jfmclean 0
well ive been working on a steady bankroll playing the 55+5 turbo sng's on stars for the past little while and have built up a solid bankroll of about 10k. Tonight I was drinking tequila with some buddies, and then drank some more... and I was like wtf i'm good enough to play some big cash games for a night, who cares if its out of my b/r im a good player and should do ok.I step into the 10/20nl and proceed to get my ass handed to me. Got bluffed out a couple times on big pots (by people who dont care about money, the best players) and got sucked out on a few times (who gives a sh*t right?).So I proceeded to lose the entire 10k minus about 500$ which I didn't even feel like DONKING off at the end. So after this terrible experience (only about 3 hours) I max out my credit card on Party Poker and jump into the blackjack.Deposited 2k and started at $100/hand, get it up to $4k and I get on the SICKEST streak of a lifetime and end up losing count it ---- 31 hands in a row!! (3 pushes in 31 hands), after that I won a coulple and then lost it all back. On the night im down about 12k and feel like i want to die. But what the hell its only money right? Wait a minute.. what the hell is life without money? Don't play when you're drunk. This is a true story and the lesson to be learned is very very real.

Stewdio 0
I blew through 4 thou going on a horrible streak while trying to take a shot, although I wasn't drunk. Playing in 20 dollar sit n go's and 25 max NL games is punishment enough for me and hopefully for you too. The money will come back eventually, although it took a few days to recover from thinking about. Good luck in your recovery (from the loss, not alcohol.)

beans-n-icewater 18
OUCH... sorry about the loss, I think most here can relate (maybe not quite to the figures you stated) I almost self-destructed one night at the hands of Mr. Corona... thank God I won it back before I sobered up and quit. This is the reason you'll see me at the $10 buy-in NL games late at night on FCP or Pokerroom... Im usually hammered (but somehow by playing them, I've turned a free $10 into about $600).... I guess I play micro-limits pretty well drunk, or the players are bad..... yeah ..... the players ARE bad... gl

iggymcfly 0
Hey I can feel you on that one. I did the same thing recently, (except for $6000 not $12000). Just be glad you played blackjack on PP instead of trying to drive to a casino and adding a totalled car and a DUI to your list of worries.Honestly, money is just temporary, and if you're a good enough poker player, it will come back to you eventually. If you do still have some money around, my advice is to take a week or two off from poker. The residual tilt will last a lot longer than you think, and you won't be able to play your best game again for a while. Even if you have it going for a couple hours, you'll still be trying to win everything back too fast, and you'll probably lose any more money you put in for at least the next week or so.It's always fun to see a drunk join your game and seemingly be a free ATM for everyone around, but it sucks when you're the drunk and you blow through your wad. Just try not to beat yourself up too bad and chalk it up as a learning experience. I think the drinking with poker lesson is one that a lot of poker players have to learn for themselves; so be glad you learned it when your bankroll was $10,000 and not when it was $200,000 like it was for Daniel. HowMuchIsIt 0
Sometimes the person telling you not to gamble might not be who you'd expect...you shouldn't gamble if you are under 21 or if you have trouble setting or keeping a limit...if you're lonely or depressed or maybe INTOXICATED...you might want to call this number....1-800-SUKRBET

iggymcfly 0
You don't have to have a gambling addiction to do something stupid when you're drunk and go through a lot of money. It sounds like the OP was doing a nic job supplementing his income with poker until he did something stupid when he was quite intoxicated. If it was a pattern where he was continually going through all his money gambling, then it might be an addiction, but I think as is; it's just a regrettable mistake.

Why is everyone giving this guy sympathy? Are you all like close personal friends? He got wasted, and went through TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. That's not pity worthy; that's idiotic. There's no excuse for an adult to behave this way. I mean, jesus, I hope you're able to make it up someday, and I'm glad you learned your lesson, but you don't really deserve sympathy. I'm sorry that offended mrdannyg so thoroughly.
iggymcfly 0
Read this article. It will make you feel better. Maybe the people flaming should read it too before deciding the OP is worthy of nothing but disdain since he made a mistake while he was drunk. http://fullcontactpoker.com/daniel/poker-a...t_from=&ucat=2&

Maybe the people flaming should read it too before deciding the OP is worthy of nothing but disdain since he made a mistake while he was drunk. http://fullcontactpoker.com/daniel/poker-a...t_from=&ucat=2& Just b/c DN did it doesn't make it okay. I think DN would tell you he was an idiot too. I get sick of seeing these kind of stories. "I lost my whole bankroll taking a shot, " or "I got drunk and lost my whole bankroll." What's the intent? For pity, of course. And you guys oblige. Personally, I'd rather someone tell me I was a ****ing retard if I did something like that. I don't want everyone telling me that it's okay, and that they feel really bad for me. There's absolutely no motivation to change.Honestly, I hope the OP works and gets his money back. I really do. But I'm not gonna sit here and baby a grown man who got hammered and pissed away a good chunk of what a lot of people make in a year. It doesn't help anyone. All it does is give everyone the warm fuzzies. It's stupid.
