Napa Lite 3,278
So put everything under a S corp? A C corp? Llc? Wheres my lawyer? Figure out what I have to do. Daddy would be beside himself if he lost his TV or iPad in a lawsuit.
Scroom 436
Corps require maintenance and the public records footprint is significantly wider than a trust (which in many states are totally private). Trust laws vary from state to state. Don't incorporate your own name into the trust title if you dont have to (people stupidly do this all the time thus negating a huge asset protection element of the trust) and register the address to a PO Box. There isn't much you can do to avoid subpoena power but you can lay a hard beat on a private asset investigation if there's no 'searchable' nexus between you and the property since they have nowhere to start. Keep your identifiable trust owned assets separate from your other assets. Asset investigations usually involve a real world investigator snooping around in your life. If your car is registered to the XYZ Trust, an investigator drives by, sees it in your driveway, looks up the license plate and bingo, now has the name of your trust, he'll be able to locate any property registered to that same name. Its not super tricky, you just have to think like an investigator thinks who is trying to figure out what you own so he can take it.

InternetExplorer 2,609
I get so sad when I get to the very end of the application process and they have the mandatory GPA question. it's just so demoralizing to know you're being auto-shit canned over bad decisions from 5+ years ago. on second thought, I probably shouldn't be complaining about this around scram. SuitedAces21 2,722
they aren't going to confirm or verify your gpa. just tell them its what they want and succeed. #legaladvice
Tiltinagain 973
Hell yes you ask for more if you think that's where your real value is. If their dicks as hard as you make it sound for you they'll at the very least say no and say this is what we're offering. And then maybe you try to get a few more vacation days instead. The games the game. Agreed, thanks. When the COO and Owner of the company are giving up a Sunday to travel to meet you for a couple of hours, the hard on is Viagra assisted it would seem. they aren't going to confirm or verify your gpa. just tell them its what they want and succeed. #legaladvice No. Definitely do NOT do this. InternetExplorer 2,609
I had to upload my official transcript, certified PDF, whatever. so yeah. I'm gonna go ahead and disregard this legal advice. I actually knocked out two apps tonight, feel pretty good about it. brings me to a total of five really thorough applications during what has been one of the busiest times in my career. Scroom 436
Back when I used to work jobs, I would completely fabricate educational backgrounds, got hired most of the time and they never, ever checked. They were for some pretty decent positions, too. Granted, there are some professions where this isn't possible but I think people seriously over-estimate the lengths HR is willing to go to to verify this stuff. Even services like HireRight have serious limitations. Protip: Think like an employer out to verify the institutions, then start probing various schools to determine what their protocol is for releasing graduate information. Find one that requires forms. Say you went there and get a fake diploma from one of the Mexican Grocery Stores in Pilsen that specializes in high quality fake documents for illegal immigrants.

Napa Lite 3,278
Just saw a new IA lottery commercial where the point is dream of paying off your mortgage by playing the lottery. Don't actually use that money to pay off your mortgage. No no. You're only going to get ahead in this world if you're lucky enough to win the lottery. Ron_Mexico 4,219
I feel ok beefing it up a bit because my last college was 20 years ago. For the jobs I'm searching out, nobody is spending the time and effort to get college transcripts from 20 years ago when I have 15 years industry experience. Liberty Mutual said they were gonna check it all. I was a tad worried. Did all the interviews, thought I crushed. Didn't get that one

I worked for three weeks as the regional marketing director for a major Fortune 500 company before getting fired for 'expense account abuse' and suspicion of dropping an upper decker in the executive John. Played that ****** like a total freeroll, made $8K and stole two laptops,. They never had time to figure out whether or not I really did graduate from Stanford.

Didn't get that one I haven't been asked about my gpa in an interview since I was in my 20s maybe. at this point if I was I would probably just end the interview by saying something like "I have no earthly idea and, frankly, if this is the type of culture to place high importance on something that has almost no direct correlation to practical success, I don't think this is going to be a a good fit for me." Aim higher. They're less likely to check the higher up you go. Ron_Mexico 4,219
College grades and degrees are great and all, but they don't always impress me. Don't get me wrong, they have their merits and it shows you can complete something. When I was a head teller at Citi, we had this young girl, couple a 4 years out of college with a psychology degree, she couldn't balance a teller drawer and couldn't understand basic concepts of banking and balancing. She was a cute blonde though

Just goes to show how stupid those kind of rules are and the restrictions they put on an employer in terms of finding good candidates that can actually do the job. Degrees, or rather the education that brings the degree, is valuable for certain careers obviously but for most jobs I think requiring a degree is just a super lazy way of cutting down the number of applications HR has to sift through. I have no idea what my college GPA was not how I would even find out. So Guapo, what APV are we drinking tonight?
