Interview with Bill Fillmaff:We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Bill Fillmaff and ask him a few questions: Question: Who is Bill Fillmaff? Bill Fillmaff: (laughs) Yeah, like you don't already know who I am. Bill Fillmaff is in no uncertain terms, indisputably the best all-around poker player who will ever play on Earth. I'm a Worldwide Poker Champion.Q: Yes, you won the 1998 Worldwide Poker League Championship... Fillmaff: That's right. And I won it with my signature hand: king-jack not suited.Q: ...but critics of yours say that your championship doesn't really mean anything since it was done years ago against a relatively small field when compared to today's tournaments. Plus, the Worldwide Poker League only existed from 1996 to 1999. And 1998 was a strike year, so most of the players in the league were replacements and... Fillmaff: What exactly are you trying to say, son? Once you're a Worldwide Champion, that can't be taken away from you. I have proven again and again that I'm the best all-around poker player there is to the point that nobody even comes forward to dispute this anymore. That means I'm UNDISPUTED the best.Q: Then why haven't you participated in any World Poker Tour events or played any World Series of Poker events since 1997? Fillmaff: First of all, I don't go on this "World Poker Tour" because it's too commercial. I don't think it's right for the WPT to be making so much money off poker when people like Bill Fillmaff built the sport -- and poker IS a sport, by the way -- into what it is today. I don't play in the World Series of Poker because I was cheated there in 1997 and I'm really glad that "Tilt" [the ESPN poker drama] is showing how rigged the WSOP really is. I got cheated at the WSOP and the only way Bill Fillmaff loses is if there is cheating or really bad beats involved. So I'm not going to play an event I have no chance of winning because of cheating and bad beats. Besides, I'm too busy making money on Internet poker, that kind of stuff [the WSOP] isn't worth my time.Q: Yes, you claim to have made 6 million off Internet poker? Fillmaff: (laughs) Try 6 million in 2004 alone there, kid.Q: That seems a little hard to believe... how did you do that without winning any of the major online tournaments? Fillmaff: Oh, I won them, but I won them under aliases. I have 6 million in virtual money in my account.Q: Virtual money? What, you mean play money? Fillmaff: All money online in Internet is virtual money because it isn't made of paper, stupid. And I have 6 million of it. I'm really sorry if you're having trouble comprehending the kind of stakes I play, but that's why I'm being interviewed and why you're sitting there with your cheap little tape recorder asking the questions. And frankly I don't have time for any more of this [expletive]. I have Fillmaff Brand poker chips to sell. One more question and I'm [expletive] gone.

Hi Daniel, graphics look hot, realistic too, unlike Bicycle Casino's or that other Poker Game on XBox, cool collaberation with U of A, and congratulations on winning the poll at CardPlayer.com for "Who I really don't want to play against heads up" at 33.7%.

The University of Alberta's Poker AI is pretty cool. I've heard junk about Poki and even tried it a little last year (click on link to try it yourself - it isnt so easy to set up though). I am looking forward to checking out Stacked. I have DD Tournament Poker (which now has Annie Duke on the cover) and it's AI sucks. I mean really sucks. If you can't beat it you have no business playing poker for money. It is a great Tournment software though (cheap and easy to use - no money management for rebuys though) IMO.

Daniel-The game looks great. Is it really true that you and the other pros behind the game will be playing it on XBox Live? That would add a great component to the game.

I know this likely won't affect Stacked's sales, but really why would anyone want to pay to play against simulated players when anyone with an internet connection can play real opponents and be given money to do it with? In videogame terms it'd be like releasing a single player version of Counterstrike with bots.

Though I'm not Daniel, I do know a lot about the game given that I write about games for a living (and was at two of the Stacked sessions...more on that in a sec).Yes, it'll be set up so, if you play online and see Daniel or Erick or any of the other pros at a table, it'll be them playing. As a player, you'll be able to create a custom character, but the only ones who can be the pros are the pros themselves. And, though they aren't saying a lot about multiplayer yet, but have hinted about the likelihood of tournaments and pro appearances events.I was at the photo shoot last month with all the pros, and also went down to LA this past Friday to interview Daniel for a couple of magazines (I'll try to post a picture this afternoon). At that session, Daniel was doing the video for what will be the game's tutorial section--over 100 pages of script for that, so it'll be really comprehensive. In fact, I wanted to stay longer, because he was giving tips on suited connectors and small pairs, and I was getting a lot out of it.The game sounds like it's coming along really well, and sounds like it'll kick all of the other poker video games hard. It'll be the difference between something like the Madden NFL vs. most any other football game. The involvement of the pros in Stacked is more than just an endorsement. Daniel is offering a lot of advice and tips, and all the pros will reportedly be emulated, so their play styles will be what you'll find yourself against when you play the pro "bosses."Finally, at the risk of sounding like a giant suck-up, I will say that the impressions about Daniel being great to talk to and meet are totally true. He's friendly, animated and extremely easy to work with--unlike dozens of other celebrities I've had the opportunity to interview and work with. And his involvement should really make Stacked a good purchase when it comes out. Frankly, I can't wait to have it on PSP so I can take it with me for some quick poker during a break or in an airport. A E

From what I've seen and been told, Stacked will use the Poki AI to make for extremely realistic competition--and that it will adapt to your playing style, so you'll be challenged to expand your strategies to counter the change in competition. That should make you a better play for when you *do* go against other real player for money. If you had a tool that could analyze your play and tell you where you had leaks, wouldn't that be worth it?I don't think the concept of Stacked is to replace online poker sites or live games: For decent players, it could point out spots where they could improve; and for those who aren't playing online, it could get them to a point where they feel more comfortable playing against more than computer-controlled players (and perhaps, though that's not Stacked's mission, try playing for money). And not everyone wants to play for money, so there'll be a lot of players willing to compete within Stacked's leaderboards and tournaments for bragging rights. A E

Yeah, I think the point of Stacked is to appeal to those people who have seen poker on TV, like it, but for whatever reason don't want to download a client to their PC or play for real money.I'll stick to Stars, myself, but I do think the market is out there for such a game. specficially, for better or for worse, it'll probably appeal to the teen set who like to play poker but can't legally do so at a casino or whatnot.

They did that. It actually sold decently considering it was an expansion. That's what CS:CZ is, they just added a multiplayer component.

Daniel, will it be Mac compatible? Please say yes?
A Mac version hasn't been announced, but if you are interested in having it ported to Mac, I'd suggest you (and any Mac friends/acquaintances) write to a game publisher called Aspyr Media (www.aspyr.com). The company is the biggest publisher of Mac games, and, as its website shows, it makes deals to license big-name games for porting to the Mac. I'm sure if it thinks there's a good market in getting Stacked on Mac (say that three times fast), it'll talk to Stacked's publisher about it. Stacked would probably be a great game for the Mac market. A E

I couldent stop laughing, I showed all my poker buddies.... man its Phil at his best, I love the guy and I've probably learned most of my beg strat from him back in the day, but that was hilarious, props to the excellent interpretation... and about the game, you know what......I play video games all the time while im playing online poker, its the only way I can manage one table at a time, or early on in a tournament, I definately feel like its a good way the sharpen up on being unpredictable, and really start varying your moves, could be a great learning tool if used right.... ill def give it a try :D
