fcp claims of great players

Recommended Posts

i pointed out that you are a poumpous censored for this viewpoint.
I hope this whole tucking fopic gets deleted. You can't even post an opinion without being barrated by people thinking they're sh*t don't stink.
yes, its quite aggrevating when you make broad generalizations about people and are called out on the inaccuracies of such statements, isnt it.

This thread was started with good intentions, I believe. Without naming names, the original poster just said it would be better if we could keep our criticisms to be more constructive. We should be sharing ideas here to make us all better players for the community that we are. Then, someone *may or may not* have implied that Smash is a jerk, and people (myself included, in the interests of decency) have risen to defend him. All this without Smash ever being directly involved in the discussion. Now we're going off on the "who's got the biggest cojones" tangent and in general, very not-nice things are being said by all.Jayson and Daniel will be upset to see all of this... and somewhere Smash is laughing because some people are caring way too much.So what are you trying to accomplish? Let's just go back to the goals of this forum and be a helpful constructive community for ourselves and each other.
As the original Poster I agree 100%... There was no names mentioned., this post was meant as a refletcion incase some of you forgot that young, less skilled players look up to well known high limit players

After reading many posts on this forum, i've come to realize something.A lot of the players (wont name names) seem to think they are among the best on this site, or even among the best online in general. Yet the amount of criticizing that comes from these "great" players is ridiculous.I'm an artist/designer, and i have had many compliments on my work, and skill. I've also seen a lot of young talent, and I've also seen a lot of wannabe designers with zero talent. Yet my advice always remains the same for both. I find it almost impossible to put a fellow designer down, no matter how badly they suck.Just my thoughts on these players who claim to be "great"
That's because design is subjective, poker is objective. It's much easier to say a poker player sucks than a designer.

Your missing the point. I've read many of your posts, you always have good insight.Dont take what i said too litteral, It was an example. Poker has grown over the last 2 years. There is no reason to ostracize new players, and their comments. These actions should be directed at the people who believe poker should remain illegal online, or outside casinos.

I'm not justifying it. I'm just saying poker is a quantitative game, design is qualitative. In other words you can take a poker players $ lost/hour and automatically say "he sucks", but you can't look at a design and say "that's negative EV, or...that car/shirt/building is only 48% good, and 52% bad, therefore it's bad. I know this is off your point though... anyway...

When the oppinions of bitter pathetic losing players without the balls to put their play out there by posting hands starts to bother me, I'll let you all know and you can shed a tear for me.Fortunately, I'm not at that point yet. It's not my fauly you guys suck, that's your problem, not mine. Trying to make your self feel better by posting topics about me and somehow basking in the dim reflected glow of my greatness just makes you all the sadder. It also makes me laugh my ass off. Imainge me starting a post about you! Hahah. Never happen. The heirarchy is pretty clear here, you've defined it.Hahahaha.Man, I'm great.

You just may be the most polished limit player on this forum, but you are also far and away the most condescending. You really should polish up your attitude. Are you like this in person? Just curious.

Wow it seems like this post got negative really fast. I think 90-95% of people who play poker are losing players. I'm not sure, thought I heard it from a Sklansky article. Anyway, most people would also like to think that they are bigger winners than they actually are. People rarely talk about their losses, I suppose it's an ego thing. But look at Doyle Brunson, during the WPT at the Bicycle he said that he was approaching his first losing year ever. The man is a living legend. I would venture to say that HIS loss comes from running bad, playing against stronger players than he did in the past, age, etc. I don't agree, nor do I disagree with the original poster. But, I will tell you that I am a much better player live vs. playing online. So, I stopped playing online. Anyway, seems like everyone just needs to mellow out a bit. Poker is fun game, remember that. Good Luck.

good post here, the majority of players are losing players, nobody wants to accept this, but it's the truth. A lot of players make themselves feel they're a winning player when they're not. They have selective memory and remember all their wins, but never their losses. I'm not putting down low limit players, but they probably need to know this before they start thinking they can do this for a living.

i agree ...why anyone would waste there time talking about a small timer like smash is beyond me. the guy is a moron who thinks he knows everything yet plays micro limits and the occasional 1-2. he's a joke it makes me sick how many posts you people put up about this guy. i want smah to attack my post because i could care less i will not post a response i said all i have to say. smash is a clown who thrives on the fact that a select few morons on this site think he can play cards.

Confession time - I'm a losing player online. Why? Tilt. Simple tilt. I get unfathomably mad over internet poker, and time after time, I'll get ticked and flush a day's profit..........But when I flush a day's profit, I flush a LOT of money :D That's why I play low-limits. It has to do not with what I can afford to play - it has to do with what I can afford to give away. A few minutes of tilt can cost you a LOT. You can blow 8 hours work with one hour steaming real easy.I will say - somebody out there has to be losing some money, and some of the people losing money are lying about it. It's as old as gambling.

I hope this post wasn't directed at me. I shared my winrate, just to illustrate a point. I am not a pro, I have a real job. Could I survive if I played online poker 50 hours a week? maybe. But I probably wouldn't have as much fun doing it.

I have learned NO matter the buy-in nor the Limit you are a victom of idiots at any given moment. I've seen people call 1200 pre-flop rasie with 3/5 suited while others are holding AA then brag about there Suited Connector, T.V has had alot to do with morons thinking they are a pro or for that matter good at anything but wasting our oxygen.

There shouldn't be any question as to whether an online player is a winner or not. Just look at your pokertracker stats. It's there in black in white. If you play online but don't use pokertracker, then you're most likely not serious enough to be a winner...

since when do u have to use poker tracker to be serious with online poker? anyways back on topic well sort of why are many of you belittling smash's skill by saying he doesnt play high limits? i dont ever remember him saying he was the best at high limits and i also remember him he doesnt plan to play high limits. he makes 50k a year playing 36 online which is great and hes doing 50$ to 1000$ experiment to help all of us and hes well on his way to reaching that goal smash is a great solid player that can beat the game while a lot of people on this forum (not pointing fingers) claim they win 912038193801$ a month yet dont prove it at all like smash does

This is hilarious., because i started this thread, and i saw smash posted a reply assuming this thread was about him., hahaha, i've never even posted comments against the guy. But he sure does have a lot of time on his hands to post an average of 35 posts a day., I wonder how his acne is doin?

Name the player then. Who is this oh so "great", critical and condescending player that you were all talking about?Just name them. Because I thought I knew the dynamics and personalities on this forum... but apparently not. I guess *I* am not as smart as I thought I was.Either that or I just ignore blowhards and forget who they are. Oh wait there is that horse trainer assistant guy. But, he sort of makes the argument being made on this thread.

People tend to bring up the 90% of players are losers fact quite often whenever discussing anything like this. The only problem with that thinking is the fact that people who go to online forums are often looking to get better and are probably winning players or will soon become winning players. The suckers in the game aren't going to be going to forums or reading poker books much. Not really critisizing, I just think it's something you may have overlooked.
