Timwakefield's Top 20 Tv Shows Of The Decade

Recommended Posts

So, I feel like tv got really good this decade. Anyways, here's my list, which is by no means definitive and just reflects which shows I've most enjoyed watching. There's no other criteria than that. I divided it between comedies and everything else, but you can just do one list or whatever you want, see what I care! Also, I like pictures, so there's a bunch of pictures.Action/Drama1. the-wire.jpgThe Wire2. breaking-bad_080210.jpgBreaking Bad3. serenity_800.jpgFirefly4. edward-james-olmos-adama-battlestar.jpgBattlestar Galactica5. the-shield.jpgThe Shield6. generation_kill_1.jpgGeneration Kill7. 24.jpg248. band_of_brothers_still02.jpgBand of Brothers9. lost-fire_water-hurley-libby_116363.jpgLost10. dexter3-blood-744449.jpgDexterComedy 1. gobsegway.jpgArrested Development2. officeuk.jpgThe Office (UK)3. sunny.jpgIt's Always Sunny In Philadelphia4. freaksandgeeks.jpgFreaks And Geeks5. fotc01_murray_sings.jpgFlight of the Conchords6. curb.jpgCurb Your Enthusiasm7. officeus.jpgThe Office (US)8. meatwad2.jpgAqua Teen Hunger Force9. weeds.jpgWeeds10. Community-tv-24.jpgCommunityIt's quite possible I've forgotten something(s). I didn't include The Sopranos because I just never got that into it and thus never watched much. I've got nothing against it though. Same with Deadwood.Honorable Mention: Top Chef

Here's a list of your shows that I've seen:

24 (Season 1 only)Arrested Development
Needless to say, I'm going to have trouble coming up with 20. How about 4?My list would be Arrested Development, The West Wing, American Idol, and Life.

Wait, you don't watch even the US Office?? Seriously? You would love that show. IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA!!?? I swear to you, that will be your new favorite show. There are at least 2 or 3 other absolute comedy essentials on my list, but I don't want to overwhelm you or make my suggestions seem less imperative. Just watch It's Always Sunny. Get season 1 on dvd. Jesus, man.

There's actually a lot of shows that I'd like to watch, but most of my TV time is used for movies.

Still can't believe how many people have never even heard of Freaks and Geeks. Such an awesome show.
Yeah I could easily have it at #3 or even #2, it's just that the ones now occupying those spots make me laugh harder. In other words, Freaks & Geeks probably suffered on my list because of how I divided it between comedy and other, since it has a lot of dramatic elements.

I think it is obvious when you look at this thread and the top 20 movie thread that TV became very awesome this decade.....apparently at the expense of movies.Drama/Reality:1) Sopranos2) West Wing3) Deadwood4) Fringe5) The Wire6) House7) Eli Stone8) American Idol9) 24 (would have been much higher in 2005)10) Prison BreakHonorable Mention: Life, Life on Mars, Friday Night Lights, Law and Order(s), TravelerComedy/Other:1) The Office (US)2) Family Guy3) Psych4) Weeds5) South Park6) The Daily Show7) Arrested Development8) Ninja Warrior (G4 network)9) Chuck10) ScrubsHonorable Mention: Colbert Report, Politically Incorrect, Modern Family (just needed more time to crack the list), Everybody Loves RaymondI cannot believe Life did not make my top 10 drama list. I could drop Idol for it but I watch Idol every year so I must like it.

I don't like bothering to make lists of my own, but I'd like to mention that Timmy's comedy list is very good, but any drama list has to include West Wing and Sopranos to be taken seriously.

Most of us are under 50.
I was so excited to make an old people joke. Don't you have animal lives to save?I am sure Mad Men would have made my list if I had seen it at all. Is there anyone else who doesn't like Curb? Anyone?

9 Jersey Shore ( a late entry)
I enjoy the fact that you listed this as a drama.

For every post I make, a young animal dies. And it's worth it.

Sadly I don't watch TV Shows really. My wife and I want to find a show we can tune in to each week but everything we seem to try just gets boring or I change the channel, or whatever. I just can't get get glued to one show. 24 worked for me about a year or two but once I missed a couple shows I was lost. If anyone has suggestions that we could watch that'd be cool. Something that we can just tune in and watch and not have to know 3 seasons worth of stuff to catch up on.Here are a few of my favourite shows of this decade (Mostly are all reality type):SurvivorBig BrotherSurvivormanThe First 48Manhunters: Fugitve Task ForceKenny vs SpennyKing of QueensTwo and a half men
