oh, by the way, i quit.

This argument is pointless. The difference between live and online play cant be found. Every hand is different every situation is different regardless of the medium. They are very different and require different styles. Also what most people fail to relize is that most people in casinos are tourist. They are people on vacation looking for a good time. So yes alot of the live low limit casino games are not going to be as challenging as the online play since the online players do it everyday for the money more than for entertainment. But if you took a group of live 4/8 players who play equal amount of live hands as a group of onlne 4/8 players play online hands than i would say that the skill would equal.

i cant fully understand why your upset one huge losing streak is totally not cool. but i dont think it can fully justify quiting online for good. online is a great way to play poker with so many tables and tournements right at your fingertips. just my 2 cents

I dont see why this should be such a big deal.If i couldnt beat the stakes i play online, i'd quit too. Poker is dull as **** if you're losing money or breaking even. The fun is the progression and accomplishment of winning, to me. There's no thrill in the random fluctuations of chance that make a couple of 'virtual cards' complete arbitrary hand combinations. If i couldnt beat a live game, on the other hand, i'd have to kill myself.

I've played in 2/4 and 3/6 limit games live that were filled with regulars that played tighter than a 10/20 game online where people would regularly fold AJ to a raise PF and fold TPTK to a raise on the turn. On the other hand, I've also played 10/20 limit games live that were looser than a 1/2 game online where half the players would see every flop regardless of their hand.
Ive played 2/4 LHE at at least 20 different casinos. The toughest game ive seen has probably been comparable to an average online 2/4. Generally speaking, a live 2/4 is on par with .25/.50 LHE and a live 10/20 equivalent to 2/4. Roughly speaking. And for the record, people who reliably fold TPTK on the turn to a raise are not "good". It makes them "tight"; and probably too tight if they make a habit of it.

If you quit, you better quit both, online and live.If you can't realize what your problems are, you will still be a losing player even playing live games.Quitters are losers.I am not flaming you, anyway good luck.
People who name themselves after someone else's dog are losers.

I agree 100%....live players are better than on-line. And I go to the KC Boats also....$2/$5 NLHE at Harrahs. I'm decent...maybe more than that but I'll hold off judgement for a bit longer. Going to go on-line for the first time at month's end.
Glad to see someone esp. from KC agrees with me.....I have played at Harrah's .... only Limit...they don't have a kill.. which I don't like... I have not played NL there....I'm really not a big fan of their poker room... Ameristar....it's ok.... but there.. it's No FOLD'em Hold'em..Good luck at on-line... it will be a big adjustment... took me awhile and money to figure it out. :club:
way to completely invalidate your point, too."live players are better....but it's NO FOLD'em hold'em"....good job working $30 into $850 or whatever, but try playing 4/8 limit online compared to 4/8 limit at your casino and tell me which is better.play 2/4 or 3/6NL online and see how many see a flop each hand, and play 2/5NL live and see how many see a flop each hand. record these, and tell me which is easier.
WOW.... I come back to work today and see this whole thread had been moved to Online poker and then back to General. FUNNY...Anyway, I digress ( i have always wanted to say that..lol)I don't believe my point has been invalidated... I just mentioned at that particular casino... it is No fold'em hold'em...Online poker is hard to beat at a consistent basis....it is a total different animal. I have admitted totally that when I first started playing on-line .. I was really really bad... ... But I have adjusted..On line is in my opinion a very loose game... no one folds either... and you have to adjust to that....My whole point in the very beginning when I presented my opinion regarding the skill level of online vs. live.... NO matter what anyone says here,, I have the right to my opinion... I still believe that LIVE poker players in the long run.. who make a living at it... are skilled professionals and have developed a level of skill that surpasses most online players.Online pros.. are skilled professionals "online"... I am not a professional poker player.... I haven't ever claimed to be a great poker player either.. I have a lot to learn... however... I am not a bad player either. If you have read Daniel's blog today... he even subtlely mentions that playing him "live" he has the advantage.... Why does he say that? Anyway.. I am done... I have been flamed enough about my opinion.Take Care, :?

I was so frustrated Saturday morning that I cashed out my bankroll back to neteller. I don't maintain the biggest bankroll in the world, but it was around $600 or so.By Sunday night I was bored so I deposited 'just $100'...I'm up $700 over the past 2 days, so I guess I'm back.Friggin' poker. What an evil mistress.Moral of the story is: OP - see you at the tables sometime...

the main discussion during this thread has been about online players being better or worse than live players(at comprable low limits). though I don't play online because I am a luddite who doesn't trust his money on the internet, I have to agree with the majority mainly because I have seen how bad live 3-6 and 4-8 limit are, as well as pretty much every credible source agreeing. However I saw quite a few people also saying that it is easier to BEAT a low limit live game. I don't know if this is true with the higher rake, jackpot drop (all the games I'ver played in my area have a bad beat) and dealer tokes. every pot you take down over 30 bucks , you're losing 5 dollars off the top. That's close to a big bet every pot you drag (or a higher percentage of the pot if it's a small pot). that's tough to beat.I'm not saying it's impossible because I have no concrete evidence either way. I don't keep detailed records though I suspect i'm slightly down playing 3-6 and 4-8. I am also usually drunk and a pretty average limit player at best.basically I am just asking if anyone takes this factor into consideration, despite the fact that the players are worse, the house taking 100-150 dollars an hour off the table has to make it pretty tough to actually beat a live low limit game. (of course this becomes less and less of a factor as stakes go up. also anyone who says "it affects me less because I don't tip" **** you in advance. have fun going through life as a piece of shit.)[/u]

I'm not trying to offend you or get into a flame war, but honestly if you can't beat the game online, what makes you think you'll have better luck playing live?  Are your reading abilities really that good, or is it time for a new hobby?
Live poker is easier to make money in because you can make better reads and there are more gamblers around. Period.
