Ninja Ace 1
I don't know how you guys can watch American Football. The last couple of years I've tried to watch a bit of the superbowl and it's just ad break, ad break, ad break. How about actually show something happening if you want to keep my attention.Superbowl is a really really unfair sample size. The Superbowl is renowned for being the highest paid advertising spots and many non-football fans watch the Superbowl every year for the commercials. Most American televised sports (nobody here watches soccer unless it's pay per view or Olympics) have an equal if not greater amount of commercial breaks when compared to the NFL. Also, football likely has the most in depth *tactical* strategy, and yes even concepts of leveling, compared to any other sport. That's why I enjoy the game... that and it's a blast to play. That's kind of the other thing... if you never play the sport your chances of liking it are next to 0. I will never watch volleyball, golf, soccer... yes ITS ****ING SOCCER , or basketball (etc) and enjoy it. I much rather enjoy watching Starcraft as an e-sport, however, since I play it and can appreciate what it takes to be a pro... that and again, the strategy aspect, which is what draws me to nearly everything I enjoy in life (hence Poker, Chess, Software, etc).Basically what I'm getting at is... if you never pick up a ball and throw it around with the guys... you'll never enjoy the sport. I wouldn't expect it any different from any other sport either.
fighter 4
Oh haaaiiii.Long time no see.I totally remember someone putting up a link, in this thread, to a book about active learning. I thought it was really interesting and i'd like to order it but since it was anywhere between the 175th and 325th page, i wonder if anyone remembers the name of the book. The person who posted about it also posted a page from it, talking about the author who won a ''text remembering contest'' a year after witnessing it for the first time. Also a man who has never played golf, attempting to make it into a PGA tournament by playing 6 days a week for 6 years.kthx. http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...p;#entry3470227http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...p;#entry3470939

CobaltBlue 662
Won a pretty big pot with K-high the other day. Think I was playing 5/10 HU...opponent was 2x-ing a lot...after about a dozen hands of folding or flatting, I decided to 3-bet the ol' K8o to $70 figuring he'd give it some respect. He snap-called. Flop Q94ss. I bet ~$90 and he called. Turn xo. Pot's $320 and he has $165 behind. I actually kind of felt he was draw or on a made-but-weak hand. I put him in. He snaps with Ks7s and does not get there.

NFL certainly used to look more entertaining when they showed high lights on sunday mornings here rather than watching a full game.

QED 4
Villain in this hand is a 18/15 "reg" I have about 1.2k hands on. His raise first on the button is 29% and he c-bets 56% of the time.Feral Cow Poker Hand ConverterHEM/Poker Stars NL Hold'em $0.10/$0.25 - 4 playersButton: $25.00 SB: $25.35 (Hero)BB: $53.17 UTG: $21.71 Preflop: ($0.35) Hero is SB with (4 players)UTG folds, Button raises to $0.75, Hero calls $0.65, BB foldsFlop: ($1.75) (2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25Turn: ($4.25) (2 players)Hero checks, Button checksRiver: ($4.25) (2 players)Hero bets ?So at this point I want to over bet because he probably folds all his unpaired hands and we can zeebo him here with any pair he might have, the question is how big of an over bet do we think we can get away with here? Over betting rivers isn't something I have much experience with so I didn't really have a clue on sizing.
CobaltBlue 662
If I'm overbetting there, I'd tend to bet like $5.

Over betting rivers isn't something I have much experience with so I didn't really have a clue on sizing.I wouldn't overbet here. Especially vs a reg. This is the classic fish with quads line. c/c flop, check turn, realise that the pot is as small as their poker ability and over bet. I just never see this getting a call. If you handed me AA in this situation and you overbet in this spot, I would fold 100% of the time. Just value bet.
