Merby 3
hm ok i guess thats variance. today was the EXACT opposite of yesterday. <Uphill graph>Isn't it nice when the donkeys still call you down with two-outers, but don't hit them?
TravisG 0
Isn't it nice when the donkeys still call you down with two-outers, but don't hit them? HELL YEAH! i started my month about 5 days ago and put in about 5k hands. i'll put in another 10k hands until the end of march and i hope i run at 5bb/100 or better for that, too. the last 5 days so far:

Alex916F 0
Hey guys havent posted in the goals thread in awhile. Been hanging out at 2+2 and other places. Poker has been kind to me lately. Been playing 50NL HU and some 100NL and results have been great. Finally figured out the pokergrapher so i will share my cash game career and more specifically the months i dont think i posted in this thread. December was not a good month...And Dec to March My Career, All from a PartyPoker free 100 dollars...
TeeSludge 0
One more week. Let's finish strong!Nice month so far.. are you playing mostly shorter stacks at 400 or are you playing random full stacks as well?
Acid_Knight 2
Nice month so far.. are you playing mostly shorter stacks at 400 or are you playing random full stacks as well?I've mostly chosen to play the shorter stack guys at all levels. I have found that it's the easiest indicator that they are a weaker player without playing a hand against them. That being said, if someone buys in full, I have no notes and they're sitting only one table, I will sometimes give them some action until I figure out if they're good or not. I mean, this is a hand from a full stacked random that I played at 2/4. I posted this in the challenge thread, but whatever. This is literally the 3rd hand we played.Hand 1: I raise OTB and he foldsHand 2: He raises OTB and I fold.Hand 3:Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (2 handed) Full Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FCP)Hero ($400)BB ($404)Preflop: Hero is Button with Q , Q . Hero raises to $12, BB raises to $36, Hero raises to $108, BB calls $72.Flop: ($216) J , 3 , 7 (2 players)BB bets $120, Hero raises to $292 (All-In), BB calls $172.Turn: ($0) 4 (2 players, 1 all-in)River: ($0) A (2 players, 1 all-in)Final Pot: $800Results in white below: BB has Qs Kc (high card, ace). Hero has Qd Qc (one pair, queens). Outcome: Hero wins $818. So, there are obviously very bad full stackers out there who are gonna do crap like calling a 4 bet on the 3rd hand with KQo. TeeSludge 0
Yah, I've gone back to basically the same approach as you. For a while there I was basically just taking on all comers and quitting them after a small sample if I thought they were decent. I did fine but the variance was more extreme and I found myself playing super long matches against capable players when I could have just been playing 500 hands a day and winning more
Acid_Knight 2
So my 1 more strong week turned into 1 really strong day. I'm gonna be done for the month now, even though there's a full week left. I've run pretty well (see graphs) but I think that I've played well and that my game has really grown a lot since I started HU 2 months ago. I'm gonna use the time that I would've spent playing railing some people and trying to help them improve, watching some CR videos and maybe trying to win my WSOP ME seat. Anyway, graphs and statistics:I actually ran $1900 above expectation this month. That whole amount actually came in my last 40 or so all in situations out of the 400 that I encountered this month. Here's the poker EV graph:The final totals:1/2 HU NLHE:7,358 hands$4,359.45 profit14.81 PTBB/1002/4 HU NLHE:4,557 hands$5,727.75 profit15.71 PTBB/100Totals:Hands 11,915Rakeback: $295Total Profit: $10,382.26I won't set goals for next month right now. Good Luck to everyone for the rest of the month!
ice4804 0
Sick month, Acid. Congrats.I know this is an extremely general and vague question, but what do you feel most improved your HU game? I'm just getting back into it with very moderate success in the past and I really want to try to do it the right way this time, and hopefully turn myself into a good HU cash player. Also, dealing with the shortstacker shenanigans becomes easier and easier because so many of them do the same thing over and over and over. It's not like there's one big thing, but I'm just making better decisions overall if you ask me. I have actually been having a hard time putting in hands HU because I have been getting up a decent amount within <100 hands and I feel like I want to stop so I don't lose it all back, which is horrible and embarassing considering how long I've been playing poker (not HU). I am always hesitant to play someone who buys in full because I honestly don't know how I match up against a respectable low stakes HU player; I just haven't played enough hands to know if I'm playing well or just running hot.
