that there is a market with large disposable incomes that hasn't been targeted by partystarsbodogfulltiltpokerroom. It's really pretty pointless to think about it as an "issue" or reflective of the demanding attitudes that gay people might have toward the rest of the world. It's a business decision, and probably a pretty smart one.

Is it okay to call somethign you think is stupid "niger"? Is it okay to say if got cheated, taht you got jewed? I completely understand why GBLT would want to make a gay-friendly place, where they don't have to put up with slurs against their identity every time someone sucks out on someone else. Of course non GBLT could play on this site, this is just about making a envirnmoent that is friendly to whom they are, as opposed to say, every other poker room, or this forum, apparently.

well, yeah, and then there's this point, which is pretty much true. But there's a market for it due to the rampant homophobia exhibited on any poker site with chat.

Does it say that only LGBT people can only play there? How many poker sites out there are stupid. Do you really think that PamelaPoker and NakedPoker are any different than this? Why don't you go start KKKpoker? Maybe you should only play at Imadumbasspoker.com.I think it is a good idea and will draw more people into the poker world because of thier lifestyle. I really don't care who the person is who sits next to me. All I want is their money.

You are absolutely right BigD. Unfortunately, trying to win this arguement with the immature and/or prejudiced people here is probably a lost cause.

I hate this reverse discriminatory ****.I have nothing against gays, or asians, blacks, hispanics, or mexicans for that matter. As much as I want to say, "if they can have a gay power poker room, why can't we have a white power poker room (not that I would want one you stupid crackas) or a straights only poker room?"However, everytime someone gets a bad beat, they start berating there opponents with homoslurs, so maybe they want a place where they can avoid that.

You know you're gay and would suck a dong for $100k.
Would anyone know about this? If I'd consider it for more than a second, does that make me gay?---I've always seen poker as one place where race/age/sex does not matter - honestly I'll sit down with anyone, I'm pretty sure most people on this forum only see the size of the stack in front of the person... As for anyone being turned-off by what's typed in a chatbox on the internet - time to grow some thicker skin.

I love how people who aren't affected by the slurs always say "grow some thicker skin". Maybe youre skin wouldn't be so thick, if you'd been systematically made fun of, abused, and heard degatory comments made about your sexual orentation since you were a child. Being gay in our society isn't an easy thing in our society, comign to terms with it, coming out of the closet, having to confront family and friends about it who react in a scattering a ways from loving and supportive to disowning. People have and continue to get their asses kicked, threated, abused, and harassed just because of whom they chose to fuk. I can unstand why they make their own clubs, communities, and what not, so they don't have to be in an envirnament of constant intolerance, judgement and abuse. It's easy to say " grow a thicker skin" when this issue has had zero impact on your own life.

So we're now equating someone typing "Nice call fag" with actual fag-bashing? Maybe 'grow some thicker skin' is the wrong thing to say - may I offer up 'Get some perspective'...

Is "nice call you jew" okay? Because it's the same thing, the same slur, the same sort of thing. It's not just any one time someone hears it, it's the systematic way "homosexual" has become a psedonym for somethign lame or bad.

It is not even comparable to Pamelapoker or NakedPoker. One is for a lifestyle, and the others are for interests. Unless you consider being LGTBQ something that people do for fun, you're way off here.If this was a live casino, it may draw more people in. I doubt that many people, straight or LGTBQ (sorry if i'm getting that wrong) are stupid enough to think that playing on an online forum with others like them is any different than otherwise.Seriously, what is the difference?
Ding ding ding..
Nice. Use a specious argument, then pretend it is self-evident and everyone else is too dumb. This room is completely unnecessary, reverse-discriminatory and counter-productive. Is the goal of people with alternate lifestyles to have the same rights as everyone else, or to be completely separated with their own kind? Oh yeah, the former.

So your solution to this is to segregate them again? The myriad of problems LGTBQ people continue to have in our society is a result of many incorrect perceptions. The goal should be to integrate people with all different lifestyles in all arenas, not segregate them whenever ignorance makes them uncomfortable. The intolerance, judgement and abuse will not stop if they separate themselves from it whenever its convenient. Moreover, if people actually are insulted by things like "that was so gay" typed into an INTERNET CHATBOX or MESSAGE, they do need to grow a thicker skin. People say things like "I got Jewed" all the time, and I am not insulted. If it's in real-life, I'll just explain to them that that is a racial slur, and they are usually very embarassed and stop saying it.Now stop being such a fag.

First of all, this isn't a segraation issue. No one made homosexuals drink at a different drinking fountain. Homosexuals come together in commmunities all the time, all over the country, because they want someplace safe and non judgemental about their lifestyle ( and also to get laid) They mirgrate out of places all over the country taht are terribly intollerant, to major cites usually on the coasts, where they can have a safe community. Intgration with a society that is actively hostile towards them really isn't their goal, and I don't ahve any problem with that at all.

Which is exactly my point - saying 'fag' as a derogitory remark has (unfortunately) become more than just a moniker to place on gays. If a homosexual playing online poker is so traumatized by seeing it in a chatbox (after dealing with what you yourself describe as a lifetime of bigotry and hatred) then yes, they had better grow some thicker skin or get a helmet.Edit: In addition, unless the person's got the screen-name "PROUD_2_B_GAY", why should he even take what is said in the chatbox personally???
