What is unusual about that situation?3betting the flop and bet/folding the turn is perfectly understandable under the right circumstances. The way you describe it makes it sound like you were probably outclassed at the table in question... which is a pretty sad state of affairs in a live 3/6 game.

It wasn't the decision, but the way the kid played it that I found funny. The kid put the bet in the dark, was raised and he didn't even think about it and folded his cards to the muck very quickly. It just seemed very illogical to me.

The fact that it was in the dark doesnt change anything. He was going to bet no matter what came. The other guy raised after just calling the flop 3bet. Do you show down all hands that you 3bet the flop with?

I just busted out of a tournament, but a few hands before i did this hand happened: (not a bad beat whine)blinds 300-600folded round to MP who raises to 2600, I'm on the button with AdKd. I go all in for 9600, I have a tell on this guy and know i'm in good shape. But then the small blind calls all in for 8000. MP folds. I still dont think i'm in too bad shape, but ultimately i was kind of hoping to just take down the pot.small blinds flips up AsQs. Excellent i think, until he rivers his flush. I'm pretty annoyed but not saying anything, when he says:"hey man you shouldn't have gone all in with just AK."hold up....me: "hang on mate, you called all in with AQ!! what makes my all in so bad?" now i'm getting pretty annoyed cos this guy is just so crap at poker and now he's trying to justify his win.him: "yeh but i had the spade draw"me: (thinking) "Are you absolutely retarded?"Me (saying): "what about my diamond draw? thats just a likely as your spade draw"him:"well no, look what came out. no diamonds and 3 spades."me: "**** off!!" jumping across the table and banging his head against the wall until his face is unrecognizable...ok so that last line is made up, but still, something makes me wonder why people like that play poker? do they actually think they will win?!
Yeah, they do... :club:

I just witnessed a great battle of wits on UB at a 1/2 table:Player 1 calls capped flop from utg with 62s (after initially calling. It was capped backed to him.) Player 1 bets board of A 4 5, gets raised and reraised before it gets back to him. He calls.River is 3. He bets, gets raiesed, blah blah blah. He ends up winning with a straight.Player 2: You called a capped preflop with 62???player 1: Yep. they were sooted. I already had the first bet in, so I was priced in the hand.2: You don't deserve to win a single pot with play like that.1: If the pot is big enough, it's worth the risk, because all of you are probably playing big cards, so there are little cards left in the deck for me to hit.2: Oh.....My......God :club: 1. Well, I won didn't I? Just proves my point. It's been over 15 minutes, and they're still arguing about that hand!! :D

Wow I can't believe I forgot about this story, I sure without a doubt that it will be top 3 of all stories put here of all time, so here it goes. Bare with the length, it's good trust me.This took place 2 years ago. My brother was about 17 and the fish of the story is his friend also the same age. We'll just say his name is Kenny, and my brother's is Phil. It takes place in a small stakes tournament at home (it's small because most of our friends are broke or cheap). Kenny thought he was literally the shiit, he watches it on TV so he thinks he knows everything (typical fish in many respects, but after this story you'll see he's ascended to a higher level of stupidity). Of course he sucks *** at poker and is easily beaten. Anyways he wants to play us and we say yes of course because we never pass up free money. We each put up $10 for a tournament at our house with the 4 of us. Me, my brother, Kenny, and Kenny's cousin who remained very stoic and quiet the whole time. Kenny got 4th right away. I end up getting second, and my brother wins. Kenny wants to keep playing afterwards, but it was getting late and my dad didn't want us waking him up. I decided to go out with some of my friends and declined, but Phil said that he will play, but he's going to Jack in the Box to get food first. Kenny says fine, and that they'll play at his house when he gets food. Him and his cousin leave to go home, I go, and my brother leaves as well. The next day my brother tells me the most ridiculous story of what happened. I normally would've beat the shiit out of Kenny for doing this, but after hearing the story I felt that he literally was retarded, and attacking retarded people is wrong. Anyways here Phil telling me the story:"So I got to Kenny's house last night, we decided to play heads up again for 10 bucks. Right when I got there we started playing, he literally delt my hand as I walked in the door. I didn't even think about shuffling or even asking to cut the deck. Anyways I get K3 offsuit, and I raise on the button. He just calls. Flop is K K 3. So I flop a full boat. He bets out, I raise, he reraises, I go all in and he calls with AK. He thinks he's got the hand won while he's dealing the next cards. As he deals out the turn and river, both didn't help, I end up winning. As he starts to rake in the pot I had to show him that I paired my 3 on the flop, and in the back of the room his cousin starts laughing quietly. Later on we were hanging out afterwards and Kenny left the room because he got a call on his phone. While he was gone I asked his cousin, 'why were you laughing during the hand?' (Here's it comes) He says, 'Dude, Kenny rigged the deck so that you would both hit 3 kings, but he forgot to make sure that you wouldn't pair your 3!' "I present to you, the forum, the only player who can't even win when he's RIGS THE DECK! :club::D:D

No, he didn't kick his *** for the same reason I didn't, he's retarded. I was never good friends with him anyways, and since it didn't happen to me I didn't care. If he was smarter and he won, different case altogether. Also he was real scrawny and it definitely wasn't a fear of fighting him. Plus, if you had a guy in your home game that couldn't even win when he chooses what cards each player gets, wouldn't you want to be his friend?Second, this is just what my brother told me. In home games just because you're on the button doesn't mean you're dealing the cards, or at least it's not a rule that seems too important. Kenny obviously delt quickly so my brother wouldn't get a chance to shuffle or cut the deck. Also Kenny is too stupid to give himself the button. Or maybe I got it slightly mixed up and maybe Kenny was on the button dealing and my brother raised him from the BB. Regardless, the preflop play wasn't the punchline, but I do understand the need for stories to be as perfect as possible. However I'm sure most of these stories aren't 100% accurate.

Playing in a home game. The fish has a big stack. The second largest chip stack pushes all in with pocket K's pre flop after a little raising battle.Fish- "Man I think I have to call this. It is my favorit hand. I call, I have Q5"He then turns over Q5 offsuit!

got a friend who has the disease of talking alot of ****. He told m he had won 7g's on PS playing 5-10 limit holdem which i knew was a lie because i have played SNG's with this guy probably atleast 10-15 times i knew there was NO WAY in any form of poker that this guy was a winner in any sense of the word.making that much money for him was impossible unless he hit some retarded rush with 10 tables open. And he never even mentioned if he had been multi tabling which you would have to be cause he said it took a 3 dayswe ended up going to brantford casino that night and he sat down with 70$ at the 2-5 table? and lost it in about 12 mins. How can people be so stupid.. my 3 year old neice wouldnt buy this guys bull ****. What goes through the brain, of people like this? :club:

sorry to quote this, I know it's painful to read.CU, dude, there is so much wrong with this.1. Maybe you did not raise enough preflop, I'll leave that alone.2. I'm guessing you pushed a lot of chips in on the flop, relative to the size of the preflop raise.... which leads to ..3. Shes' RIGHT. you got lucky. Assuming most ofr the $$$ went in post flop, you sucked out.4. Why educate or send them here to learn, although, it doesn't seem to help.unless you were describing yourself as the fish, then ok, good story.

Before I reply, I admit I'm a newbie to the forum, and a relative newbie to the game. However, one thing I have learned from these forums is that the test for a suckout is who was ahead when the money went in. In this case, you're wrong in saying that she sucked out on the flop. You raised preflop and she called, but the money was not all in at that point. According to your post, your pushed AFTER the flop, at which point you were behind (pair of K's v. 2 pair). You sucked out hitting the 7 on the river. To repeat ... a person sucks out when they are BEHIND when the money goes in, which in this case you were you, when the money went in. She was right, you got lucky. Nice play. (sw)

Without knowing how big the stacks were or how big the preflop raise was, it's hard to know which one played it worse.*cue CUI4YD posting hand details that put him in the best possible light*

i dont see how i played it bad. i mean she seemed like i should have known i was a dog. i think my all in move to protect against the straight flush draw (Q 10 hearts on the board). and i think i have said (forgive me if i didnt) that my preflop raise was pretty large, due to them being calling stations

CU... From what I've read on this site you are probably about 15 years old and, although you are actually a huge donkey, you somehow consider yourself a good poker player. This example proves my point. You played the KK terribly and your argument is ridiculous. Stop annoying people on this forum. First hour of rounds of yesterday's partypoker freeroll #69638, 7,000 players in this squirrel-fest with $400 thrown in by partypoker. (Hey, I was bored! :D ).Later in the tournament one table gets chatty (I like this, more civilized type of poker) so I ask the number two stack at the table:How do you kill a bad poker player? .....He answers "dunno"Answer: Throw a gutshot off a cliff ... :D I get lots of "lol" & "lmao" from the table, ... then it occurs to me that I have hit (with ok implied odds) a few gutshots this tournament ...One of those illuminating moments, you know? I did ok in the tournament by the way, coinsidering that in a 7,000 player tournament you are facing 500 poker players and 6,500 caffinated squirrels :club: !Sooooooo Jason, the answer to your question "When do you know you are playing a fish?" could be "when I shave in the morning, the guy in the mirror is a fish. An improving fish, but fishy all the same."
