Gary-I have decided not to bid again on the auction, but I would like to honor your efforts with a separate gift to the Promise House. Can you send me a message with their address and the official name for the check?
I knew there was a reason that I always liked you.

Well it's obvious I am the only baller on this site willing to put his money where his mouth is. I guess I have all day tomorrow to figure out what I want to ask DN about.I'm going to make the most of this hour.Mark
See if you can make him hang up on you. That'd be a great story to tell!

PM sent This is so very generous and an extremely kind gesture. Many thanks for helping out with this cause. I'm gonna buy you a beverage of your choice if we ever get to meet in person. I would love to provide the address for The House of Promise if anyone else would like to emulate Viking's good will and make a similar personal donation. Simply awesome

Great idea Gary. You're doing a good thing here. The bids are already WAY out of my league, but I would like to donate to the charity. If it's cool with you, I'm pledging 10 percent of any/all of my tournament cashes between now and October 5th. I'll ship you the mobneys on the 5th and you can add it to the donation. In the event that I don't cash any, I'll still throw a few bucks your way. Is that ok with you?
I got the transfer Doug. This is so very cool that you didn't exactly tear up the tourney's this week but still shipped monies in the name of helping a great cause. If I ever get to play at a table you're dealing at, you get 1/2 my first real pot sir.

Lost Leader,Got your PM, will doWhen do I get DN's private cell number.Oh might as well give me his home number too so I don't waste his minutes when he's at home. And to clarify, Can I spend 10 minutes with him, then hang up and call him back 5 more times at random times of the day? Also can I post his phone number on 2+2 since they already posted his address? Is there any way to put a restriction on the number of times he can say frankly? Cause frankly, that could eat up like 1/10th of the whole time by itself. Also can I talk for 1/2 the time and then make him call up some of my buddies to tell them that I really cool and we are good friends etc? Oh wait...that's Ryland. yea nevermind.swMark

Congrats Rob. Not surprised at all you won. And don't worry about filling an hour with DN...the guy most likely will talk YOUR ear off. I have a feeling that you will both find a lot in common (much in non - poker related ways) and become good friends. And regarding GWCGWC, and this money going to Teen Challenge, house of Promise, I can personally testify to the power and goodness that is thisprogram. If I may, I'd like to share a Teen Challenge story that has personally changed me forever....10 years ago my wife's nephew Zach, (from a poor-ish broken family...Dad was into drugs bad and basically abandoned his kids) learned he had a rare form of childhood brain cancer. This condition was going to kill him. They lived in a little town 45 minutes from my house in Phoenix and therefore ended up spending the better part of a year at our house on weekends during his radiation treatments and numerous surgeries. He and I became good buddies, and he is the closest I will probably ever have to a son I guess, but really more a like a cool younger brother. I taught him how to golf, play some poker, we went to movies, etc. These were good times for sure and Sylvia and I became the good time aunt and uncle. Amazingly, he survived his cancer ordeal and was able to re-enter high school at age 16. He graduated, made new friends and moved up to the Phoenix area, where oddly enough he and I saw little of each other. But that was ok. He had new friends now and was trying to make his way as a young adult and always knew we would be there for him. But I did notice that he was drinking.....a LOT. Not super rare for a kid his age, but something to be wary of at the time and a concern for us.He also continued to have almost no contact with his real father (who by the way by this time had found his wife murdered in drug deal gone bad and was living in the streets) and while the time passed I began to see more and more troubling signs in Zach. I also began to hear rumours from his sister (another horror story and casualty of this same home, but I will spare you all that drama) that the drinking was leading to drug use as well. This troubled us greatly but we were helpless to intervene.I would try to get Zach to go golfing and start doing things with me again, but he would never answer my calls. Then one night he called us to get him out of jail. It was his 3rd DUI and he was going to to Sherriff Joe Arpioes infamous "pink underwear Tent City" jail for 30 days. Zach was in big life trouble and we were at loss as to what to do about it. I was a Psych major in college and could see all the signs of anger and depression but Zach was out of reach at this point. He didn't think he needed help. Zach ended up moving to Chicago for a year and did great, working downtown selling shoes. His bosses loved him, but he got home sick, moved back to his little town on Arizona, got back with his horrible friends and was introduced to Meth. A year late, when folks would see him, he was wired, sweating, drunk, swearing, broke, stealing, etc.....you name it. Once again, Zach was facing certain death, but this time from another killer. On New Years day of '07 Zach came stumbling in to his grandmothers house and collapsed. He then broke down and finally had reached the end of his rope, and somehow he knew this too. Now here comes the strange part....His total loser Dad, during all this time, had miraculously cleaned up his act and was now a counselor for TEEN CHALLENGE in Tucson! The guy no longer did any drugs, stopped drinking, had found Christ and was making a difference in so many lost souls lives. And how ironic that at Zachs lowest point in his life, it would be his own real Dad to have a hand in saving him. Pretty amazing stuff.Zach has been in the Teen Challenge program now for several months and is just doing amazing! He is being introduced to a steady work schedule, is working out, is helping others, goes out and searches for donations, and is helping the women in there Promise house down there. We have never been prouder of Zach and his progress is just miraculous. And non of this would have happened if it had not been for Teen Challenge. My wife and I are Christians, (my wife more so...me, stumbling a bit but a believer non the less) and we are deeply grateful for the existence of this organization. My wife and I are firm supporters and believers in this group and all their sub groups. They are truly saving lives in very real ways. Promise House...man. Those women, many very young, from all kinds of backgrounds and abuses, many with children and having no where else to turn, are finding new leases on life. It is an amazing thing and one of pure goodness. GWCGWC, FCP. Daniel, Rob...I applaud you for this. It touches me and my wife on a personal level and for that I thought I'd share this story and give you my mot sincere congratulations. And since this is my poker community, Sylvia and I will be privately donating as well. I will be contacting you soon GWC.Congrats again Rob. Know (and I'm pretty sure you already know) that you are making a huge difference in someone's life. :icon_clap:edit: I would like to add that Zach is up here visiting me this weekend which made me decide to write all this. He is on a weekend pass from his Teen Challenge duties, and we will be playing some low stakes and watching football tomorrow at Casino Arizona for fun. Zach is fascinated by the great game of poker and loves to hear the stories of all my travels and meetings with Daniel and other folks, etc. And for those who may be wondering, he has no money or time to play these days, so I'm not worried about this becoming a problem, lol. He is doing great and looking great, and we are proud of him. He is a changed man forever.Best to everyone.

Cool story ScottieOne of the reasons I decided to bid on this was the charity. As you know from my 5,000th post thread, I was a messed up kid. Being in a recovery house for 16 months and then finding Christ has been foundational to who I am today.Teen Challenge is out there 24/7 to help people that are lost. I hope all of you find a way to send them a little something something.Oh and way to bring down the whole thread Scott, yea we can really joke around now :club:

That was a most excellent post Scott and I'm glad you shared your experience with Teen Challenge. I obviously agree that it's a very worthy organization to support. The best thing about House of Promise(sub group of Teen Challenge) is that they are pro-active in helping young mothers. They do make a difference and directly impact the lives of the young women, the children and immediate family. That difference can't help but ripple into the general society as a whole. There are some fundamental truths in life. One of those truths is that people need people.

GWC or Renae - can either of you accept shipment on fulltilt? If not, I'll transfer to GWC first on stars, then move some money over for you Renae, if that works?
