brvheart 1,752
Brv, I'm about to go Mac. I'm tired of my laptops dying every 18 months. Besides cost tell me why I shouldn't. Cost is the main thing. Even if you buy the top of the line Mac now, in 4-5 years it's junk. And, of course, like Steve said, they break too. Keep in mind, Apple software is different, so certain things won't run. Most will, but some stuff won't. I know the scanner I have doesn't have Mac support, for an example. Let us know how you like it.
Napa_Don 688
Just decided to keep it casual. Red/blue/white/grey flannel...dark blue jeans...brown boots.
brvheart 1,752
the song i can't stop listening to in the car right now is MIRRORS by JT. great song. really liking it. JT is awesome. Mirrors is the best song on 20/20. I love that it's like 8 minutes long. You can really cover some time in the car listening to it on repeat .
Tiltinagain 973
If a Mac is going to be junk in 4 years anyway, why wouldn't you just by 2 PC's for less than one mac costs during that time and not have to convert all your shit to Apple?
brvheart 1,752
There in lies the question .
InternetExplorer 2,609
"I spoke with michele in hr and she said jeff did great in the phone interview but she said the position was more ops which he wasnt interested in. She is still circling his resume with client facing and trading desks. She said he is still in consideration" I did not express disinterest at any point. I have no idea where that came from. but ok! YonYonson 156
they could hear it in your voice.
Tiltinagain 973
Maybe by not proactively showing interest in Ops she assumed you had no interest. Because most recruiters/HR people suck at life.
The Ocho 970
If a Mac is going to be junk in 4 years anyway, why wouldn't you just by 2 PC's for less than one mac costs during that time and not have to convert all your shit to Apple? Well, junk in 4 years is a little hyperbole. I am geting 18-24 months out of laptops before they shit out. Usually hard drive crashes or mother boards frying. I am spending way to much time dealing with that. So if I pay double the price for a machine and get twice the time plus better performance and reliability, i think it's a no brainer. Just a lot of up front costs. Plus they have the mini mac, which is like $599 and basically a desktop computer that I can use for my assistant and as a server and go fully over to Mac. I just need to figure out the best cloud storage as I don't want to keep stuff on my HD anymore. I think Google Drive is the answer, but not 100% sure on that yet.
frautotenkinder 1,025
You people make me feel steady and true at my job. My workplace feels sketchy (like the internal politics are pissing me off). I did get my first six figure gift (!!!) this week, so I feel like yes, Frau, you should stay in this joint for twelve more months. My last organization had stupid crazy indulgent benefits. This one has piss poor benefits and insurance. The better benefits place had no room for growth for me, and in general, I was a poor fit. I'm hoping the time I spend at low benefits place can be leveraged into a good future job. FWIW, there's a lot of steady jobs in LA with built in unemployment. A friend of mine is an animator--he works four months a year, will always be re-hired by the show, and can collect unemployment the other eight months a year. Tonight I worked a donor event. I wore jeans, a dark green sweater, and red flats (trust me, it doesn't sound like I looked nice, but I totally fit in with rich white people who like to think they can be relaxed). Towards the end of the cocktail reception a woman came up to me and told me she loved my shoes. We talked a little, she gave me her business card and told me A. She's an artist. B. She wants to film me. I didn't ask, but are you assuming clothes on or off? Strat, I officially got invited to another wedding yesterday. My old bosses daughter/coworker. Thought I might get removed from the list after I quit but I guess not. That's four weddings this year that I'm invited to (I'm in one of them) for those counting at home. I got invited to a wedding this week, too. In Chicago, this fall, at Adler Planetarium.

Theraflu 1,035
I assume clothes on, but I'm about as far removed from an LA-lifestyle as you can be. Congrats, though. On the large donors, and the porn people wanting you.
