Please Don't Tap The Glass.

Recommended Posts

Please don't tap the glass. I hope this goes without saying around here, but please don't tell the fish how bad they are when they 3-bet for the fun of it, or call down with bottom pair against 3 players with major flop and turn action.Sorry for the minor rant, but I just watched a moron who thinks he knows everything (at a .25/.50 LHE table, mind you) tighten up the juiciest table I've had all month by typing, "lol 10 6" and "he calls with anything, I love players like that."I usually let it go, in hopes that the table will relax and go back to happy land, but he kept at it, so I actually asked him not to "berate bad players, would you prefer if they played better?" He said, "I know," and then was back at it five hands later.Sigh.Now then, who likes waffles?

I berate people that beat me with horrible hands.. when their hands at certain points were just completely uncallable, yet they do.. and hit a 2 outter.
You want them to keep doing that. That's where the money comes from.

haha.. yea, I know. But at times, it isn't the best thing. I haven't yelled at anyone in some time, been up quite a bit. But sometimes, like.. my kings getting kicked by a gut-shot straight draw on the river, when I priced him out of the hand x10.. and he hits a 5.. ehhh.. ehhh

I had the same thing last night - the good news is that the entire table starting attacking him which kept the fish there, and really loosened the table up because everyone wanted to beat this guy. Insanely irritating. And I'm amazed at so-called adults who can't control themselves online. I understand the Phil Hellmuth tirade far more than I understand typing shit in to a chat box to berate someone's play. There have been plenty of times when I'm monkey-tilted by a bad beat and yell something in displeasure - but to actually type something in the chat box shows a combination of insecurity and lack of self-control. And a big QFT goes out to the poster who said "People who do that are generally losing players."

lol - the other day I was ~4 buyins down on a PLO table (not the best start to a session, but w/e), and I'd dropped 2 buyins in one hand to one guy (Kc5c66>QQxx on a Qc6x5x flop - backdoor clubs ftw). He started saying "UR A REBUY DONK LOL" and other such witticisms because I kept rebuying full after every lost pot. I was so tempted to type "I'm on severe tilt, and I'm throwing away buyins for fun. Because of you, I'll be leaving this table and giving all this money to people on other tables kthxbye".I thought better of it. Plus, he was running at -50BB/100 over 1500 hands despite just winning 2 buyins off me, and I had position on him.

No, I do NOT want them to keep hitting 2 outters. That's where I LOSE money.... oh .... wait ... maybe you meant you want them to keep DRAWING at 2 outers! Yeah, that would be good. :club: Peace,Opie

I ****ing hate these people. Just let the fish get their money in bad ffs.I make it a point to report their chat as often as possible. If they can't chat they can't berate anyone!

Playing live I usually defend the poor play with some inane babble. "he clearly had implied odds knowing you would stack off with AA there. He was suited, so it really wasn't that much of a stretch" It is fun to put the "good player" on tilt by critcizing his play. "how could you still think AA was good there?".

Yeah if at all possible defend the play. If that's not remotely believable then use an all purpose comment like "Let him play his chips the way he wants and I'll take your chips and play them how I want"

I've been a berater at times. The best cure is to get your chat banned and start concentrating on winning. My play has improved over the last month and I have another 5 months to go on my ban.Thank you, Pokerstars!

Why didn't the OP cite the source of his post, Last month's Bluff Mag?
Originality is the art of concealing your sources.

I dont think berating a player is goign to change how they play. You could say the worst things or type the worst thigns and they are going to keep on doing the same bad plays. (Worse thing I do is just say nice hand or well played after a bad beat.)

It does two things:1) It makes them not have fun and leave the table.2) It makes them come to internet poker forums so they learn how to play.My trip to FCP was started by me improperly calling with a flush draw and some guy berating me about not knowing what pot odds where. Well I wanted to know what they were after that, and came to a poker forum to learn. Now look at me - I'm a losing player at a variety of games, not just NLHE~!!! :club:
