How Long Is Long Enough?

Recommended Posts

I bought in for $4 in a .05/.10 PLO cash game tonight and within 20 minutes ran it up to about $50. I played for about 30 more and said I was leaving. A couple of the donks cried it & run (they must have read it in a forum somewhere!!) How long is good etiquitte?

its low-stakes online poker, no such thing as etiquette...play until you feel like you have played long enough

exactly. Negreanu says to treat it like a job. Set time frames... Like: I'm going to play for 3 hours... etc. Poker's just one long session anyway.

Your mistake was announcing your intention. Next time just hit the leave table button. If they want to talk about you when your gone, you won't see it to get your feelings hurt.About the only time I have seen anybody really talked about when they left is when the guy was an ATM. Every body hates to see that guy go.I was never sorry to see a guy leave that won 500 BB.

i agree if we're talking about a no limit or pot limit game. I was at the Bike last night and around 2 am a few drunk donks came onto my table for about 90 minutes. I left shortly after they did.

my suggestion is to cleverly use only Dr Nick quotes for every response
OH, I've thought of that. But then I would run out of quotes after a while. That would lead to giant dissapointment.

5c/10c, u serious ? i was playing 1/2 NLHE after a nice win in the .50/1 PLO earlier on, entered with $100, got it up to $125, played a big pot with AT, ten high flop, spiked a ten on river, left with my $150 profit. (he had KK btw)If it was live, I wouldn't have done that

On line there is no such thing as etiquet (sp). Show up when you want, leave when you want. In live games, I always set a profit/loss limit as well as a time limit (though that's more flexible depending on the game) before sitting down to play. Once I hit my profit or loss limit, I will announce that I'm going to play one more revolution then go. I've never had anyone say anything negative, while I was there anyway.

i never care what other people think about when you leave the table (live or online) because from the second you win that pot it is your money and you can do whatever you want with it. i dont think people should really ever complain though cause there is always more money at the table that they can win. normally i just set a time limit anyway and just leave for live play and online i just leave when i want. dont let the way other people act influence you because if you let it get to you too much then maybe poker isnt for you if you cant handle it.
