Casey Anthony Trial

...Do you think the "CSI effect" had an effect on the outcome? What I mean is that on TV and movies they are always able to find forensic evidence to clearly label the killer which is rarely the reality of the situation. So without clear cut evidence the jury was unable to connect the dots with all the circumstantial evidence?
I was actually considering making a very similar response (right down to the CSI reference) earlier. Yes. I think that when a woman doesn't seek ANY medical assistance when the allegedly accidental death occurred, takes the dead body of her child and stuffs it in a garbage bag, then takes that garbage bag and throws it in a random yard, immediately goes to a lifestyle of guiltless partying, lies to investigators and her family about the whereabouts of her dead child including making up a story about a woman who abducted the child......and the only thing of which the jury can convict her is lying to the police......I feel that the standards are too high. One of the alternate Jurors said that the prosecution couldn't prove how the girl died.

My daughter read something on facebook that was basically:I'm going to go to Florida and kill Casey Anthony then hire her lawyers so I don't have to go to jail.

Frm the TMZ article:Hours after she was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Tuesday, Vivid Entertainment honcho Steve Hirsch called up Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez, to discuss the possibility of a business relationship.Hirsch tells TMZ ... "Whether you agree with the verdict or not, Casey will want to move forward with her life and has a right to make a living. It’s not going to be easy for her and we believe we can help her make the transition into a new life."How awesome is that? AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

Hey, Amy Fisher was doing porn for a while there...it wouldn't remotely surprise me. She won't go that route anytime soon though, she'll be too busy counting book and movie deal money. America.

Someone mentioned Nancy Grace earlier and that was a point I wanted to make. Nancy Grace from day one pegged Casey as a murderer before any evidence was actually released and all that does is rile everyone up when the actual court case is tried. Someone on facebook made a good point yesterday stating that the US Justice system isn't set up to handle the 24 hour cable news cycle. Anyway, I think it would be awesome though if the judge during sentencing handed down a court order stating that no one involved could make money off of this trial. I think a judge did it before. I think it would be hilarious.

Either way, I think we can all agree that dna should give me his moderator powers, right?
Right!
I can't imagine what a news feed full of single mothers must look like with this.
Excellent.
I wonder two things. Woud this have been such a sensationalized media case if the mother was black?
Absolutely not. I read a great article once, which I of course can't find at the moment, that outlined the different media reactions based on race. Basically, one white girl gets about as much media coverage as twenty black boys.

Well, given that a black person is much more likely to get the death sentance than a white person, and a white woman is has a drastically reduced chance of getting the chair, I think it's fair to ask. Would a jury look at,

and then look over at the black girl and be able to connect the dots? It happens all the time but we don't hear about it. This isn't to say one is guilty and the other isn't, it's about the criminal justice system and jury fallibility I suppose. Hell, what if it was an Arab women?

Casey Anthony Juror: Ask Me Anything ... For a PriceOne of the jurors in the Casey Anthony trial has decided to go public with his side of the story -- but TMZ has learned, he's not talkin' ... unless the price is right ... and 5-figure offers are already pouring in.A publicist for the unidentified juror is sending a letter to media outlets, claiming, "Our client -- a married, college-educated, 33-year-old white male with two young children -- is willing to consider granting one or more media interviews so long as the opportunities are paid."We're told the juror has already received multiple offers from big news operations, including at least one major network. Sources tell us ... the high offers are in the "mid 5-figures."Paid interviews are a hazy moral territory for obvious reasons -- and the publicist, Rick French, admits, paying for sit-downs is "always a sticky subject and believe me, I understand the delicacy of this type of negotiation."But French insists ... sticky or not, his client ain't budging -- "He will not entertain any offers that don't include compensation for a myriad of reasons."

dont you have to have been convicted for that to apply? how are they going to bar you from talking about something you were found innocent of? i think i read somewhere that florida has a law that says you cannot profit off a convicted crime. but if innocent, baby its pay day.

The judge maxed her on the four misdemeanor counts (four one year sentences to run consecutive), but that was a politically cynical maneuver. She already had three years time served and he had four years available to him. He could appear to be a 'bad ass judge' while knowing that she'll do less than a year... So, in total, in exchange for getting away with murder, she paid 4 years of her life, plus being known forever as the bitch that killed her kid. Death would've been better, but their case did kinda suck.

I read that she'll be out on July 13th after the time served and time for good behavior.

Nancy Grace spent months proclaiming the Duke lacrosse kids guilty as well and then when it turned out the accuser was a lying whore and the prosecutor was a corrupt glory seeker.....Nancy Grace took that day off. She's a coward and a fraud and if there is any justice at all she will get stabbed by someone else she falsely slanders for months. As for the case itself, the prosecution should have gone for murder 2 or manslaughter. When you aim high, sometimes you miss.

Yeah, just heard that. So, the judge basically had nothing on the table, save for being able to 'make a statement' by a symbolic sentence.I mean, it isn't like she *didn't* serve three years of her life, but at this point, it was a bell that couldn't be unrung given the not guilty verdict.

God, I couldn't possibly agree more. I find her to be the single most appalling human being on earth. Her pig face, her 'contrived' personality. Worst person ever.
