I'm down to one, and he's not the guy, he's Mr. Right Now, which isn't a bad run considering I put one ad up about a year ago, no updates. I have been thinking about updating after Thanksgiving. In my #blessed world, my television is mostly working now. I don't know how I fixed it, just that it's working, and I didn't have to ask Mr. Friendzone or Mr. Cheapskate to help. Essay, Mr. Not-Mercury, I want you to appreciate I lived for six weeks without a tv. Last night felt like a tiny celebration when I got it to work, complete with wine and a half made meal. The main was frozen from Trader Joes, supplemented with sauteed spinach and shallots. Tonight I'm re-watching Sherlock, eating pork chops, and drinking more wine. In more office news, the only thing that got me there today was the annoying admin telling me in confidence she was treating the office to doughnuts. I ate 2.5, all in halves. Unblessed news, I didn't get to the Coates talk, kept out because of overselling--I talked my inviter into going to the rotating bar, 35th floor of the Bonaventure Hotel. This is a "short-term pain for long-term gain" move for us. We're downsizing temporarily to a much smaller spot for a while; the hotel I run has a manager's suite that is rent-free and allows a lot more flexibility with childcare as I'm right there (as is my staff). This frees us up to fulfill some family obligations over the next year. Then hopefully a short bit after that we'll be debt free and ready to buy our next home, complete with dream kitchen and much, much further from my work. In the meantime I'm working on building a relationship with the restaurant staff so that I can use that kitchen when they aren't... 2 Link to post Share on other sites

Yeah, it's not always super convenient that they need to eat and be changed every 2-4 hours, but they're pretty easy otherwise since they pretty much just lie in one spot and sleep. With Evangeline, she sleeps longer, but when she's awake, she has to be kept relatively supervised and entertained. She also is starting to scoot around a lot this week, so she's begun "getting into things". "No, Evangeline, those N64 cartridges you found in the entertainment center are not chew toys." Had to install baby gates on the stairs...which I'm already annoyed that they'll probably be there for 4-5 years. Eager to get the kids able to navigate the stairs ASAP. ...aaaand Madeline is unloading in her diaper as I'm feeding her in my lap as I type this. Anyway, they are both really good babies. They cry...but not nearly as much as I'm led to believe other babies cry. Evangeline is actually super well-behaved when she's out or when she's around other people. 3 Link to post Share on other sites

We're ending our 3rd full week right now. So that's good Of course the step son is still living with us. That won't be changing anytime soon. He did finally get a job and is following his usual pattern of coming out of the gate strong. But he has no money management skills, so who knows how that part is going. You'd figure he'd start to prioritize, considering he's about to start year 3 without a car. And he'll be 24 in Feb. Not good, especially since his mother gave him w car at 17, the one he wrecked in the DUI two years ago December. But, as of now, he just wants a car and wants to live with friends, but does shit about it. And I'm sure as soon as he lives with friends and doesn't have forced structure, he'll lose whatever job he has because he doesn't differentiate between a work night and an off night with his activities Anyway, enough of that crap Link to post Share on other sites

The guy doesn't clean, has a dog that sheds and has serious issues with biting people. I go over to hang out a few nights ago, don't see the car in the driveway, but walk in and the new roommate is sitting there watching TV. me: hey dude, where's your car? him: I scrapped it me: how do you get to work? him: I quit my job I almost feel bad for my ex-roomie, if the situation goes where it's trending, etc 2 Link to post Share on other sites

In fact, having bought numerous houses it's a terrible idea. You end up buying shit you don't need and might hate 6 months later. Take your time. As long as you have a bed, couch and table/chairs you don't need anything else. If you do, go to consignment store or second hand store and get something temporary. We furnished an entire 4 bedroom, living, dining, loft, cabin with pretty nice furniture for like $5K last year. We only had the couch and a couple futon, fold out couches.
