ajs510 122
I think it's more in the lines of waiting for the right deal.I gotta be honest here, Ivey has the ability to walk into any casino in the world, sit down at the biggest game running, and mop it up. If I had that ability, I wouldn't be writing a book about how to be as good as I am, or doing a TV commercial for Sprite, or modeling for a video game either. Why go to all the hassle for less than a buyin at the Big Game? If someone was going to give him $10 million to be in a video game or write a book, that would be a different story. Poker endorsements aren't anywhere near the level of NBA or PGA endorsements yet, probably never will be.
JacKingOff_suit 0
i was wondering why phil doesnt have anything going except with his playing at full tilt...phil is clean cut and he seems like a nice guy...why doesnt he get any endorsements? is it because he is black? now DN gets a video game, book coming out, dvd, WYNN, cameos in movies, and alot more.....IVY has had a great 2005..maybe just as good as DNs 2004...so why no love? again i ask..is it because he is black? If he was white...i think he would have so much more...dont get me wrong..i like ivey and the way he plays and even talked to him on a few occasions and he is really nice and rooting for him 100%...hey, maybe he doesnt want it, i dont know...but who wouldnt want a few extra million from endorsements...Don't blame everything on racism, idiot. mk 11
Yeah, he's gotten a wee bit embarassing of late, but I still admire him. Dedicated his entire life to the fight for civil rights. He'd totally call me a white devil, though.

Kuge 0
I believe that Ivey doesn't want to be marketed, he seems like he likes his privacy. Plus, I love watching him playon TV just as much as Mike Matusow or Daniel Negreaneu or Phil Hellmuth. Ivey lets the cards do the talking which I happen to like. Plus if he were to be in video games and being the spokesman for that game, it would seem un-ivey-like.Not to mention while watching the monte carlo millions on FSN, when Ivey does says something at all, it's kind of a surprise, and funny at the same time. I'm weird, just my 2 cents though.

Sheesh. Everyone knows a black guy can't get an endorsement deal in this country. Just ask Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, or LeBron James. Poor guys have to live on the pittance they make playing their respective sports, and the rest of us have to sit through all those incessant Wally Szczerbiak commercials. Like Wally...if I could be like Wally....I wanna be I wanna be I wanna be
Mattnxtc 0
Why does it always have to be about Race? If you had done any research, you'd have already answered your own question. Surely that's the only legit answer right? It doesn't have anything at all to do with Mr. Ivey's own wishes right?it always has to be racial duh...DN has said on many occasions that Ivey is a very private guy. He doesnt want the publicisty. I promise you that if he ever decided he wanted it he would be the most sought after guy for endorsements.
Mercury69 3
He has said he is too lazy.Is he too lazy because he's black? IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING?? IS IT?????I was waiting for a comment on that. Give me a break. That's what he said. Nothing to do with his race.Ah, man, I was just kidding, anyway.

JBradburn6 0
PersonalityIt's that simple. I know Phil is a nice guy but when was the last time you heard him say more than one sentence in an on camera interview. Daniel and others meanwhile are more animated. I would venture to say that if he wanted it, and reflected that on camera and in trying to get more endorsements/business going, then he would have more than anyone. So to answer your question, no, it's not because he's black1. Watch the few clips available of Ivey (for example when they're golfing), the dude's pretty funny. At the table he's all business.2. Being boring on camera doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't get any endorsements. Tiger Woods is pretty boring on camera but does pretty well.

blueodum 0
If Phil Ivey wanted to write a book it would be published in a heartbeat.Ask yourself why Erik Seidel hasn't written a poker book. The answer is because he doesn't want to.

DanielNegreanu 141
You've actually got it all completely backwards. The fact that Phil is young and black makes him 10 times more marketable than a white guy.
