Yeah, I actually kinda felt bad when I listened to myself that I didn't shut them down harder on the pot control comment. I was thinking about the preflop thing halfway through what he was saying and I think I just kinda missed what an awful question it was.
Sorry that we asked you awful questions. The majority of our audience have had little or no exposure to the game and the aim was to expose them to someone who could clear up misconceptions about omaha, weather mine or their own.

I mean, he said "you seem to have an affinity with the game". Would you ever hear that said about a NLHE player? They just knew a few old cliches and tried (and failed) to adapt clever points from NL to PLO.You came across very well. You managed to get some very good points across despite being presented with the most retarded questions possible.IMO.EDIT:Presenter: *PLO is almost all Europeans*Iggy: *sigh, no, you're an idiot who is pretending to know the slightest thing about PLO*
Wow, lots of hate for a segment aimed at beginning PLO players. I will send you a refund immediately.

Nothing personal, and no 'hate' intended. You just seemed to present a lot of misused and overused cliches as if they were key snippets of advice. It would be the same as saying "you shouldn't go broke with one pair" or "never go broke in an unraised pot" to a NLHE cash game player and trying to glean valuable insight and analysis from it.If you aren't an experienced omaha player it's very understandable because it's likely that most of what you will know of the game are the cliches of "bottom set is for suckers", "high pairs are weak" and "only ever draw to the nuts".Again, no offence meant. Just felt your questions were a little misguided - it was just an omaha player in an interview set up by holdem players.Oh, and I was definitely too harsh in my earlier comments. The exaggeration was done in the name of humour, not as a true transcript.

still refund needed IMO.[ ] Adam handled this good[ ] Cool[X] Touchy
i disagree. the posts in this thread were pretty rough. the guys do the best that they can. i've listened to their show for a VERY long time. maybe since like the 4th or 5th show on big poker, and i've come to understand and enjoy their strengths and weaknesses. i think they'd be the first to admit when they goofed or gave poor advice. but they obviously put a lot of work and heart into it, and a bunch of PLO nerds :club: ripping on them from everything to their lack of knowledge, type of questions, and use of the term "PLO" would obviously cause some sore feelings on their part.also, doing a favor by giving exposure to iggy, and then having him rip on them is a pretty serious "fuck-you." i don't want to say too much more, but i think adam handled himself pretty well here considering.

I disagree. This is interwebz. Even if you do your best , you will get ripped off by many people. You will receive rough , sometimes unfair and mostly unconstructive critise. You can't be touchy about these and get offended by them. So when you make a show like that , you should be open to any kind of critisim. You should have a good sense of humour to respond to those comments about the show. You shouldn't take yourself too seriously. THAT is good publicity. THAT would be good handling of this situation IMO. (An example of this : I think Stars support is so great cus of this. They don't take themselves too seriously and they have a good sense of humour. That helps their publicity a lot mroe than then commercials.)I am not saying if show was good or bad. I am not saying one is right and other one is wrong. I think Adam took it personally.

Are we sure that's even Adam's account? I don't know but it doesn't sound like something a radio show host would to me.

i think so too. i disagree that he has no right to take it personally. these aren't people offering stakes or complaining about micro stakes bad beats in gen-poker. this is a serious discussion. and at the end of the day it's a business. all things considered he was pretty nice about it imo. he joked about giving refunds and didn't slander anybody. sure, there's an underlying semi-bitterness about it, but i think that's mostly deserved.we're probably just gonna have to agree to disagree. :)luv-navy

Well, if I was brought on a show and someone asked me about going broke in NLH with one pair, I wouldn't be thinking about how awful the question was. I would take the question and turn it in the direction I wanted the instruction to go. It's a difficult medium to use for instruction and the burden falls upon the person giving the advice to try that much harder. Thanks for clearing up what you meant in your first post. I have a pretty thick skin most of the time but was in a bit of a bad mood last night when someone told me about the thread. To be honest, it wasn't your post that bothered me, it was iggy's.I have to battle to get strategy segments on the show so I take those segments a bit too personally I guess. It just gives the others that make decisions about content on the show more reason to say "see, everyone thinks its a waste of time anyway" and I have to fight even more. When listeners and guests aren't happy with it I start to think, "F it, more Brandi discussion then".That said, I will try and be more prepared in the future but there is only so much I can do. I have to rely on the ability of the guest to convey what he/she is trying to say. See the Vanessa Selbst interview for example. She is a much better NHLE player than I am and she made that interview about telling all that were listening that she knew what she is talking about.

fwiw, I think Adam dealt with it fine. He did joke about giving refunds (which I'm still waiting for btw)Other than that, I think the disappointment with the interview comes from the fact that we are kind of "omaha nerds" as someone else said, and have a deeper understanding of the game than most, and were hoping for too much out of the short segment time they had allotted. At the end of the day, it's probably a good thing to be honest. Please turn more holdem fishies on to omaha and give them incomplete information. Send them to fulltilt poker. I'll be waiting.

Iggy did this, and he did it well. In all honesty, the interview was fine but it just could have been better. It really was just the frustration of hearing the old "never go broke with one pair" style cliches. If you don't know omaha I can understand that those probably seemed like good topics to start from. Unfortunately those sayings are too simplistic and omaha isn't a game you can break into parts that easily. To give something of an analogy, the only thing I know about stud8 is that apparently you want to shoot for the low and have some backdoor chance of a high hand so you can scoop against those aiming for the high only. If I was doing a stud8 interview, I'd probably base it around that. I have absolutely no idea if that is actually valuable advice, or if it's just overly simplistic. I imagine I'd get a load of stud8 specialists ripping on me. Probably for calling it "stud8" too.

Haven't put in as many hands as I'd like this month - will have to work on that next month. Weird swing this month - but nice last couple weeks. Not done yet though.328rw9.jpg
