New Challenge: Movin' On Up

Recommended Posts

Ok day for me, up $7 over 500 hands though... had 2 really bad beats with runner runner... On the plus side, as long as I dont screw up, I should break the $200 mark in my bankroll this week and move up a new level.Kosin Trouble

This deserves to get seen by a few more people. From our resident Stupidhead...v1.27Feral Cow Poker Hand ConverterHEM/Poker Stars NL Hold'em $1.00/$2.00 - 6 playersButton: $237.98SB: $200.00BB: $60.00

I remember when this thread was all about how bad KJ was at 3betting

He's probably not flatting KJ's raise otf if he had a2. Besides, A2 is such a small portion of his range here, we are never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding the turn. People are stupid, they do

Yeah tourney day left the cash tables tough... doesn't help when you flop the nuts, get it shipped, and get boated on... rinse, repeatdecent start on the ftops deep stack.... THAT 88k is MINE gogogoogogogoogogoggoedt: lots of fish at the opening table... and one of the nits I regularly life own at 6max :club:

Re:22I think between the fact that the villain is a huge loser and the fact that he min-raised from up front, it's a call. I think he'll have AK AQ AJ and some rando flushes enough to stack off there profitably. Also, his ptr for 2/4 and 3/6 6max (only 3500 hands or so) has him at being 50% and 67% more aggressive than optimal on the river. SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY, let's gooooooo!GL if you play donkaments, I might try to win a jersey in the KO... other than that, let's win some stacks at cash
Jersey? Where? I want a jersey.

spazz.pngYou're right, this guy never spazzes out and always raises with the best hand.
Oh wow dude you are so clever, you must win this round...oh wait
Does he tell you what he puts him on? Seriously, this seems like such a snap call against this guy. I would only consider folding this against the nittiest player in the world. Even then, it's close.
Still...maybe you enjoy falling from up on your high horse

So gross today.Got completely run over on almost every table. Some coolers here and there, like flopped set into flopped flush and no suck out, JJ<99, etc. Of course, I don't think I played very well either, so I'll blame myself for some of the losses as well.Dropping back down to 5NL and I don't plan on completely moving to 10NL until 25 buy-ins. I just don't think I was ever really playing my game at 10NL during the 3,137 hands I played this month. Which I'm sure is because I wasn't fully rolled.

That's a good guess Jon. If you don't run well at a higher limit it's very easy to clam up and play scared.

I have used this thread as motivation to try and take online poker seriously again. I am able to beat my 1/2 live game, but it's more than an hour away. I would get crushed if I try to play 1/2 NL online so n the meantime, I will start out at 2nl and try to take it as seriously as possible as I try to move up. I deposited 100 dollars and will move up to 10nl when i have 30 BI's.....or $300. Wish me luck!

Thoughts on this one? I kind of just blew up after that one... one retarded 4bet bluff and an even more retarded hero call with no reads
I stayed long enough to see the A9 shove:all sorts of perplexed:Hartman I don't recommend that. I think it's cool that you realize 200nl is a lot tougher to beat online than live, and you know that you have to move down online to compensate. However you're going to suffer from extreme boredom trying to grind out 2nl; the stakes will just be too small for you. I'd suggest 10nl at the least, possibly 25nl if you feel reasonably confident in your game.

You have the right idea on the flop. Bet and then raise. However, your raise sizing needs work. After he raises you, you should bump it up something large - certainly not a minraise. Make it like 0.36 and then shove the turn. When donks show interest in a hand, they're probably not going to fold, so you should punish them to the best you can.

1. Do you normally buy in short? If not, make sure you have a full stack so you get max value when you get stacks in, although here it doesn't really matter since villain is a shorty.2. Flop is good, but when you 4bet, it needs to be bigger. 3. Bet bigger on the turn and the river. All the money should've been in on the turn if not the flop.

GL crushing 5nl again. Def wait til you're rolled properly.Like I was gonna move up to 25nl at 25 buy-ins, but I'm still playing 10nl bc of how crushed I got at 25nl last time. So if I have a bigger bankroll and continue to work on my game, only good things can happen.+++++++Syntonic, Babs, play nice!

I usually only put one buck on. Makes me play a bit tighter.I think I should bet more aggressively. I should've made that guy fold before he hit his boat. I don't know if he would've folded anyway.

To be honest, you are exactly right. However, ANY level below 1/2 will be too small for me. I am going to just try to ignore the stakes, and try to become a better player. I think it would be awesome to actually start at 2nl and work all the way up to 1/2 using proper br practices. I had a discussion with King James about small stakes....I'm just going to try to take it seriously.

The thing is you won't become a better player at 2nl. Chances are you'll crush those games because they're so soft. You won't be learning anything new. If you had bad habits and leaks, which you do because all of us do, then you'll maintain those leaks as you move up in limits. It's also very boring to go start from absolute rock bottom. With $100 it'll take you a long time (in terms of volume) to move up properly. You'll flame out.If you're able to play $200nl live, then your poker bankroll should be able to handle a $400 deposit (unless you're just playing it sparingly because casinos don't offer anything lower, and you have no other options), and you should start in 10nl. imo

It was semi-tilted... but it's not a horrific playI had seen him resteal b4 (or what I thought were resteals)The move is powerful enough where I only get called by AA/KK especially with the shorty halfway in bc it looks like it can never be a bluff... my had has great equity against the shorties range as well bc i was expecting him to callI card remove an ace... I have 30% equity against KK... he just so happened to show up with aces that time and I look like a total retard. I was shooting for a final table or nothing basically... the small cashes meant nothing to me

What are you talking about? My high horse? I'm simply stating that this guy is a maniac and I think it's a huge mistake to just brush this off as a trivial fold because you get raised on the river.
BIGTYM3R_713 is looser than 97.6% of the population at $5/$10 NL Hold'em (2 max). BIGTYM3R_713 is the red dot on the Preflop Looseness Bell Curve.BIGTYM3R_713 is more aggressive than 98.9% of the population at $5/$10 NL Hold'em (2 max). The right side of the curve is more aggressive, the left side is more passive.
I have never played against this guy, obviously, so the only things I can go off are his bet sizing and his history of play. Yeah, obviously he can have a better full house here, but statistically, this guy is maniacal and historically he plays crazy.I want to hear your argument for why this is a fold, because it is not obvious to me.
