chipsnski 0
We are headed to Vegas Sept. 4th-7th and looking at a few places to stay. The most reasonable and nicest is the Luxor from what i have seen in that price range.Anyone played there and/or stayed there?Any comparable hotels on the strip?I am looking to play 1-2,NL or 5-5, NL in the area so my girl needs a nice pool to hang out at during the day etc.She saw some pics of the rooms and liked the mirrors on the walls  If i get enough feedback, I might post some pics.. Any thoughts? VegasScribs 0
The luxor sucks, but the Mandalay bay is right next door, and they have a decent game there and the pool is awesome.
Miss J 0
gorgeous hotel, dont know about the play though, but who cares you can just wander across the street to a bunch of places.
bdc30 0
Luxor is crap. Didn't play poker there. In fact, didn't play anything there.Just wanted out of there as fast as I could.Do yourself a favour, spend a bit morecash and stay somewhere decent. You (and your girl - trust me) willbe MUCH happier you did. Bijjy 0
They have an insanely soft 1/2 and 2/5 NL game, the rooms are nice, the price is very reasonable, and the location is pretty good also.
asorewinner 0
i used to get a casino rate of $75 all nights for a two room jacuzzi suite...it was great...the poker room sux, and their $100 daily tourney sux.

PhishForChips 0
Check Americawestvacations.com I found 3 nights at the Mandalay Bay with airfare RT for $500 a person. This seemed to be a very reasonable rate for me as I like the pool there and the Bay is a great hotel.
chipsnski 0
The luxor sucks, but the Mandalay bay is right next door, and they have a decent game there and the pool is awesome. The Card play sucks or the hotel sucks?I am more concerned with the hotel sucking as I am making a list of places to play.Hotel Price range right now is about Luxor/Excalibur and the likes.Of course if it was just a bunch of guys playing poker the whole time, we would stay at the San Remo but alas, have to keep the little lady somewhat happy.Keep the posts coming. They are hilarious.BUT if you say something sucks, please state whatever oddball reason why it sucks!
fubar1 0
I have stayed there, I liked the location rooms are nice and clean nothing special good deal for the price not much of a card room
MDBLakers 0
I just got back from the Luxor. I was there from July 3rd-5th. For the price the Luxor is ok. I wouldn't say it's crap. There is definite crap on the strip and the Luxor is not. The rooms are decent if you get the new ones on the East wing the buffet is good and it has a nice food court upstairs. IMAX thearter as well. The pool is good and my wife liked the day spa there. The poker room is small with fishy players. The daily freezeout tournament structure sucks and the payout. I played a little $50 NL 1/1/2 blinds and 2/4 limit but that was it. However it's close to other casinos which is nice. You can play poker at Excalibur, Aladdin, Mandalay Bay, or Imperial Palace. Check out the Monte Carlo too. Nice rooms for a good price. Decent Pool w/ spa, wave machine, and lazy river.
royyoung 0
I just got back 2 weeks ago and would say there NL game is soft.To me it really depends on what your there for.I was looking for the donkeys who have barley played and if thats what you want i will give you some:Imperial palace-the place is a dump but i walked into a game were they had just finished a "poker lesson" now it was a 2-4 game but in 3 hours i was up $250Flamingo hilton-they pay 10 high hands for the day and alot of bad players cashed about 400there.and the biggest joke is circus circus the worst hotel ever but alot parents who have never played and i raked them after midnight when there kids were asleep.lolAlso try sahara tourney its very good

Good Luck finding your room on those damn inclinators (elevators), every room looks the same! I got lost everytime! Poker room full of idiots !!!Go to the Wynn.......good rates for the summer! dolfan 0
The $1-$3 NL game at the Excalibur was extremely soft when I played there. People were calling down with second pair, aces with weak kickers, and one dude actually folded an aces full boat because there were four diamonds out there and he didn't know he had a boat. The dealer wouldn't let him live it down either, it ruled.

Give it a shot you will be pleasantly suprised i'm sure
Twigsta13 0
I just got back from vegas and stayed on that side of the strip...I think if I were you I would head over to excalibur from the luxor to do the majority of your poker playing. The blind structures are set up weird, but I felt the games were much better over there (I think dolfan's story says it all). Also the Luxor has a TERRIBLE 40 dollar tournament that is organized VERY poorly and is just an all-in fest from the start. You get practically no tourney chips whatsoever to start. I really enjoyed the aladdin's poker room, and saw some action at the MGM's as well.Wynn is awesome, as everyone has detailed too.
Maxshred 0
I just returned from a weekend stay in Vegas, July 16-18. I stayed at the Luxor as I have numerous times. The Luxor has very nice rooms for the money. I recommend staying in the towers and not the pyramid. The rooms are nicer and the bathrooms are very, very much nicer. As for the poker room. About the only thing you are going to be able to do there is beat up on a 1-2 or 3-6 game. I went over to the MGM and played. They have a brand new poker room there that is very nice. And a few NLHE games to boot.~Dano
chipsnski 0
Made my reservations at the Luxor for Sept. 4th through the 6th. $150 the first night and then $80 for the other two nights. pretty good deals.
typesick 0
Friend of mine stayed at Luxor and MGM Grand...She said her Luxor experience was significantly better...
jeffgen 0
I've stayed there a few years ago... it wasn't THAT bad! Of course the Bellagio or Wynn is much nicer, but more expensive as well. I'll think you'll find it's a decent room for the price (if you are in the towers). Haven't been to their poker room though. Good luck and have fun!!

Uppie_ 0
Did not like the luxor dealers at ever game were unfriendly and barely spoke english. if you want nice the WYNN is the place to be it is unreal. i am sure the rooms at theluxor are decent they have to be you really can't go wrong on the strip anywhere. you won't spend all that much time in your hotel anyway from my expereince. and you will probably get lost a half dozen times but have fun. Othafa9 0
Stay at Aladdin, its reasonably priced, right in the center of the strip, so the other hotels are easily accessible, and plenty of 1/2 no limit action.
DKE_XP120 0
buckle in for the diagonal elevators... mess with you the first time you get on them and dont expect it.... i stayed there back when I was 14 and went with my rents, so I know nothing of the casino.... excellent espresso bar though
