Tiltinagain 973
Nobody has mentioned this yet...there is a place on Freemont street under the giant video screen thing. Deep fried twinkies and very cheap and very good jumbo hotdogs. The place has tables to eat at but no seats, unless you want to sit at a slot machine, but its worth it. Best cheap food find in Vegas. Its right next to that horrible strip club. The deep fried twinkies are so ****ing good. Anybody know what I'm talking about? If you're talking about the strip club diagonally across from the Golden Nuggett....ewwww...A couple buddies and I somehow ended up in there a couple years ago....two or three girls worth looking at but the rest of them were road kill.Nasty, dirty, scummy place inside too. bdluss 0
In terms of Cirque shows I have seen O, Ka, and Mystere. Mystere is by far my favorite. So much great athletic feats in that one it is just unbelievable. I thought Ka was pretty boring, too artsy for me. O was pretty sweet.

seacucumber 2
Most folks don't go here, but try to get up top of the Stratosphere just before the lights get turned on the Strip. Incredible views for not a lot of money, good drinks up there too. Then you can test your nerve in the dark on the sick rides they have up there. QFT. IMO everyone who's visiting or staying in Vegas has to experience "Big Shot" on top of the Stratosphere at night at least once in their life time:http://www.vegas.com/attractions/on_the_strip/bigshot.html"Soar off into space and be one with the astronauts as you're launched 160 feet in a mere 2.5 seconds at 45 mph, getting a taste of weightlessness as 4 Gs of force lift you literally off your seat. (Astronauts experience about 3.2 Gs on lift-off.)Riders then drop to 0 Gs and bungee up and down the mast three times and practically float back to the launch pad one minute later.Reaching a maximum height of 1,049 feet (including the Stratosphere Tower), the Big Shot is the ultimate rush. You'll want to ride it over and over again -- and if you do, be sure to take advantage of the half-price deal for second-time riders. But beware, this ride is not for the faint of heart."GL! rockstar2 0
"Mix" atop of Mandalay Bay "THeHotel" is my all time favorite place. It is a swanky restaraunt and a seperate lounge which overlooks the entire strip some 35 floors up. It is expensive but will impress you. It is alot of fun and who knows who you will see there. Last week when I was in Vegas four of us went for dinner, ordered two bottles of wine and had some pre-dinner cocktails for a mere $1100.00. Was it worth it? Hell yeah, the views and good times were memory makers. One hint though. Do not order the expensive wine and the cost of the evening will come down tremendously. Average price of an entree' is 40 bucks. If in the least, go up to the lounge for cocktails and to check out the view. Get there early enough to get in.Have a great time in Vegas! They do have a pretty good wine selection if you are into that.
HoosierAlum 0
I agree with abbadabba about eating in Vegas. There are so many great restaurants in the city; you will really miss out if you spend your time in the $1.99 buffet type places. If you are looking for strip clubs, its the Spearmint Rhino. Seriously, its not close.
Balloon guy 158
I saw Monty Python's Spamalot in NY and it was playing in Vegas 3 weeks ago, so this would be the best show you can see.If you feel the need to take of your shirt and take hot, wet, steamy pictures on a poker table there is some guy who's address used to be on 2+2s site that will let you use his house for free. Zach6668 513
Oh, and go to Sahara for $5 Paigow and the awesome roller coaster. That Stratosphere thing scares the crap out of me.LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLThis coming from a guy who almost got sick on the roller coaster. Also, the 95 year old cocktail servers at the Sahara suck.If you're looking for cheap drinks, etc, they have a 60's themed area, by the Nascar cafe, with $3 min BJ, and they had decent servers in that are when I was there. The roller coaster is one of the best I've ever been on, btw. So smooth. It's infinitely better than the one at NYNY. I think any roller coaster enthusiast will agree.I did all the rides on the Stratosphere as well. Insanity scared the **** out of me the first time I did it. CobaltBlue forced me to do it again, and I found it to be pretty tame the second time. I would like to do the X-Scream again, but from the front seat this time. I think that would be insane. Big shot is effing awesome, if only for the views. It's not a huge thrill ride, by itself, it's small for a power tower type ride, but the view and overall height make it awesome.
rivergirl 2
i don't know if anybody mentioned this, i kind of only skimmed responses. Depending on the number of people you are trotting around vegas with...limos are much cheaper than cabs. Any taxi i've ever taken there can hold a maximum of 4 people. If you are travelling with 5 or more (which we usually do) a limo will take you anywhere for like 25 bucks. Much better than 2 cabs at 15 each. Not to mention it's kind of cool to go everywhere in a limo. That price may have changed but it was the same when i got married there (2003) and last year when we went down. Even if it's 5-10 dollars more now, still well worth it. And you don't lose half your party. Not to mention, open alcohol is ok in a limo, i guess it's ok if you get a good cabbie too. doox 15
I'm just in a group of 3, so that shouldn't come into play. I think we'll probably get a monorail ride now and then, with cabs whenever the monorail isn't conveinant.Great responses in here, so far. I'm liking the idea of messing around with $5 Pai Gow, too. Zach6668 513
Is that like a shuttle or bus service? It's just the city bus or whatever.Double decker thing. It's semi-slow, mind you.I have no experience with the monorail, so I don't know how it compares.I loved the Deuce while I was there. $5 for a 24 hours pass is tough to beat, imo.It runs up and down the strip, and up to Freemont like every 5 mins, 24 hrs a day (less frequent in the late night/morning hours though. doox 15
Cool - I forget what the monorail was. I think you can get a 5-day pass for $40, though. That might be the best value for the places I wanna hit. Thanks for all the responses - I'm gonna start writing a few of these down to take with me.
