In the last 7 days, in my 2 biggest keeper pools non-youguys, Crosby has been traded, and both times, it was almost an afterthought, and not the centerpoint of the deal. One guy taking a flyer, another guy unloading salary.

I hate in adult league games when I score a standard goal and my team comes over to me like we should do a head pat huddle or some shit congratulate each other. Just go line and for the faceoff! I'll give my team mate a "Nice pass." or whatever if they did all the work on the play.Unless it's a crazy, sick goal or a guy that never scores, I just skate and line up and give them a point and/or a "Nice.".

more sad than suprised.Im not liking this story at all.
Me neither..As you know Im not a fan..but its a bad story. You know what made me sad this weekend...Watching Eric Lindros play..What could of been with him..He could of put up some serious numbers..He was unique and a great talent. He still did play 760 games..Almost twice as what Crosby has played to date..

I love celebrations, they are fun to watch. I wish they weren't so frowned upon. How boring would it be if everyone scored, and just kept their heads down and went to the bench. Show me some emotion!

I agree. I like celebrations. I hate that NFL players get fined for doing snow angels. It's lame. It's not really hurting anyone. I love how a NFL player can lay a big hit and stand over a guy and jaw at him and not get a taunting call but a guy runs 78 yards and gets a TD and does a snow angel and he gets 15 yards and a fine. Stoopid. Next thing you will say is that NHL players skating to the bench after a goal and slapping gloves with the bench is not allowed.

Ok, so I'm still not understanding WTF is going on with the Blues ownership situation. I heard that the current owner doesn't actually want to sell, but a piece of his backing does, and they can't agree on what that person should be paid to exit.checketts is no stranger to the industry, so I find the explanation above implausible.

Why is that implausible? Is there more to it? For one part of an ownership group to want to exit, but the entire group not to be able to agree on how much to pay him, would be a pretty common thing.

reporterchris Chris Johnston Re: Subban. RT @OnFrozenPond: #FlaPanthers Krys Barch suspended one game for insensitive remarks.I'm ok with a 1-game suspension. I view it as a reminder to be more careful with what you say. Even if Barch did call Subban a "nigger" I don't view it as a racial comment at all.

What do you mean its not a racial comment?I dont agree with suspending players for verbal stuff that happens on the ice..Because its a fine line, but the N word is definetely a racial comment regardless if you agree with the suspension or not.The problem i have is, whats insensitive to me maybe not be to others...What if a player says something like "I hope your mom dies from cancer"..What if the mom does have cancer..?Is that suspendable??

I think intent is much more relevant in determining if something is a racial slur or not. Define "nigger." I bet Barch doesn't even know what he meant when he said it. He was probably upset with Subban and said it with the intentions of upsetting Subban. Subban is clearly darker-skinned (the term "black" is DUMB and "Afican American" is even dumber, imo). Does anyone really think Krys Barch was commenting on a race of people when, in the heat of the moment, he called Subban a nigger? He wanted to piss off Subban and society has taught us that calling a darker-skinned person a "nigger" is usually an effective way to do that. It was an insensitive thing to say..just like calling your girlfriend a bitch or something during an argument is insensitive...but I don't consider it a racial slur. The comments on Twitter after the incident were beyond ridiculous. I wonder if there would have been the same outrage if Barch had called someone a homo?

I tend to agree...That we should basically ignore stuff on the ice when it comes to words..In a heat of battle players say stuff they would never in public

A bunch of sources are saying he said "Did you slip on a banana peel?" after Subban fell for no reason or something. Apparently this is just a standard line people use to make fun of people who fall for no reason, and there was no racism involved. Obviously it's not even remotely offensive if he's saying it to someone white.Whatever, gotta be careful with what you say, and who you say it to. Ok with 1 game.

If that's actually what he's getting punished for I'm completely disgusted. Not by what he said, but by the fact that instead of giving the guy the benefit of the doubt that it was an innocent comment that could be taken the wrong way, the league feels a need to launch a PC investigation and ultimately suspend a player like that. Political correctness will be the ultimate death of our culture as we know it.

I disagree with some of this, but very well said.

Pretty much anything other than using the N-word to me is non suspendable. The N-word is a lightning rod - everyone knows it. If you're using it, it is for a reason. Anything else is just a comment. No different than calling someone gay, their wife is a bitch/slut, that they're ugly, etc. Those things get said approximately 100 times a game in the NHL.All of the above is true for things said on the ice. If it is said in public, to reporters or fans, etc, that is a different story.
