No_Neck 0
sometimes you go broke, but if the flop comes 7- 4 -2 and a rock is betting into you..... guess what?
liveactiononly 0
sometimes you go broke, but if the flop comes 7- 4 -2 and a rock is betting into you..... guess what?Well, to start with you have to have a very good read as to your opponents betting habits for it to be profitable to fold in these types of situations when you have a very powerful hand and your opponent has one that dominates in as such with a set. The second thing you have to do is bet in such a way that makes it impossible or close to impossible for your opponent to be raising you with something that loses to your hand. Realistically, sometimes you are just going to get trapped, or pot stuck, and your going to lose all your chips. But on some occasions, particularly ones where your opponent moves a lot of chips as a raise or a bet, you can safely presume that the hands that you can beat would not have made this play. You have a horrible hand pre-flop, and should of easily folded pre-flop. As for the flop play, why check-raise? Middle set and non-nut flush draw is not a hand I slowplay in PLO. jowest 0
here is a good example of a very obvious lay down of top pair to the villain's set.you have KJo on the button. the opponent limps you raise 3 times BB and everyone folds but the opponent calls. flop comes J7x and you hit top pair. that is it. top pair decent (not top) kicker. opponent checks. you bet (and you should) and opponent check raises HUGE. Opponent obviously has you beat. Lay it down. Only a complete donk would call all his chips with KJo in this situation

With an M of way over 50 and plenty of play to go at the final table of the WSOP, its an obvious laydown for even the biggest donk who sticks it all-in on fourth street with just a flush draw. And about that Omaha hand, I was sucked out on with top set vs rivered quads 4 times in an hour the other day, no joke. Guess it made up for me hitting my quads vs a higher set twice the previous day. I think that hand happens like once an hour if you play fast enough.
doublemeup 0
The real pros know when to fold a straight flush because its so fucking obvious your opponent has the royal flush and you're drawing dead. Not that its needed...well...maybesw
Jerry 0
I just wanted to say: GOOD QUESTION OP!I have also been wondering this quite a few times. My best strategy so far has been to check/call on every street. Just in case top pair is good...- Jerry Carmichael
