You start attacking well respected members of the forum and you're bound to hear about it from other well respected members, like King1305.Laugh it off, don't take crap personally (especially in an online poker forum) and your life is gonna be a lot simpler.

I'd be willing to be a substantial sum of money that taking the 2/4 NL player from online and putting them in a 2/5 live game would be more successful then a 2/5 live player playing 2/4 NL online.I also agree that they are different games. Full ring vs 6max, etc. However, even if the online player one tables like the live player he is still seeing 2x (if not more) hands/hour. Meaning he sees more situations that come up, learns the best way to play more hands, learns more about position, and can figure how to combat regs and fish alike.

WHICH MAKES THE PLAYERS WHO ARE ABLE TO BEAT IT MORE SKILLED.Seriously, how hard is this concept to grasp? It's not impossible to compare online to live. What stakes do you play? Are you some live 1/2 or 2/5 grinder that is just offended that online players claim to be better?
actually, my normal game is 1-2nl up to 3-6nl 6max online. But i've always played in various casinos at various limits and i know for a fact that the garbage which shows up at live tables are beginners, and recreational players. But you're bound to find some quality players. Most of them who actually do, also play online poker. There is NO question that the players who are very good live players, are probably also playing online..So this whole comparison is flawed. Its just so simple to sign online once you're set up and play multi tables all day everyday. To truly compare these two types, you would need to take a decent sample of winning players live, who only play live, and some winning players online, who only play online.and have them play in both situations.I know you're just looking at all the live 1-2tables you have been at with 5 people sayng things like. "i hate aces, they always lose" etc etc.. thats not really fair because same is true for online where people type. stars is riggged, i never win with kings etc etc.

So what's your point? If you removed the donks from the live 2/5 games and the donks from the 2/4 online games, they'd be similar in difficulty? Sorry but this is not the case. And your statement isn't even correct. The proportion of complete retards at a live 2/5 table is going to be a lot higher than the average 2/4 game online. The average 2/5 pro (NOT someone who is completely clueless) is still pretty far behind in skill to a MSNL grinder online. The live pros generally just aren't thinking on the same level.Seriously, I'm very confused as to where you are going with this.

I created the topic expecting my fair share of bashing/sarcasm, just felt like a couple people trolled a tad too much. Admittedly I was out of line in a couple of spots. It wasn't the side-topics within the thread, rather some bashing & sarcasm that eventually got on my nerves. Some of it was funny... "Do you have the right pair of sunglasses?" lolZPlenty of good advice here once you filter though all the static. It did help me realize how unprepared I was to move at this point and saved me from a bad experience (Unless I ran HELLA good... imma luckbox!).

I remember him for a couple years ago. Let me guess: he tried something similar to my l33t plan. What happened to him???Did he TP/MM or busto? Clearly, he does not know how to run as well as I do =(

This is the reason this thread should remain. Many other players will consider making the big move to Vegas to take their shot, and this thread has a lot of solid advice and improtant reminders of just how difficult that will be....That, and I *do* enjoy my share of... spirited discussions.

about two years ago i was two weeks away from moving to las vegas. i had a friend who was going to law school and it was between there and brooklyn. at the last minute she choose brooklyn so we didn't move. i was really angry with her at the time. i had a lot of money saved up and was all ready to go and give it a shot. then some time went by and i felt relieved. i started to feel like maybe i didn't know as much as i thought i did and that i definitely would have failed. one day i made friends on AIM with one of the successful higher-midstakes players from around here. we were talking a lot and i told him about that whole thing and how in retrospect i was happy i didn't go. his reaction to it taught me a lot about what you need to succeed at this thing. the idea of not being arrogant enough to think that you could try to do that and pull it off just like does not figure into his thinking. you were probably better prepared before you posted here and everybody put a lot of doubt into your head. and fwiw in retrospect of that retrospect i think that even being as bad as i was two years ago i had about a 70% chance of succeeding.

Paging Royal Tour. Paging Royal Tour ...
ya? what do you want to hear?TB17 was out with me last night and said there was a thread about some guy claiming to make 40 an hour at live 1/2nl. I looked for it saw it to be locked.so then i found this one. Ill add a few points for this OP.Unofrtunately, some FCP'ers get the idea that if you decide to play poker as your only source of income, that you plan to turn pro and make millions.I never called myself a pro. and i didnt want to play 1/2nl for much longer than a few months.that wasnt my plan. if i made a lot of money, all the better. My reasons for doing so happened while i was in traveling and cut my travels short to move to vegas.I love Vegas and have always wanted to try playing poker there for longer than a week.I know a lot of the haters were just sour people who were either jealous they couldnt just pack up and leave to vegas, or jealous that I was actually surviving off 1/2nl and some 2/5nl.Oh and while i mention that. about the 40 an hour at 1/2.. Its like. ummm.. impossible? I mean i averaged roughly 1000 a week. i didnt keep track of my hours, but it was probably close to 40hrs a week. which is 25 an hour. Now, since i wasnt paying taxes, i was clearing 25 an hour. so in theory, its like 35 an hour i guess. but thats about as close as you'll get to 40 an hour.To the OP. I had the best time living in vegas playing small stakes. I rolled into vegas with 1500. 500 went to my rent. and 1000 went to the tables.I obviously ran well the first week. lol. i think 6 or 7 FCP'ers can vouch for it, since they witnessed it, but i was up 4k after my first 5 days.So that was the breathing room i needed, and i coasted for the next 5 months. My days consisted of getting up when i wanted. going for a fresh shake, or juice, often times i hit the Wynn cafe for breakfast. cruise the strip. shop. Rent a ferrari for $250 a rip the shit out of it for 5 hours.(you gotta be 25 tho)then i'd hit the tables, free drinkks all day long. latte's, or strawberry julius' mmm so good. and $1 an hour for 1/2 games or $2 an hour for 2/5 games would go on your players card. doesnt seem like much, but it would cover my lunch for free. Then late night i'd finish my sessions, and hit up the Luxx cafe for food. sometimes if i won big i'd cruise somewhere different. if i lost, i'd go to the Wynn terrace cafe for eggs/toast at 3am. there it was peaceful, and nice atmosphere and it helped me forget a downswing easier.Sure i spun my tires mostly, I mean i spent a tonne of cash and never built a BR. i mean i kept about 4k, but that was it.I then started to travel more, i went to san fran, then flew back to Toronto a couple times, and out to British Columbia.thats when i was stopped in seatle. as i was flying back to vegas, Homeland security had another plan for me. and it was to get my car and my shit and get out. They said i'd been there long enough as a visitor.So. when i got back to vegas. I decided to go nuts in the venetian deep stack tourneys and with some 2/5 games.unfortunately, i didnt make any big scores. and my 2/5 sessions were up and down. and basciallly made 0 dollars my last month.which was fine by me. at that point, i wanted to go big or go home. So OP, if you're young and have the chance. id' say do it. whats the worst that can happen? You lose 1500 and move back? so what? whats 1500 in a span of a 80 year life?honestly, if 1500 is a lot to you. DONT go to vegas, but if its the chance to check off 1 of your life to do's list.. i'd say go for it.antistuff is 100% correct. I used to beat up my local games and casino. and took that attitude to vegas with me. I didnt need it, cuz vegas is such a joke pool of tourists, but still. Also, i did have a lot of dealers and regulars tell me i was really good and should be playing higher, (brag) ohh, and Ya. lots more nits and skilled players online. Online can be difficult. Live low limit does have some skilled players. but i mean. theres waaaay more clueless fish

Put your feelings in the jar!
TheJoker >>> The Feelings Jar fyi :ts Nice post Royal Tour - thanks for "reaching out" to a brotha! Working & beating the local games (which are plentiful around Chicagoland) is the best option given what I have ($$$) right now. Simply put... the ONLY way for someone to succeed with a small amount of money is to run VERY well. The only thing that differed in my plan was finding some work to cover my living expenses. We all can see how fucked the economy is right now and Vegas in particular has a horrible job market. So what are my options are this point? Go to Vegas with just 4,000$ and hope I'm lucky enough not to bust out within a week? Or stay in Chicago (and I really hate this fucking weather FWIW) so I can work (steady income) & still be able to play in the abundance of local games. I'm still living under the umbrella of the my family, so it will allow the majority of my income to accumulate w/ my starting 4,000 figure.I plan on renting a room through the summer of '09. If I go busto, atleast I gave myself a decent shot. Then I'll take up the family business and live happily ever after :club:

How old is that car, cause it looks really old? Maybe that's the difference, cause the ones I was looking at were gonna rent you one that was only a year or two old and that thing looks like it's 20 years old.

Or you can just get a job as a Valet. An employee for a Valiet company I worked for in downtown Chicago crashed a Mercedes Slk 550 w/ AMG while on a joyride. LOL the kid was 18 and his parents had to dip into his college fund to cover the charges.

For me, it's not about looking like anything. I just like the style of the newer cars and that's what I'm looking to drive if I can. I'd probably rent the Viper before the Ferrari if that's the case since it's a newer styled car.Either way, thanks for the link cause I had been considering doing that, and the sites I found were ridiculous. I think they were gonna rent a 2005 ferrari to you, but they wanted like $1800/day. Another place wanted like $3200 a day.

LOL Some black guy at the IP asked me if I wanted some "party favorites". I was like , "you mean coke?" , "yeah". He's like follow me then starts heading down towards a car. I knew it was a bad idea aT the time, but I wanted to head back into the RockHouse lit-up... so I decided to take the chance. The back windows were tinted which made me a little nervous. WHile I pretended to tie my shoes at the side of the car, I reached down and grabbed a bunch of loose dirt/pebbles.I tell him, "I'm not going to get in, show me the stuff and I'll hand you the cash". He pops open the glove compartment and pulls out an 8-ball. "70$ special , homie", he annouces. "But you gotta do the switch in the car dood". 100$ is obv BS... no way it is that cheap. He wants me in the car to see how much is in my wallet. If I'm loaded with 100$ bills at the time(which I was), he'd jack me on the spot. If I didn't have much, he'd just kick me out of the car and drive off. He pats me down, saying "you're not a cop right?". Upon finishing I assure him that I'm not and decide to make my move. I reach into the pocket with my wallet using the hand that had the pebbles/dust/gravel and slowly pull it out. I start opening it with the other hand and as he peaks in... BAM!!! I then reach into his glove-compartment and grab a bunch of coke and make a run for it. I make a run to the IP and hide in the bathroom stall pretending to take a massive shit. After a halfhour I said "FUCK it", and snorted an couple lines off the toilet-paper dispenser. I went back to the Rpckhouse coked up and told some skank bitches that I had some good shit on me. We took a cab back to my room in the Sahara. I took turns snorting it off their titties and ass, then said "tiem for da thunder, bitches!". OVerall a kick-ass night!
