I Called In Sick Today

Recommended Posts

Stayed last night in Bandon, Oregon, on the southern coast. Staying in a little inn overlooking the Sleepy (this time of year) little tourist/fishing village with views of old town and the water. Did not suck.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

The cubes good. More privacy than I expected. The guy they moved in kitty corner from me takes a lot of meetings at his desk which is distracting but he gave me his season tickets to this weekends game, so, I'll call it a wash for now.

I've probably had more working hours this month than in the past 7 combined so that's sucked. But I gave my report to my bosses for review before handing it off to senior management, so once that's done I'll have fvck all to do the next two months until I do this all again. Except next time I'll have the process more refined and it shouldn't take near as long. Big fan of the process.

Strat my newest excel jam is using macros to create and populate access tables. This will really help the aforementioned process. I am reworking my model to create conservative, expected, and aggressive projections to give my bosses more options. (Spoiler: they will almost always just take the conservative option, which, ugh).

The entire Oregon Coast is probably the most underrated part of the entire United States (weighted year-round, whereas the northern Maine Coast would take that spot if we were only ranking spring and summer). If 3/4 of the people who retire to Arizona or Florida knew what the Oregon Coast was, that's where they'd go (but they don't, they're retards who just do what they see other people do so its like lemmings all heading in the same direction).

With Portland becoming "Portland", this isn't going to remain undiscovered much longer. I don't think there's any panic pricing happening since there are absolutely no jobs in those places but I could totally see certain parts (Depoe Bay, Astoria, Cannon Beach) that are near the first whistle-stops on the main lines out of Portland becoming what Mendocino is to San Fran.

Ya, Soccer and Flag Football right now. Baseball ended a few weeks ago. Said he wanted a break and today he asked me when we are going to play again. Probably do some cage work next week with him. Skiing and snowboarding hopefully will start in the next month as well.

No way anyone plays until 50. Brady can go for a few more years, maybe even 5, but all it's going to take is one big hit, one big injury, and that'll pretty much be the end. He's god damn amazing in the fact that his footwork is better than ever, that he's still finding ways to improve, but the body can't take that kind of punishment as it ages. More than 5 years would be a shock.

Long damn work day today. Raining, dark. Two more hours to go. Nothing good on the internet at the moment.

Could not agree more. Definitely need to have money in the bank or retirement coming in though because you're not going to make much, if you can find a job, trying to make a living there.

Daughters are well. Oldest has finished the main part of getting her paralegal but for CA has to take additional classes in different legal specialities to meet their requirement.

Youngest is working at a pizza place a 1/4 mile from home and making crazy good tips (at least for what I would have expected at a pizza place).

Wife is working part time (...)

And I care almost not at all about the WS.

soccer is the best. nothing like scoring a goal in soccer, even a home run doesn't compare.

i hope he does it cause it would be an awesome story, but i think you're right, it's impossible.

Cat is good. Still doing the accounting thing. Way too lazy/unmotivated right now to go after the cpa, thinking about law school, but yeah the lazy thing again.

sorry, i'm the only attorney allowed. i had to run cane brain out of here already, don't make me destroy you.

I don't think I ever did anything like that. Seems involved and interesting. That's my one big sadness about the job I took, I don't get to keep learning more about Excel, because it's just not overly relevant to what I do. The thing I'm not sad about is the extra $15k/yr I make.

I really question whether you should build in the expected and aggressive models based on what you're telling me. Just being honest here.

He strat, you should start a Bourbon thread an in the OP put all the special bottles we should keep an eye out for with pictures. I was at the store today and they had a ton of bottles I've never heard of that were 60-100 bucks.

This is a valid point and one I've considered. However, my ego requires of me to make what I think is the best possible forecast regardless of management trying to cover their own asses. Also, I already have the "expected" model built and to get the conservative model won't require much tweaking. And with my exporting to Access I think it will become easier to consolidate it all into a finished product without much extra work. And my idea of making the the conservative model sort of requires me to also make the aggressive. I really wish I could show it to someone who knows wtf they're doing to see if my model is worth a shit or not. I mean, I know it is somewhat because it's been within 2-3% of actuals on basically all the tests I've ran it with. But I'd still like to get an outsiders opinion.

I think it's very cool Napa.

And, SA...after much thought and consideration I've decided it's a Chipotle kind of night. See ya in a bit...

I second that. Lincoln is a bourbon rich environment.

Walked up to Chipotle and the line to order was ridiculous. Had a brief moment of weakness when I considered punting and finding something else but I persevered and obtained the desired chicken bowl with a side of guac and chips. Totally worth it.

Penthouse to the outhouse?

Hi hi

As promised, I went to the Broad Museum on Saturday. It's on three floors, with most of the collection on the third floor. The mirror room was on the first floor and had a seven hour wait. Oof maybe I'll get luckier next time?

I wanted some of the rooms to be larger, or for there to be a little less art in some of the rooms. It's the inaugural exhibition, so it's a Greatest Hits. You walk into a medium sized room and there are six Basquiat's displayed. There are a metric **** ton of Jeff Koons, a couple by my man Christopher Wool, a nice display of Jenny Holzer, etc.

I don't like Koons that much, his flat and bright colors remind me of the 80s, porn, and the flat hyper real stuff in light boxes my ex husband loved. It's room after room of beautiful, big art that I recognize. There's a lovely cluster of Mike Kelley, and then I wander into a room of Cy Twombley. I clapped--I didn't mean to, but I felt like I was in a Disneyland fireworks show, one thing after another, after another, and when I saw the 5+ Twombley's all together the applause just escaped me. After that it felt like I was watching a greatest hits of a super star, remote, and a "Oh yeah, I bet he does own that," type of moments. I walked into a room of Ellsworth Kelly I'm still thinking of, and then that was it. I was arted-out. I drifted down to the second floor, which only has admin offices, bathrooms, and a fishbowl peek into the vaults.

The first floor has the 80 foot Murakami mural, a big video installation, and the unvisited mirror room. I'm thinking about when I can go back by myself and listen to everything, spend four hours, etc.
