Tiltinagain 973
So now that we're half way through the preseason what is everyone thinking now?My takes....Alex Smith looks like a completely different QB. Even the East Coast biased media types are expecting him to have a big year this year.Patrick Willis is a beast....looks like a veteran out there and will have 125+ tackles this year now that he's starting.Darryl Jackson can def. still play. Even Ashley Lelie looked good. It's hard to believe that the niners will actually have some depth at WR this year.I'm really excited to see what our DB's do but I think they could turn around from 26th in pass def. last year to top 10 or 15 this year.I am sticking by my 10-6 prediction for now. I don't think the Seahawks are going to be as good as some think. The Cardinals are never as good as some think and the Rams well....they're the Rams.NFC West champs is a distinct possibility.Crazy part....They're going to be straight scary good next year.GO NINERS!! WKTSWAY 0
Ashley Lelie, will have his best season in his 1st yr with the 49ers!I do not like him at all....I'm hoping Jason Hill takes over as the #2 WR by the end of the year...he's the best WR on the team now, but probably won't play a whole lot. CJHunt 0
And the Mariners suck BTW FWIW 2 Game lead in the Wild CardOnly 1 Game behind the Angel's with a HUGE 3 game set coming up next week.WHAT?!?!?! Yes, I'm responding to a post made well over two months ago.
fjl2nd 0
Am I the only person who have the Rams as a potential sleeper team. I really like what they did in the offseason and definitely think they can challenge for the division. The NFC West is WIDE open. I will enjoy watching that division.I like the Rams to win the division in a shocker. Seahawks potentially for the wild card.

I could also see the Seahawks missing out on the playoffs. I think the Rams may barely miss the playoffs or barely make it in (by not winning the division)...I don't think a wild card will come from this division, but you never know. I think it will be close between the 9ers, Rams and Seashawks for the division with the Rams or 9ers taking it.
GeneralGeeWhiz 0
BUMP for a new season of niners football! We're down 10-7 right now to the Cards after that stupid penalty of running into the kicker...

Yes, I'm responding to a post made well over two months ago.Bahhaaahhaahhaahhaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! How ya feeling now?? I don't know about anyone else but, even though our offense was putrid for all but 3 minutes of the game, I was stoked the whole game by how our defense was shutting down the AZ receivers. I must admit to still having that "Is this the play where they throw a 60 yard bomb and the DB's totally blow the coverage resulting in a TD" feeling for most of the game but if our defense continues to play like they did I like our chances. Why is Lelie not getting on the field when he had a decent preseason?? Better than Taylor Jacobs but he still can't get on the field. Though Nolan keeps sounding like that may change saying Jacobs is the #3 "for now".I'm really liking our chances agains St Louis tomorrow, especially with all of their offensive line injuries. And one of their starting CB's, Hill I think, is out with an injury.

WKTSWAY 0
QFT! But our offense better get a whole lot better before Pittsburgh.Yeah, hope that's not all cause of Turner being gone and Smith can get better quick.2-0 in the division so far is awesome though...can make it 3-0 in week 4 vs. Sea and the division is looking very good. PMJackson21 0
BUMP FOR NINER PRIDE! We played great today. Whoever that offense guru we signed helped a lot, 37 POINTS BABY!Ya, that was an entertaining game too, pretty much the only thing I enjoyed this Sunday. The Cardinals executed horribly down the stretch though, so the Niners were pretty lucky.Heh the offensive 'guru' they brought in was the offense coordinator under Erickson, so I'm not overly excited. It was nice to see them make an effort to get Gore the ball a ton. They are 9-1 all time when he has at least 20 carries....and that is the first time he has had 20 carries this year. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF? How bad of a game plan can you devise where you don't get him the ball like that? Tollner probably walked in, said 'Get Gore the ball.', and went home, ate his 4:30 pm dinner, and went to sleep.Pretty disappointing year.
gobears 0
Niners got lucky to win this game but a win is a win1. Tollner will get a lot of the credit for the Offense's revival - maybe all he said was to feed Gore and Vernon as Gore saw a ton of plays and I noticed many of the early pass plays including the first td were going to Vernon. Darrell Jackson continues to have the dropsies. Arnaz Battle showed some speed that I didn't know he had, either that or the Cards' DBs are pretty slow.2. Patrick Willis is a beast - besides being all over the field, he ran down the Cards' WR which allowed Rackers to miss the winning field goal. Even though the DB might have gotten there in time, just seeing Willis hustle like that felt very very good.3. Nolan's in-game coaching continues to baffle. Having Nedney kick a 55 yarder with eleven seconds left instead of running the clock down (it was first or second down) allowed the Cards to have a chance at the hail mary could have been a back breaker.4. Also right before the long reception that Willis made a great play on, Nolan used up his last time out in the OT and both were for the defense. Let's burn all our time outs and allow a huge play after burning our last time out.5. At least he went for it on fourth down late in the game even though Gore didn't get the first - maybe he did learn something from last week's game against the Rams. Nolan needs a special assistant the sidelines, a "duh" coach to inform Nolan when he's making a duh decision. No one else is doing it.Niners vs Panthers next week - a chance for back to back wins. WKTSWAY 0
Mike Martz new O-coord I don't like it personally. But if he can turn around the offense like he did for the Rams, it's worth a shot I guess.

Didn't listen to the head coach, the players didn't like him, and he would structure his game plan based on what the media thought he should do just to spite them. He wasn't the large problem with this team, because let me tell you, the Lions are a hilarious joke of a NFL team, but he was part of it.

SBriand 4
They did also manage to win a lot more than they have in the past with his game planning.I wouldn't say that their 4 extra wins came from Martz and his offensive scheme. His offensive schemes cost the Lions 3 or 4 games. They had an easy early half of the schedule and took advantage of it, barely, in most of those games. Then they played good teams and showed who they really were and Martz played a lot of childish games within those games. I have a huge despise for this whole organization so I am bit biased in my opinions, but I think you would find that many of the fans and media blame Martz for many of the failures this past season. Hell, listening to local sports radio right now and guess who they are talking about...Martz. lol
