I Called In Sick Today

If I was GM of the Bengals I'd cut Palmer and do whatever it took to sign Vick next year. I'd buy him a whole secluded dog fighting park if he wanted. Speaking of Palmer, they asked why he threw out of the shotgun so much against Pittsburgh last week and he said it was because the center had some raunch mexican food the night before.

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

During the Bengals 'Hard Knocks' season, I thought Palmer came off as a funny and engaging guy that you would never, ever want leading your football team.

Ya know he and Palamalu were college roomies and he must have something on Carson because every time we play he throws more passes to Palamalu than our recievers.

Yeah, take a fucking number pal. I've been after those goddamn things on the retail level for quite some time and they're always sold out. Haven't even bothered looking for a while (if anyone in Chicagoland has a line on where they're at, let me know). The good news is, after Christmas is over and all the Republicans are done buying them as gag gifts for other Republicans, Walgreens will probably have the overproduction by the pallet-full for a stiff discount.
There's a ton at my local Walgreens, along with Homer Simpson, Spongebob and assorted others. I live right ouside of Des Moines and could probably ship you one(or more) relatively cheaply. Let me know.

Nope..on the other side in Altoona, right by the casino.
The Des Moines metro is actually on my short-short-short list of places to move if/when I finally pop smoke on Chicago. We're going the way of Detroit really fast and those few places in the city that remain relatively safe and convenient are totally, totally unaffordable. Des Moines, Tampa, Austin, TX and Roanoke, VA are the contenders with DM leading the pack.

Largest over-reaction to record snowfall in November ever?
Not at all. I'm in Spokane visiting family and was having to go out and shovel and snoblow for my mom and grandma. My back was finished after the first day. If I lived here I would definitely have something like that, for sure. I say good purchase, sir.

I have a push behind snowblower which is clearly one of God's greatest inventions asides from Hooter's yearly calender, which by the way, I just got if anyone wants a copy.

scram, I'm not sure roanoke is your type of city to be honest.
I can tolerate their existence as long as they're concentrated into ghettos and away from me. So long as I don't have to see their dumb faces when I go to the store, that's all I ask. If they happen to exist in the same Metropolitan Statistical Area but aren't in my kids school and when I pull up to stoplights they aren't in the car next to me more than 1 time in 20, I can live with that. In Chicago, this is becoming increasingly impossible unless you earn mid six figures or more. I forget what "side" of Roanoke they live on, but I'd live on the other side. Parts of Roanoke are way, way nice and it's cheap enough that I can live there off pokering without much worry. Des Moines is a bit prefab, but it has *a lot* going for it and for some reason, I really like it every time I go there. Austin is great in terms of culture but faggy, Tampa is awesome. Really, I lie... It's between Tampa and Des Moines.

Really? I mean, I know that south chicago is shit, but aren't most of the neighborhoods north of the city (wrigleyville, wicker park, etc) fairly safe and relatively affordable? I guess I only lived in the area for 9 months, and that was 4 years ago, so I may be totally off.
my kids
Eek.

Safe, yes. Not really affordable though.

I'm reading this book called, A Voyage Long and Strange, about all the real story of the discovery of America. I was just listening this morning about the Roanoke Indians being one of the first tribes that the English wiped out long before the pilgrims ever hit Plymouth Rock. So, really if the Indians had been less gullible, more resistant to disease and had better weapons to fight the well armed invaders, Scram might not even have a good half of Roanoke to even consider.

We had over 30 inches at my house in less than 2 weeks. I spent a week taking my wife and daughter to/from work because my truckwas the only vehicle that could get out of our neighborhood. After day 3 of that I headed to the motorcycle shop and picked this up. Way betterthan shoveling and cleared the damn road myself.

I considered this option but decided that since: A. I would only need it 2 - 3 months a year and B. Some years, like last year, I wouldn't need it atall, that I'd spend more for something I could use year around.

Des Moines really is a nice city. Very, very affordable and the downtown area is seeing a pretty healthy resurgence. Lots of local folks are opening shops/restaurants/bars and reviving the area, with the city's pumping a lot of money in to the revitalization. There's a Russian restaurant/bar that's really taking off. Not too many hipsters or fags. Pretty straightforward midwesterners for the most part. Lots of the ammenities of a larger city.. brand new arena/concert venue downtown, malls, new river walk, museums, art and so on. There's a casino/racetrack/card room, Bass Pro Shops, Arena football, Triple A baseball, D-League basketball. Relatively low crime rate, though there are a couple areas(especially by Drake University, go figure) that aren't desirable. There's 500k people who live in Polk County and only about 200k live in Des Moines proper. There's lots of nice suburbs with their own character(remember Beaverdale, if you do decide to move) that have a quick 5-15 minute drive to Des Moines or downtown. I grew up 15 miles outside of Des Moines in a farming town of 1,500 people but was always able to get downtown in 20 minutes because there's never, never any traffic. Nice place to raise kids, though I'd make sure my kids went to one of the suburban districts. /Des Moines Visitors Bureau
